So you sold it then bought it back ? Or are you referring to before you sold it when you say you fired it back up

Before... I had to take a break from the hobby (i'm 5 weeks in), so I fired it up before it shipped out. I will have to admit I kinda do regret letting it go and miss it like crazy! Mostly for the bags, I couldn't stand the whip(s), and probably the HT as well.

I thought the original warranty was 2 years, but then if it stops working within 3 years after that they will offer you the device for half price.

That was my understanding of how the warranty worked when I bought mine in June.

**Wow, on December 30th, I'll have had my Herbie for 6 months! :)

So I've been loving my herbie with buds and wanted to try some concentrates. I made my first batch of bho and pre-heated the ss pad a few times. I melted some oil on the hot pad and blew four bags starting with decent clouds. I noticed the taste of the ss pad alot and was hoping someone could give me some insight on how to get rid of that taste. I was vaping at 420 and 445 . Thanks for any advice or comments.

I remember reading that the bulb was rated to last for 35,000 hours or something? I'm thinking it should last a good while for most users.

To put this into a comparative perspective:

I use a cheap porcelain aromatic wax defuser with a halogen bulb of the same appearance. Since I run it at full power (only choice, not adjustable), every day for 7 hours and have had it for 2 yrs, that means my cheap bulb has lasted 7 x 365 x 2 = 2,110 hrs . Sure, electronic shit may/can happen but I'm expecting that I'll have a very long life with Herby considering the usage difference ;)

Good post Sticks. I hope you're right, the tune might change when we find out how much it costs to replace the bulb, but you're right....it's pretty damn rock solid so far, but it's still electronics, and this thread overall is super quiet for a vape so good and popular on FC, but much of that has to do with not too many owners given its high price. I look forward to the future with Herbalizer, and Josh's endevours...it's such a good time to be alive! For the future Herbie, I would wish for less plastic. After putting the Herbie away for weeks, and firing it back up again, I couldn't but help notice the same odour I did when I first bought it, which put me off a bit. I wish the member who bought it from me would post on his experience with it, I haven't heard boo (but he only joined to buy it I think). I also can't believe there are STILL 2 Herbie's alive in the Classifieds....especially one for only $400, and nobody is biting?
Id bite in a flash if it wasnt a USA/Canada only thing. Meanwhile waiting, waiting (for export model and a reply email LOL)

@jivebuggered

Perhaps 'not' the type wax your thinking ? There is no markings on it, and it was an xmas gift but looks like this:

and uses this type bulb:

That's interesting because I have a very sensitive nose and palate and never once detected the taste of SS. In fact, I don't detect it with Cloud ELBs either, nor my SS bowl of the Solo. I think I have never enjoyed the taste of concentrates more than on the SS pad, blowing bags. Incredibly tasty dense vapour depending on how much concentrate you actually use.

So, i'm wondering - could it be the "preheating" of pads, that is causing this? Or perhaps I was just using more product than you, and as a result it "masked" the SS "taste"? Not sure, but I always used MAX temps, so I hope this helps. I also ISO soaked the pads really well too.

I'll try to iso soak them today. That may help. I cant taste it with the bowl just the pads. Thanks for your input. I only used a pea sized amount of concentrate.

It's an obsession but it's pleasin'
Yeah, the start up messages, 5 year quality guarantee, and exclusive paint job were the three main "limited edition" features as far as I remember. No idea when they'll stop selling the LE in favor of "regular" units. It's been nearly a year at this point, so how limited is it really?

Guess I always assumed the Limited Edition was manufactured in one run and will be sold until they're gone. At that point the paint job and startup messages will be changed and the warranty will drop to 2 years for the next manufacturing run?

Love the Herbalizer, just got it today and had about a two hour session. Little complaints but the top seems flimsy and doesn't really shut all the way. And for those of you comparing the taste to a volcano i found that you have to fill the herbalizer bowl up to where it funnels outward at the top in order to get dense vapor and 320 degrees to 330 is optimal for flavor....idk how you guys are comparing vapor from a volcano at 6 to a herbie at 350. Volcano is smoother at that temp honestly.

Hey all,

I've read in this thread that some people are using the standard volcano mouthpiece with their Herbie, I was curious if anyone has a mod to use the easy valve?

I 'd like to share my experience with herbie, two days ago while I was grinding for second session Herbie starts smoking with black thick smoke, and strong plastic smell I disconnect immediately the power cord but it keep burning .My guess is that the control that has to switch off the power didn't work properly this is the video after the incident
I contact carrie of herbalizer customer service but since I used it in costa rica I lost the warranty. I don't really care to replace it, I just don't trust anymore, It really could burn my house down, I have a lot of wooden furniture and roof. I used near my bed and my sofa. But the really disturbing thing is that herbalizer company don't give a shit about what happen they don't want to analyze the unit to figure out what went wrong. I already fill a report to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
herbalizer company said that was the costa rica electricity the cause arguing that the Hz are different than in Usa, but here there is 110 v. and 60 Hz like usa and it was connected to an ups that stabilize any fluctuation.
I was super fan of herbie I used daily from august when I received and I paid 200 usd more to import here. It seems to my like cutting edge technology, now I came back to my old dabuddha that never give me a problem in the last 4 years. What a disappoint ! the only think I suggest to you guys is to disconnect the power cord after you finish to use it or before go to sleep.

