Yes it's a great device but, as Paytonpen, I prefer to use it for concentrates cause I have difficulties to get a evenly brown abv, after the 2 or 3 first draws (it depends how big is the load) and 1 stir abv can combust very easily (I combusted many times before to stop to try to take several draws).
Actually I take 2 or 30 hits and keep this green abv to vape it with my Nano, but I'm sure it's possible to don't combust with more practice but my problem is that I like too much thick hits....

No combustion so far, but I was only using it for one evening we will see how it works out in the long run.
I only loaded the stems very lightly so far, after 3 hits there usually wasn't much left to extract and the ABV was light brown. Wanted to try a tighter packed bowl but ran out of butane.
Looking forward to give it a try with concentrates...when I finally get my hands on some... :argh:

the easier way to get some (good) concentrates is the DIY.....

My hammer has just arrived :rockon:

I feel relieved after inspecting all glas parts and finding them in a good shape, was little bit nervous after the numerous broken on delivery warnings.
The custom stem #67 looks awesome, too.

As the custom stem and the GonG-Adapter are honeycomb-filtered I wonder if I even have to grind my herb and instead put little bud chunks directly in there?

Excited to find out tonight. :)

Did you get a nail? Not that it would be that big of a deal but I did not get a nail with my Hammer. :)

Oh I don't miss the nail the slightest, it's just something I wanted to write in every post since I got it and kept forgetting about. ;)

You had to clean your stems? Mine came in a little plastic case with paper spacers so the don't smash into each other.

I have been much more comfortable and getting more consistent results with the water pieces.
I preheat, put stem on, release the button once it is getting thick clouds in the chamber, continue to pull, remove heat a few seconds later, and clear.

I have not gotten the same thick vapor out of a dry piece without scorching my meds. But dry, I still get great flavor, I just seem to have less temp control.



I will add, while it is great this device functions so well on minimal amounts, I wish it could handle large loads better. I don't want to be clearing/packing multiple bowls at night in bed. It would be much easier to be able to load one big one.

I'm pretty sure stirring is a myth. I don't bother stirring because as long as I keep extracting the abv is going to become the same consistency as long as I don't fluctuate the temperature.

If you're combusting let go of the button. That is main cause, if you inhale while its heating the temperature will still rise and combustion is very likely, or decrease your flame height when you get it up to temp. I've been practicing heating up with the dial high, then setting the dial to the lowest and just enjoying the ability to constant stream the vapor.

The biggest load I've done was around .25 with the UD gong, I was quite surprised to see the darkness made it to the screen. I was thinking I would HAVE to stir. But nah, just kept vaping and voila.

But, I have no use for abv ATM, while I have probably over 8 ounces of abv grinded with my coffee grinder I don't think I will be using it. As consuming abv just results in me getting a massive stomach ache. I may try qwiso soon though.

FOR CONCENTRATE USERS
I really recommend trying to create a very thin screen to capture and prevent excess oil from making it past the heat zone in the exchanger.

It not too different from a nail.
Place your dabber in the heat exchanger and then inhale the oil vapors produced.
I like to look inside my heat exchanger and when it gets glowing red (you may need to block light from one heat port) I stop heating and do my dab.

You shouldn't need cotton in your stem or even at all.


My mention towards concentrates users was the only time in that post I was speaking of concentrate usage. Similar to the MFLB Concentrate trays I use a very small UD screen I made to look like a Y/T, it captures oil and is only designed to capture, its not needed but would probably be appreciated.

Idiots guide;
Get your dab ready
Heat the hammer, dial above 75%
When you notice the inside of the heat exhchanger glowing red where it encloses you can choose to stop heating and take your dab
You take your dab by simply placing your dabber all the way in to the crevice of the heat exchanger
You don't have to leave it there or make it dance around

I did that in the second video as I wanted to ensure it got all the oils but it doesn't seem to be necessary.

Great videos, love the dab. Thanks to you I had good results from the get go.
Today I got very close to combusting, closer than I like. VERY dark. Have to say all my fault though, I pretty much expected it to go wrong (held down the heater a bit to long etc...).

I got a UD silicon thin walled tubing, and some formed screens. I pushed my screen down to hold about 0.2.

Just returned from the stoned-age after my first night with the hammer. It is no way a beauty but purely a beast. :rockon:

This thing screams from the very first look "Here to get a job done", starting with plastic attitude from tools you get a glimpse of its power when you pull the trigger. :evil:
Awesome, it feels like your stepping on the gas of a 450hps v8 powerhouse, you instantly get that evil grin. :cool:
After a little charge the hammer is ready to nail you. Just three slams later he's done and leaves you stunned. :haw:
But just as your start to drift away, loosing focus on the tool and lay it slowly down to rest your arm, an instant bite reminds you to treat it with respect, even if you already got what you wanted. :goon:

Really liked the first contact, it's instant fun after studying @paytonpenn excellent videos. Its efficiency is awesome already after the first two small stems. :tup:

When I montioned the mflb whip I'm inserting it into the mouth end of the stem (~5mm) and then using a short mflb stem as an extender. I've got silicone from my nano over the stem to hold it in the 14mm joint. Works a treat if I can find the cable ill do a picture

Looking to get some glass to help cool down the air. This is my first purchase. Any recommendations on what to get?

What I'm looking for something that:
- isn't too big / easy to break (I have dogs)
- less pieces the better

In a side-by-side test, I really prefer using the UD tubing/basket screen stems (DIY) over the stock glass stems. I like being able to adjust my bowl size.

[clarification: not side by side, per se... I had one stem, then the other stem about an hour later, and compared the two experiences]
