I haven't had any of the minor technical glitches type stuff at all. But man this device is fucking awesome, just wanna reiterate. You really need to pack it.

Taste of off the hook. Very happy with my FF2. LOVE it. Love that I can take it to the movies or park. taste seems to better than the vapexhale???

And it just looks baller too. At first I was not sure how much I liked it, but tasted some skywalker OG in it, and holey kaboley, that is some tight shit.

Personally I think the battery life is pretty decent, I like taking a hit or two and setting it down. I'd say the battery lasts 4-5 bowls on medium low and temp stepping to medium high.

Just curious, how many hits (roughly, this isn't an exact science lol) you get from a bowl and how dark is your ABV?

To be honest my firefly has been out for less than a week and I'm already missing it, specially when doing chores at home or watching a movie on bed. Best flavour and smoothest vapor in a portable!

I would like to touch on the battery subject though. The battery life in the Firefly can vary depending on a lot of ouside variables. For instance if your using it in a controlled temp environment (indoors) your device won't have to work as hard to stay at the desired temperature as say somone who is using the device while skiing on a mountain. In this case the device will be cold, need to compensate by warming the device up, not to mention the cold air bwing brought theough the device.

Food for thought for those who have inconsistent battery life, its possible that variables as such could be the problem not the batteries. Not to say there aren't bad batteries out there I'm just saying my battery life varies based on these elements. Hope this helps.

I am very surprised at how much of a difference it makes at how tightly packed it is. Its the diff between it working well, and not wokring well. It gets great vapor, and it gets a lot. Its pretty damned efficient actually.

I know, its strange how much my tune has changed. i didn't think it would. But it's a sweet device, imo.

Might wanna skim the first dozen pages....but....it's lighter, smaller, has a huge user-managed temp range, higher temps at the top end, easier to clean, much shorter learning curve, longer battery life, future potential for firmware improvements.

After a wait of a month and a business trip out of town I was united with my FF2 this weekend. Needless to say after reading here much was anticipated, but by today I am questioning the unit.

My green light blinks and turns solid green intermittently so I am not sure if the unit is heating up properly. The green light comes on and shines steady the rest of the time. (most) I do see the bowl heating up, but it is not the same intensity each time. Also even though I am pretty consistent with my draws of 10 seconds, slow and steady I can only get a ok cloud nothing close to the videos I have seen on the FF website and other reviews.

Also I have tried packing it loose but full, tighter but full, and a number of other ways, still unable to achieve the vapor clouds I get with my Arizer Air. So my question is does your green light always blink when you press the activation buttons? Is there a break in period for the unit? Is it possible thermostat in unit is not working properly? Likely going to call FF later today, but would love to hear if anyone else had trouble out of the box.

It just seems to be inconsistent.

To me it sounds like you're stopping your draw right before the big cloud production begins. With this vape your draw controls the heat source so it is extremely important that you take long draws with consistent pressure.

For me I can actually feel the vapor get thicker as vapor production ramps up during the middle or tail end of a long draw. The beginning of my draws are always lighter as there is a small heatup time of ~4 seconds, then the draw produces more and more vapor after the ~10 second mark and onward.

Also don't look just at clouds in videos as they use preparation and lighting to enhance them, look at potency of effect that you're getting.

If you want to see exactly how big your clouds are use an LED light in the dark when you exhale to see exactly how big the cloud is, you'll be shocked if you do this with the FF2 because the vapor is so smooth.

OK I bought it on ebay and it was a copy I guess?

Gotta agree with that. If you're only using herb or are looking for a group or session vape then there are definitely other vape options besides the FF2.

But if you're even thinking about using concentrates, or mixing concentrate and herb usage then the FF2 is the only choice.

For concentrates this thing just can't be beat in terms of flavor, effectiveness, efficiency, and ease of use.

I'd say I get 8-10 really good hits and the ABV comes out medium brown. I've never had the abv come out as dark as a log vape but then again my max heat setting is Medium-high.

The flavor is as good as the 1. The vapor is a tiny bit less cool, thanks to the lid being glass instead of steel. But the flavor of your favorite strains will still be really impressive.

I got my FF2 in on Friday and spent the weekend celebrating. I really like this portable! I'll do a full review later, but there is very little I don't like about it. The short and sweet of it is, if you took all my vapes away from me tonight, this would be the first portable I would order tomorrow.

I lost the docking charger for the Firefly 2 and have no way to charge the device. The company is not selling the replacements now because they are out of stock. They are also $30 to replace + shipping so do not lose your dock!

Can someone with a multimeter and a working FF2 dock do the following:

1. Measure the voltage coming off the FF2 pins on the dock.: Here's how if you have a multimeter but haven't done this before. Should be easy just touch the pins.
   
