But I cant imagine their legal compliance thing being something that will take awhile to process and that b4 they can ship while theyre still saying the first half of backers are hopefully going out in the next week or 2 unless they are that naive... but who knows

I'm starting to doubt the legal compliance he is talking about is UL certification, but who knows. I can only imagine the potential legal headache of this kind of device shipping out all over the world. Remember the MyrtleZap? No? Legal compliance wiped that product clear away. But GH seem like they would have done all the necessary research beforehand. I wouldn't even know how to accept returns/warranty of used vapes through the US mail, much less all the other business stuff.

"We are working on a number of things before shipping. Large scale testing, final tweaks, product labels, legal compliance, and of course assembly. We have lots of help to assemble Hoppers and are working on setting up the full time crew. As I am sure you can imagine getting people trained up also takes a large amount of time. We cannot accept any poor quality work and right now everything needs to be checked by Matt or myself. Hang in there, just because we are very close doesn't mean we should cut any corners now.

I'm a backer & I asked. This is the reply:

We are hoping to get the first ones out before the end of the month. Beyond that we have to see how fast assembly moves to know how soon we will get through all of them.

Like "Without accepting preorders and insinuating that we were closer to production than we really were, we wouldn't of had the money to continue development. We couldn't crowdfund twice so we went with preorders." <---I'm suspicious this is what happened, ofcourse I know just as much as anyone else on here which is very little.

I've accepted that getting a hard shipping date just isn't going to happen. But when I hear about some of the tasks that are still outstanding, things seem less planned than I imagined, and the explanations don't always make sense to me.

The truth may be, that they have no idea when the process will be done and full production is in swing. Man, I really, really, really want to tell you that your concerns are imaginary....

You're assuming it starts at one, it likely starts at 10,000 earliest...

If I didn't think they would actually be able to complete the final product I would have cancelled my preorder(actual purchase agreement between parties). The backers are the ones along for the ride. Trevor said I would also be part of the second shipment and I'm a preorder so take that with a grain of salt.

Plans are just that and no more - Plans are plans. Much more often than not plans don't pan out as expected, and a whole new plan has to be thought out and planned for again. I believe that they are giving it their all to complete the grasshopper. They may not be the most savy businessmen but they never claimed to be either.

Doubt and disappointment are in the eyes of the beholder. Their PR hasn't raised one iota of doubt or distrust in my estimation. I am not suspicious of their motives and don't read anything deceptive or overly ambiguous into their updates. Any grain of salt that I give to interpreting their PR's is well served on my plate of over 40+ years of international & domestic business experience. This is how it is, and this is how it goes.

Yes sir! I am damn serious! I never rely on faith, nor do I ever advocate for such. I am relying on my 40+ years of extensive business experience, and 59 years of tough life experience.

It makes sense, they have been waiting for the parts, you can't really hire people to assemble these things till you have all the parts. I think they want to run them through good testing as well, after this long wait I can't imagine the backlash if they shipped out a few thousand faulty units. I guess June shipping for some backers and pre-orders start going out in July. Stores will have them by September....

It makes sense? Then why did they list May as shipping for preorders in March when they were still 2 months away from even thinking about hiring people to put the damn things together?

I think this is going to come down to them stringing along backers for as long as they could, then they took money from preorders and they'll string them/us along as well for as long as possible. There's obviously no shortage of people who will believe anything they say and make excuses.

Edit: All my frustration and criticism with the GH comes down to this, and I swear this is the last I'll post about it till it ships... and I think it will.

I think the GH team knew in March when I preordered there was no way they were going to ship in May. I think they needed money to continue development and started taking preorders and using things like the Buzz's video to insinuate (yes I used the word again) that they were closer to a final product than they really were to entice people to send them money. Of course I'm just speculating, I only have 38 years of hard living so what do I know? In my day people took out loans to fund new business ventures and started selling a product when it actually existed.

I have adjusted my expectations to shipping notification in July for my 126xx number. I would happily wait even longer if I knew why I was waiting, right now I'm reading these latest reply's from Trevor and processing a bit of anger. The Vagueness is pissing me off - I'm fine with them not knowing what's going to happen, just stop hinting at finishing and give us details about what they're actually doing! Otherwise it's just a lot of "Wait? They're just getting to that detail now? Then what did 'close' mean months ago?!" And reading Trevor walk back his language around what was once a big shipment for May, it's just unnecessary and frustrating. Expectation management is a skill, GH does not have this skill yet, that's ok for a startup but they won't be a startup much longer (and I imagine there's a lot of pre-order folk on here that feel like they should've graduated to company before accepting their money).

I don't know if the company reads on FC but I would assume that they would since originally the owner posted here on this thread. They must realize how excited that folks are. I hope they aren't toying with everyone's expectations and feelings. The GH fans get a little sliver of hope and get excited then their hopes get dampened down again. I keep telling myself to stay off this thread because it's such a downer, sorry that's how it feels.