Anyone notice the new website? Nice.

I am starting to wonder about there service record of the Herbie company.

Keep in mind, it is a small office. When a trade show/holiday/whatever come around, that means even less people to respond. Unlike other companies that farm out customer support to services that don't really understand the product outside of a provided script, the people that will respond know the product by heart. I understand it is frustrating to send several messages without a response, but try sending a message to Carrie.

I have a question for you guys and girls regarding the LE warranty.

Has anyone ever seen a non "limited edition" herbalizer?

The initial run of of Herbies are all LE. Once they are gone, then they are gone and nothing but the non-LE will be out.

Yeah, the start up messages, 5 year quality guarantee, and exclusive paint job were the three main "limited edition" features as far as I remember. No idea when they'll stop selling the LE in favor of "regular" units. It's been nearly a year at this point, so how limited is it really?

LNS, as usual, is correct. :) (With the addendum that after two years it is a reduced cost replacement.)

I seem to recall the non-LEs possibly not coming with as many accessories, but who knows if I am mis-remembering that?

In terms of the warrantee, *MY* opinion is the initial period given the LE buyers covered a lot of unknown issues with a new product... kinda a safety buffer for buyer confidence. As it's been a year and very few issues have cropped up (I know all the issues), I don't see the 5 years as really needed. Having been involved in a few vape launches now, it was good to have the option to replace at a reduced cost -- just in case -- for people buying a product with no track record. It now has a track record, so buyer's don't need the added confidence.

I noticed the taste of the ss pad alot and was hoping someone could give me some insight on how to get rid of that taste.

Just like silicone, some people are more sensitive to specific tastes. Silicone doesn't bother me, but I did notice a metallic taste in the beta v2 Indica I had. Most people didn't notice it, but a few did.

I usually use flower 99% of the time, so I'm afraid I can't offer you much guidance as to how to reduce the taste... only suggest some of us might be more sensitive than others.

I remember reading that the bulb was rated to last for 35,000 hours or something? I'm thinking it should last a good while for most users.

IIRC, the number was higher (too lazy to look it up now), but regardless, it is *WELLLLLLLLLLLL* beyond normal usage.

Now, if you damage the bulb by dropping the unit, or running it over with a car, that's not really a warrantee issue anyway....
:)

Also, stress-test video:

I 'd like to share my experience with herbie...
In fairness, you have left out details here that were included in the comments on your video on your Youtube "Public Service Warning" about Herbie's Dangers.
They are for information's sake available for anyone to read by following this video to youtube.
You purchased the unit from an unauthorized seller, presumably to get a bargain.
You got it on amazon and used the unit in costa rica.
You explained they say that the warranty can't cover it because it was used abroad.
The power cord was connected to ups to avoid electricity fluctuation.
One fellow told you:
Wow I'd say you just had some bad luck. Never buy used. I had mine for almost a year with no problems. I even contacted support about more balloons and they sent me 4 over for free! So I dont know bro I'd really contact them and find out if they can compensate you about this. They are a reputable company.
Good advice!
I told you:
If the seller were authorized you could get replacement or repair
The unit was used connected to unfamiliar current that was likely not considered in it's creation, and this less than consistent current was paired with a self prescribed auxiliary Power device.
I will have to agree with you, that I also would not use any Vaporizer with circuitry under conditions of foreign electrical current with "backup".

I am sympathetic to you, as a user that has had an unsatisfactory (and scary) experience. You did not log in here and make a first post to be constructive. I suspect it is to further vent your understandable frustration, and then in the final run warn off some potential users.
I wish I personally could remedy this so you would have a great vape to use.
I am sorry you had a bad time, but with all facts clear I do not think you are scaring off any Herbalizer fans here.:\

I don't know where you find this false info, maybe in the comment of other people in my video, here the truth:

-I purchased the herbalizer from herbalizer company via amazon they ship it directly
-it was brand new not used .
-i paid 729 usd
-the seller was authorized of course.
-My warranty was not valid because I used the unit in costa rica.
-speaking with an electrician he said there not purest form of electricity than one coming from an UPS
i just share what happen to me everyone is free to think what they want but it happen and was it scary and the fact the company don't want to investigate the cause scary me more.
the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ask me to keep the unit for further investigation , I don't know maybe there were other cases...

I can't accept anyway that a 700 usd state of the art vape could catch fire !!!!

Jack of all trades, master of none.
Sucks you had a bad experience. I think anything has the potential for malfunction no matter how expensive. Hopefully no one else has the same experience.

Also, unplugging it doesn't mean the fire should instantly go out. Once the plastic was burning, it will burn until extinguished.

I am watching your post with great concern since I was thinking of taking a chance. I agree with you re should find out what may have caused the fire it may have been the difference in frequency or something else? The UPS (uninterrupted power supply) does just that for my pc and that is keeps the power going in case of power failure mine also has a surge protector which helps to stop "spikes" in power most UPS have that. So the UPS would not make a lot of difference to power but the surge protection would help the Herbie or anything else for any power spikes.
