@EveryDayAmnesiac: your recent posts in this thread are dangerously close to breaking our Be Nice rule. You're free to criticize the video and even @BuzzDanklin as a reviewer but you have to be respectful. I'm not seeing much respect in your posts.

Yup. I respect Buzz for what he's doing here but his presence here needs to be put into context. He is not your standard FC member here. What makes him a bit different is that he gets paid to review vaporizers in one way or another. Does that make his reviews any less valid? That's up to everyone to decide for themselves.

But I will say this. I am a bit more convinced now than I was before that this "could" be a game changer but for me, it isn't a game changer yet.

I still don't get how sticking a pen in your mouth and sucking on it is "stealthy" no matter how you do it. I think that stands out anywhere you are. After all, pens are for writing. Although some people do put a pen in their mouth to ponder a deep thought and I guess we could pretend we are doing that but then we'd look like a bunch of "hipster dufuses". To me, the fact that it is easy to carry and quick to hit is what makes this stealthy, whether it's got a sleeve on it or not doesn't seem to me like it makes much difference. I don't take a hit if someone is looking whom I don't want to know what I'm doing.

@BuzzDanklin I appreciate the video. It's showing exactly what I hoped to see. That it works and works well. The fact that the production units should even be a little better is icing or cake or icing. Anyway, it's now just that much harder to wait.

I just want people to realize this video is silly, I would never hit it repeatedly like this in a normal situation. Normally I pull it out, and hit it 1 or 2 times if I am solo and I am plenty medicated.

As far as it getting hot, I can take 4 solid draws right in a row at max temp (enough to finish a full bowl) without turning the unit off in-between draws without needing the mouthpiece, although its warm by the end.

If you don't want it to get hot at all, you click the GH off when your draw is about 80% done, and then continue drawing for a few seconds to get the rest of the vapor/heat out. Then if you just hold the grasshopper in your hand for 5-10 seconds most of the heat will dissipate from the unit. With this method you have to pause inbetween between draws and then turn it back on for each new draw (although the heat-up is so quick it hardly matters)

@lwien I did get to try 5 different Grasshoppers while I was there. I have never once combusted yet in all my testing with the GH. On max it gets dark avb, but I can get even darker AVB in some of my conduction portables.

@Chill Dude I have never carried the MP when I am out, after a couple draws I am always medicated enough.

@TheWhisper It is smooth, because you can set the temp to anything in-between the dials at well.

To me it looks like a pen OR a E-Cigarette device, still stealthy imo....Most people will just see it as that, unless they are studying your face?

I'd be more interested in a "non-review unit" being looked at by pretty much any FC'er.

Remember the "seasoned veterans" who reviewed the Ascent before it was released and it was the greatest thing since sliced bread? And then real reviews came in from actual "regular" units and their users and the shit hit the fan?

I really don't understand getting all excited at this point, but ... maybe I really am an old fogie.

After waiting a year+, now seeing the amazing vapor production and heat up times, and it living up to most and if not in some ways more of my expectations I am excited. :science:

Feel free to feel how you feel about it, but to not understand why some are excited confuses me a bit....:|

Buddy, you know this wasn't Hopper Labs right? this was just Buzz

You know, I do know this.

but to not understand why some are excited confuses me a bit....

I guess I've been through enough of these to know how it ends up.

People get crazy excited, then a couple of planned reviews plays to their expectations, and then reality sets in a while later - and everyone forgets those who weren't as excited. Block out the negativity in the present and the past.

I'm a little tired of it. It happens every fucking time. I'm sick of patterns.

But I guess it's easier to like what makes you feel better about your hopes.

Good luck, everyone. I'm sorry if my lack of enthusiasm seemed disrespectful - I've simply had enough of most everyone thinking the latest thing is going to be the greatest thing.

@BuzzDanklin, that video has me dangerously close to preordering... I've never preordered a vape. I've watched this thread with skepticism for months but the videos are changing my mind. Anyone see a reason they wouldn't get shipped by May like the site is suggesting?
I would wait. all things look good and im pretty sure this vape is the real deal. the video was fun but not really a review imo? more of a demonstration. also did you see his cool sweater? i tried to buy it but its sold out :(

Yup. The same thing happened over in the Mighty/Crafty threads. Even before they became available, people were just swooning about S&B coming out with portables and many stated that they would be the first in line to buy one.

I threw up a caution flag stating that ANY new vaporizer from ANY company, especially a company that has never produced any portable vaporizers before should be wary of being an early adopter because they will go through their growing pains and the company in question will make running production changes until they get it right.

Many in those threads stated that I was off my rocker for saying such a thing being that S&B has been in the vaporizer business for so long and that they are a quality German manufacturer with enough know-how and resources that they will do all of their beta testing in-house before they ever offer up a vaporizer for sale that could be problematic.

Fast forward a month or so and we now see how that all worked out. I have no doubt that S&B will make it right, but what I warned about held true for many.

Now, instead of a very successful company who has an excellent, earned, long standing reputation for manufacturing a quality vaporizer (the Volcano) for a very long time, we have a start-up company who's putting out their very first product and as such, I have no doubt that there could be issues here as well.

Nothing wrong with being an early adopter as long as you go into it with your eyes wide open.

First gen portable vapes are like a new romance. Those first 30 days...amazing. By day 90 you've met the in-laws, and, well...

Things do improve with time though, will this be a desktop killer and the best portable ever, one to end them all? Nope, but it sure looks good to me so far so I will stay excited and hope for the best, if I am wrong and this turns out to be a turd I will just accept that. I didn't look much at the Crafty/Mighty because to me it looked meh, others saw something I didn't, I just stayed out of the whole thing I guess, think I made one comment about it looking not to great as far as portables go but that was it, guessing it hit issues based on your comments.

Staying excited and hoping for the best is a feeling that burnt out of me long ago.

Things turning out to be a turd, and accepting it, is a feeling that burns brightly every day.

I wouldn't say it "hit issues," as it were. I just know how this thing plays out.

See, here is what will happen.

Another review or two, with mostly positives, and some gentle negatives - negatives that are "preference-based."

Then the first FC'er with a regular unit will get his/hers, and will try it once. It will produce vapor. Then that person will rush to FC and write as many positive things as they can in 60 seconds and post it. It will say something like "The GH meets all of my expectations and more!!!!!! All you doubters better be ready to eat your words!!!!!"

This will get about 50 likes.

And this will go on for two, three weeks. The GH will be the greatest thing ever.

Then, the bugs will start to show. One by one.

The all-out positivity will become more real, less positive.

And people will look back at the early reviews and think ... "Wow. Really?"

And so on from there.
