I go where the thrills are
Can someone please tell me if the window turns black after use, obscuring the view of the filled chamber? Thanks.

Yes, a resinous material covers the glass fairly quickly. A fast, gentle wipe with an iso-dipped swab every three or four loads will clean it right up.

It won't turn black because there is no combustion.

But resinous material can build up on the glass if it isn't periodically cleaned off with alcohol.

Has anyone used this that has experience with a Pax? It's the only vape I own but I am really wanting a portable convection vape- this one I think! Just wondering how it compares in flavor, clouds, maintenance, portability, battery... thanks!

My Pax is collecting dust while my Firefly is used nearly daily.
You get longer sessions from the Pax due to oven size, but IMO the flavor degrades too quickly, spoiling a significant portion of that large load.
Taste goes to the FF hands down, but it takes a negligible amount of technique You just draw on the Pax, no technique necessary.
Both produce serious clouds.
Love the FF's design, but the Pax has a killer design as well.
FF is easy to keep clean, Pax is laborious.
FF is very portable, but no current vape matches the portability of the Pax.
Have not run the battery down on either yet.

Love having the Pax in my arsenal but if I could only keep one, it would be the Firefly, no question.

Just to add to what @Adobewan said, the Pax STINKS compared to the Firefly. If there are any glaring deficiencies in the Pax when compared to the Firefly they would be smell and maintenance. And I list maintenance only because the Pax will frequently stop working altogether if not properly maintained. The Firefly requires a good bit of maintenance in the form of cleaning, but I have yet to see it stop working because it's dirty. It's primarily an aesthetic thing, because the Firefly just looks so much sexier when it's clean :)

Well, the two of you reinforced my already formed opinion about the FF. I love my Pax, it's an awesome device for ultra portability, but all the issues you guys listed are correct. I don't really care about smell too much but I do about taste, and the Pax is great for those first 3 or 4 draws then it tastes cooked no matter how much you stir it. I also completely agree about the cleaning issue, I have on more than one occasion been lazy with cleaning and had my Pax all packed up for an outing, left home with it and no other way of vaping or even smoking and had it be dead. I am ordering the FF today.

Been a while since I posted here-- Been lurking around a lot and had to take care of few things...

Have been watching Firefly. I might grab one for the summer.. I've owned a few portables and this might be the one I will enjoy..

Wondering if anyone could post a video of firefly with a concentrate pad like on the herbalizer and Volcano with some concentrate? I'm curious how well it works...

I pulled the trigger when I saw a Firefly show up on classifieds for a good deal... Am waiting for it to get to my doorstep! :D

Time to do some research and find more natural herbs for me to enjoy the convection monster in my hand!

Intriguing. Haven't put anything through my firefly but weed. Has anyone found any herbs that vape nicely with buds for added flavor?

There is tons... Off the top of my head is... Peppermint, Spearmint, Sage, Damiana, Lemon Balm, and Lavender... I am sure there is many more... Some herbs you could just vape by itself or blending with others sans cannabis..

I've done peppermint and spearmint before, when they came with my vapir way back in the day works well and helps with some things but I wouldn't recommend it. From my experience it took forever to get rid of the lingering after taste and scent but to each their own

Looks like you already pulled the trigger, but I just wanted to chime in and say that I use both and find that they complement each other really well.

For instance: I came into a quantity of mids at a very reasonable price, but I don't really care for the flavor and I find the potency to be lacking. In this case I run it all through the pax, since I'm not concerned with efficiency or flavor, and need a longer session.

With some top shelf I am definitely running it through the FF (or my e-Nano when I don't mind being tethered to the power outlet and want to use a water setup). This way I can enjoy the flavor more, space my hits out as much as I like, and conserve.

To echo what others have said, the FF maintains the integrity of flavor very well and conserves better than the pax. I bet you're gonna love it! It's nice having both for sure.

Oh and I like the pax better for stealth, it's the only one I take out of the house. The FF is for when I want to feel like a connoisseur.

SO there is no FF 2.0? I got mine about a week ago (I waited for store to get it in so I believe it is the latest build).

I ended up using the technique suggested by the video review guy (forget his name) where you prime the unit for 8 seconds, release, hold for 4 then inhale. This has seemed to work the best.
I am still getting a few very brown edges, (with either this or the standard technique) which I think contributes slightly stale taste. It 's the best portable I've used by far, ( I have MFLB and original Genie) so I'm not complaining, but it's nothing compared to the Volcano. I know the Volcano has many haters out there, but for me nothing compares with the consistency, flavor, effectiveness of getting the most out of the stuff. In fact, I've pulled duff left over from the FF and the Extreme I used to use and put in the V and extracted additional vapor, even on a moderate setting (I keep my analog V at just under 6 and never move it)

The FF definitely does the job when I'm away from home, but not to the degree of the V. ALso I handed it off to a friend to try in the Bathroom of a Coffee shop alone, and he came back saying he didn't exhale any vapor, even those he primed it for an 8 count, then a 4 count.

My point being it really requires developing a technique to make this work, where something like the V is foolproof, and amazing at parties where I can walk around and offer people the bag.

If a better portable comes along, I'd still be interested.

V haters, flame away. I can take the heat!

So, I'm thinking about getting into vaporizing. Would you recommend the Volcano as a good vaporizer?

There is no FF 2.0...the 1.0 is only just six months old at this point. You do indeed have the latest and only version. The "video review guy" is likely the Vape Critic. His approach is one of just a million permutations of techniques many of us have been applying since becoming FF users. I would suggest playing with all the variables before you decide you've hit the one that's optimal (or decide it isn't working as well as you'd like). The FF learning curve is winding, deceptive, elusive, engrossing, and ultimately rewarding, but also not for everyone. There are lots of great ideas and approaches in this thread, so it's worth browsing, maybe backwards from here...

As for comparing the FF to the Volcano, I'm not sure it's particularly illuminating, given the exigencies of a personal portable vape vs. a plug-in desktop bag vape. It's unfair to ding the FF for not being as easy to pass around at a party as a Volcano bag...it's similar to complaining the Volcano is inferior because it won't fit in your pocket. Different devices, meant to do the same thing but in different ways, in different circumstances.

So, I'm thinking about getting into vaporizing. Would you recommend the Volcano as a good vaporizer?

So glad I wasn't taking a drink when I read this...:rofl::rofl::rofl:

So I was wiping down the underside of the lid and the silicone seal popped up ever so slightly near the mouthpiece. I mean a very small edge but I couldn't get it back in to be flush nor would it create the necessary seal for drawing so I thought why not snip it off what else can I do. Bad idea. Totally messes with airflow very badly!

Customer service said they'll take a look at it. I mailed it and awaiting feedback.
