Ultimately the real test for the gh is how it compares to other portable vapes. It would be amazing if it can produce clouds on par with a desktop vape but that seems really unlikely. I'm using a pax right now and it's more than sufficient for my needs in terms of portability, battery life, and vapor production. If the gh can provide similiar performance in a significantly sleeker and more durable package I will be more than happy. I'm not looking to produce enough clouds stun an elephant with the damn thing :p

Being the user of an extreme-q for years, I don't believe there is any chance of that being true. The Q might not compare to the Evo or sub, but the Q can still deliver lung busting clouds with ease. The Q demolishes all portable on the market still IMO , you just can't get the same power out of a battery as you do from a wall. At lest with any technology I'm aware of

this is what i was talking about. i want this vape to stake claim as top mofo in the portable game, however i see this performing to the likes of the TV Evo. which isnt a bad thing. the Evo has its place for sure. and so will the GH no doubt, but the desktop vape comparison... i just dont see it. i hope i am wrong.

if it can chalk glass im sold.

I once worked on a project run by highly experienced project managers and intelligent developers that wound up missing the original release date by 6 years. A 6 month delay is not at all uncommon in a development project of any significant complexity.

A fellow I once worked with had an expression that covers this, "if we knew what we were doing, it wouldn't be research now would it?".

Claims of beating desktops not withstanding, I still think this can be an exciting unit if it ever delivers a significant part of the claims.

My hope for the Grasshopper is for it to be like the next up from the Thermovape T1 (discounting Cera since I've never used it), as a mostly pure convection portable pen style vape with replaceable batteries and quick heat up time for on demand vapor. Ideally with the grasshopper having the improvements of longer battery life, temp control, better heat insulation, no stirring, smaller/stealthier design, use while charging via USB, and perhaps whatever "smart" features it will have as well. This why im looking forward to finally pre ordering one as soon as I can. In the meantime, I ordered an Elevape Smart Vaporizer for pure convection while I'm in between conduction Indica's

That's a pretty good point: for all the talk of unconquerable physics and such, the pax has already done it with a vaporizer of similar size, this is just a different form factor. I know that we're also talking about convection vs. conduction, that seems to be the bigger challenge. I think these guys have an incredible opportunity here, and if it pans out they will be set for life. If not somebody else will do it.

Yeah I just hope they succeed and we don't have to wait for another guy to do it...

Update should be soon.... :D

Is it just me or are these updates incredibly weak for the amount of time that passes in between them?

Here’s an update for you from the team:

Hey Everyone,

We’re back with the August 1st update. More parts have arrived, including the forward control PCBs. Things are going well. Over the last 15 days, we’ve focused on making necessary tweaks to the parts that we’ve received, and we’ve been working with our manufacturers to solve any problems with part production. It’s unlikely that we will ship units before September, but we expect to remain on schedule for delivery to start then.

The circuit design for the Grasshopper has been a long and challenging process. Due to physical changes that were made necessary by manufacturability issues, the circuitry has been through a number of iterations. We recently received the first panels of production boards. See the photos below. There was a small issue involving the solder-mask not completely covering all the traces, so the manufacturer is sending another batch next week. Besides this issue, we are pleased with the quality of these boards.

We’ve included photos of some of the precision machining involved in the Grasshopper. Since the beginning, we’ve talked about how many of the parts are difficult to design and produce, due to constraints in size and the particular demands of the application. You can see the results on the charger parts mentioned last update.

Due to come in the next few weeks are the USB charging cables, pen clips, and temperature dials. We’re looking forward to receiving these parts, as they represent a large portion of the completed Grasshopper. Pictures of these parts and some of the larger machined parts to come.

See you on August 15th for another update!

"Due to physical changes that were made necessary by manufacturability issues"

Does this mean it's going to be bigger?

yep. looks like a card full of the PCBs... like they just snap out of there. i suppose they are manufactured together on a card like that...?

thats crazy..so are these pics legit ? The pens are actually getting made and this is not a scam ?

is it juat me or do the parts look kind of wide...circumference of the pen looks wider than the demo pics and pen they have shown before or is it just me ?

I agree, based on nothing but speculation, I expect this to end up somewhere between the size of an ecig/oil pen and the Tvape.

Im starting to think that as well..there has to be a reason as why they have yet to show the actual pen casing/body shells..all they did was open up last weeks pics from the bags they posted and took individual pics

I'm pretty sure the GH guys said it would have a diameter of 14mm.

That and I am unsure of how or why people are thinking its gonna be bigger then what was shown in the demo videos, I mean its obviously possible since they have let us see a working prototype and all. It's just a bit different to mass produce something. None of those images show the size of those pieces...
