$300 is a nice down payment, how would you like to take care of the rest?don't even bother, john...no way this thing is $300. My money's on double that.
I find it puzzling that anyone would sign up for pre-order without knowing the price, but then I find it puzzling that anyone would sign up for pre-order. It's a recipe for grief.
I agree that it's kind of weird, but I see it as more of an expression of interest than an actual pre-order. There's no commitment by either side, especially without a price point.
Limited Release. Reserve your Herbalizer NOW and guarantee your spot in line. Release date to be announced soon – so stay tuned.
The page title is "Pre Order". It's US-centric too, no place to enter your country and "State" is a required field.
I dunno, the Herbalizer might be less than $500 - I've heard that using a 3D printer is fairly cheap. ...
The 3d printing was for the prototype. They invested in molds...which are not cheap.
They call them credit cardsA payment plan is great idea, except no companies do it

Well, yes and no. Injection moulds do indeed cost a metric fuck-ton (seriously, even a very small mould for a couple of small parts like switches would be in the fat end of ten grand), but once you have them, your manufacturing cost per unit on parts is cents. And the machine can spit a sprue out (which generally contain several parts) every few seconds. Compare this with 3D printing when each piece printed costs dollars, maybe rather a lot of dollars, and takes ages.
I think he was referring to the cost of have a prototype 3d-printed, though, which sounds all fancy and Blade-Runner-meets-James-Bond, but is actually not that unusual these days, and perfectly economically viable for a startup to use as a rapid-prototyping tool.
I really cant see it being priced more than $499. Which i think is what it will ultimately be released at.I'd like to throw in my thoughts on pricing for this unit.
I estimate that this device could sell for $350 at a reasonable profit. I predict that will be the settling point of the pricing, once supply and demand have their way.
Yeah, I won't be surprised if they price it at $500, but that will only fly because of availability. If they go higher than $500, I think they've misinterpreted the market or simply strategized around high margin/low volume...

When the vivape was first released it was $459 and it goes for $399 now.( Or really $299 since they have special sales for everything.) i think the vivape will be the main competition for the herbalizer since they are very similar concepts vaporizer wise. If i was in the market for a desktop vape and its only a difference of $100-$200 dollars depending on if the vivapes on sale i would go with the herbalizer hands down. However, I feel like the temperature of my vivape is accurate enough and everything else is similar that so if the herbalizer is more than $500 i just dont see it worth purchasing over the vivape.
She, not he
Tweek, you're right - I was talking about 3D printing everything. And Anonymouse, you're right - I thought a 3D printed prototype would be cheap. Didn't know they'd bought molds.
But if they have enough investors, start-up costs (including the price of molds) should be pretty much covered and the buyers shouldn't have to suffer too much, right?
