OK, so I purged and had a 1/2 bowl w/o any problems afaik.
Did the purge as per
@pakalolo. I purged first upside-down then rightside-up. Filled as per the yt video on previous page (3x3 short bursts). The Hammer certainly showed back pressure / full via spewing some butane outside the valve. There is still the little crescent shape (indicating either a bubble or the surface) in the level window, but it's higher and looks fuller. And the Hammer's a heavier Hammer.
Set the fuel about 3/4, ignited, warmed-up and began my sesh.
Sometimes I didn't see the ignition flame, but would feel heat above and heard the usual sounds ?afaik?, and then I would begin the hit, taste test for vapor heat and continue hitting. I could check for the blue ring first, but I'm lazy, and more importantly, my friend is really lazy, so prefer to have stem attached
before igniting. (Yes, I leave stem off during initial 30 sec warm up).
More often than not (esp. in darker settings), I do see the ignition flame. Sometimes it's quite prominent extending above and outside the device. In darker settings I can also see the blue ring of flame from above.
Had a fine, quick, thorough vape w/o methinks any ignition failures.
Reading your issues many notes to tell:
- The size of the flame/pressure of spitting kind of depends on the tank level. norm is full tank or so for the setting
- To have refilled unit many times could bring propellant on the tank, so you should considerate these variations and a proper purged and refilled device is the norm
- I would bet on too high tuning for gaz flux. Is your unit functionning good only on low settings (0 to 1/4)?.
-Does the flux stop when you release the button or it continues to o spit?
-Many missed click?hammer functionning never miss any click. Flux is too high.
@chimpybits I would advise you to retune the setting of the valve down a bit to have a low temp hammer on the 0 setting on a full fresh purged tank.
On my first hammer i had a medieval torch in my hand with the hammer overtuned.
Later while posting this, I reviewed previous posts esp.
@Vapodudule and realized I should have played with tuning my flux?!
So, w/o the stem I played with the fuel slider and ignited. It certainly sounds quite different at the lower settings - much quieter, not so much a "roar", more of a shhhh. It does continue to shhh (spit?) after releasing the button on all but the lowest settings. I now wanna try at 0 to 1/4 setting next round. I can see how one can listen for the best roar indicating good flux.
I may even do another purge first. It does look like I've already gone through some fuel during these tests. I think I'm getting a handle on reading the fuel level thx to the sideways orientation tip
@ryan8.
I may have also had a non-ignition and heard the hiss w/o the roar/shhhh.
For those posting about poor hit performance. Trust me. No need. Right away this thing hit like a truck. After the initial warm-up period, one doesn't need to wait at all before hitting it. This is also why I'm releasing the trigger. I'm a vaporist, and I can recognize a full intake of high-temp vapor. The excessive clouds don't lie.
We have been running it at full setting. The high-temp (near combustion, very dark ABV) clouds are the way to go for now for my smoking friend.
Myself, I prefer lower temps esp. at start of sesh. I look forward to trying lower settings next round.
Speaking of which, I gotta get outside away from wired devices for the aft. Then perhaps an eve sesh awaits me and checking back in here. ttfn.