   
2. Measure the Current. This is a bit more challenging, might require some electrical tape, you'll need to put the meter in line with the dock pins and the FF2 charging pins on the bottom of the vape. Here's how

This seems like a pretty big problem, since the device is quite portable and needs regular charging. I have found that it is not easy to charge in a backpack for example because the device slides out of the charger so easily.

If you figure you're moving around and want to keep the FF2 charged, there is good way to do that as of now. I suspect this will end up being a problem for a lot of folks, particularly because it is designed for mobility yet additional batteries are expensive and FF has not released an external charger for the Firefly 2 battery at all.

I'm very interested in the power output coming off the FF2 charging dock.

If we know this, it could be possible to construct cheap replacement charger for the FF2, possibly one that would work in a back pack.

I could use help from this forum to determine the power coming off the little pins on the firefly 2.

The Input on the FF2 docking port, which is micro-USB is 5V the standard for USB charging cables from Android to iPhone. The Amp amount or Current varies based on the wall-wart you plug it into, but in general varies from .5 to 2.1A.

I noticed while previously trying to charge the Firefly 2 that it rejected a 2.4A USB plug on my rechargeable battery pack. But it seems tolerant to lower current USB wall warts.

The dock itself takes 5v and between .5 and 2.1A DC over a micro USB as Input.

Critically, we don't know the output voltage and current on the two little pins on top of the dock. We need to know this to come up with replacement for the dock.

I have tested sending 5V and 2.1A over the pins, and it does power the device for about 10 seconds, allowing it to connect to iPhone over Bluetooth. But the device seems to reject the power after that.

I am guessing that the dock puts out 9v at variable current to the pins on the device, but want to know for sure.

Loving my FF2. At first, like all vapes, it took a while to dial in. Shit, now I am getting huge clouds. A packed bowl makes all the difference in flow and your hits. The looser, smaller bowls produce massive bowls.

Wow, that is quite a statement coming from you! Glad you like it so much. If someone wants to take away all your vapes I hope they bring a big box with them!

Yeah avoiding it in the first place is the best medicine here. There's no good way to get at the coil...opening the FF up can violate the warranty and there's no guarantee you could fix it anyway. I suspect you'd have to get a fair amount of dripping through the restrictor plate to do any damage, and given the hole sizes it doesn't seem likely but I'd be careful. If you see anything that might have leaked onto the plate itself I would hold the FF upside down while heating it on the Concentrate setting, and see if you can get any residue to drip out of the unit rather than having it drip inside of it.

...convection vapes are not for everybody...(yet )..it's possible the technology will evolve so that these types of units appeal and satisfy all consumers...it's possible it will not...I doubt the firefly will ever satisfy every perceived vaping desire..so what..for what it does...it is outstanding.

I could not disagree more. I absolutely love convection vaporizers. I only buy convection units. I sent it in and they just sent it back. However, I disliked my FF2 so much that I escalated the issue, which has been resolved. It is hands down the worst vape I have ever used. And again, I love convection vapes. I'm not so sure my unit was bad as much as I think you are all drinking the Kool-Aid. Sorry, but that is just how I feel. I tried everything one could do to try and get positive results. Unfortunately for FF2 I have a top tier convection vape to use as a benchmark. They are night and day. I would have been happy with 50% of the performance out of the FF2 for portability, but I could not even achieve 10% of what my other can do. The only vapor I could produce was the equivalent of a nearly done bowl in my other. Bottom line is if you are not getting nice, thick, dense vapor clouds the machine is not doing a good job. Even for a convection vape.

Comments claiming that convection vapes are not for all just makes me sort of laugh inside because I know a proper convection vape is for everyone. They are simply amazing.

I can only speak from my own experience, but if you don't believe me, prove me wrong. I live in the Bay Area and would love to finally know once and for all; is this an overhyped device or was mine in fact defective?

If yours works as mine did with flowers then be prepared to be enlightened because I promise the Dawsonator will make an appearance and turn your perception of the FF2 upside down. Of course, I really want to be wrong and find out this device is everything it is made out to be.

Hey, thank you. I'm guessing the current just varies with the wall wart then.

I bought this from Fry's which was previously reported to have worked to charge a FF1 and has the convenience of a car adapter.

I'll do initial testing with that to see if it can server as a working replacement for the packaged charger.

My goal would be to make it really cheap to replace though, like under $10. I found this small voltage regulator, which I'm also going to test.

I don't think people realize it yet, but for a device like this to be really great portably, it needs to easily be charged from an external battery. Like the one that powers your smartphone that died from playing too much pokemon.

The design of the FF2 does not lend itself to this though, and I don't think it is reasonable to be opening the bottom up and replacing the battery all the time. Frankly, the bottom plate is the most chintzy thing about the FF2's build.

So it will take some creativity to make something durable that can slide onto the device, make the contact and you can forget about it until you're ready to use it again.
