@Baron23 1. It is NOT whistling from outside air getting in. It is whistling when the air passes through mouthpiece/vapor path.

2. If you alter the device in some way, could it produce different results. Yes.

3. Yes, I have only seen 3 people with the issue. Now 2. If I'm wrong go back and find others besides @Reggie Watts and @purplenurple24 and before @colomarijuana

This is not a widespread problem dude.

Edit: To be clear, I'm using the word whistle but it's not like a loud whistle. It's a soft whistle of the air passing through. This is being blown way out of proportion.
To be fair, this forum is just a cross-section of the FF2-using population. Even if it's a 1% error rate, it would result in thousands of total units affected. Plus there could be unreported cases. I don't think it's widespread either, but it could be more than what you think.

Totally agree man. In fact there's one right below your post. All I was saying was what we KNEW at this moment.

I'm sure there is a certain defect rate. There had to be with a new technology product roll out. All everyone is doing is making sure that's what it is so you don't have to send it in for no reason. Hope @Mustang_52 gets good news back.

Firefly was kind enough to have mine sent back for further evaluation. Mine has movement when I push down on the lid at the bowl end. Noticeable sound when pushed down compared to not. Will report back what they find.
Good luck! I hope it goes smoothly for you. Please keep us updated. I'm sure I'm not the only one eager to hear what they say/do.

I wonder how many defective lids will be in week one and how many will remain once 90% of people figure out all the nuances and how many poor souls like purple and Reggie will remain as outliers. I'm glad FF has a couple units in the shop being analyzed to determine if this is a problem and how pervasive it is.

All new FF people please toil around with it for at least a week before reporting issues with your devices. Long slow long slow long slow and remember 20 seconds is a long time way longer than it sounds.

Good luck to all new owners of this awesome device

It's a low 340 degrees in Terpene City right now and my vinyl copy of Traffic's "Mr. Fantasy" is spinning. Do I need to say more?:leaf:

I did a LSD til green went out then touched again till it went out again. Now that's what I'm talking about.

According to the ff support mine checked out perfectly. The most interesting part is they test the draw for resistance. That means that the good sealing is a very necessary for the correct working. I am looking forward to seeing if I can make it work. I could not de-green (abvize) the material no matter how long I tried accept the first time ( first draw). Got it toasted.

Any bets.
If it is not the seal. Then I would be surprised if I can make it work.

That sounds exactly like mine - lid dips down a bit when pressed, and the airflow audibly changes. Looking forward to the diagnosis.

Just want to add, I'm still really enjoying this vape. Using the pinch technique, I get excellent vapor. Someone said it gives a "clean high," and I agree with that. I think the lid issue will prove easily resolvable, but at least there is a simple way to circumvent it.

All,

I just got an update from my POC at Firefly regarding the lid issue.

1. Firefly has shipped thousands of units already and the lid issue is not widespread at all. In fact just a fraction of 1% have reported issues and Firefly is taking the lid issue very seriously.

2. Firefly has a very sophisticated manufacturing plant that is currently producing the Firefly 2. They have added a step in their quality control manufacturing process that further tests the airflow and resistance on every unit going out the door. And there will be a video of these manufacturing changes that Firefly will release in the next few days showing users their commitment to a high quality product.

3. Their customer service team has just today been trained on additional troubleshooting steps. They are currently in the process of reaching out to every single user that contacted Firefly about their lid to share these troubleshooting steps. They'll help exchange or return lids/units as needed to make sure no customers are left out in the cold.

Wow. A video showing quality control changes, customer service has been trained with new troubleshoot steps, and they are reaching out to everyone right now to troubleshoot lids. That's some awesome service right there guys.

If you are having any issues call them. If you already called them, expect them to reach out to you shortly!

Later!

I'm totally hoping that it's just a defect and I'm sure they will rectify the problem. My use was very inconsistent and I do believe there is something going on with either the magnets or lid. If I press down on the mouth end there is no movement but on the bowl end there is visual movement. As I was inhaling you could hear a difference in sound as the slightest push on lid. Like I said before, I'm sure they will make it right and will report back once they find out what's wrong.

@colomarijuana, That is great to hear. I look forward to hearing any advice they could give me. @Mustang_52, mine does the exact same thing and it sounds like Reggie has a similar problem as well. We're in the minority though (which is good) @colomarijuana and his "inside man" are making me feel pretty good for now too.

I ordered blue on April 5th. Just got my shipping notice. Yippee!

Yes! Blues are on their way. I have not received a notification yet, but my order was on the 16th, so I'm probably a bit behind you. Thanks for the update!

So...have an FF1, been reading a lot about the FF2 recently. Did anyone upgrade? Any comparative notes you migh have?

Im thinking about getting it, but can't quite bring myself too. I think I'm trying to convince myself that the FF1 I have isn't working as well as it did when I first got it. This would justify getting an FF2 instead of a mighty. Because if the FF1 I have is working fine and basically works as well as an FF2 would, why not explore around a little?

Maybe get both....though somehow I don't think the wife will fully appreciate when I try to explain that "babe, the VAS got me".

Ha! Not so sure my wife likes that I just bought a Grasshopper too. Oh well, she'll forget I spent money on it when I get it in 4 - 12 months :p

FF1 was my daily driver for almost a year and I wasn't sure how much better FF2 would be. Battery is better as others have said, but the all glass vapor produces the coolest and best tasting vapor I've had on a portable. Worth the upgrade for the vapor quality from FF1 along with some other improvements.

Since they don't sell FF1 anymore, I'm just going to hold on to it for a bit and sell it on eBay for $100 or something.

We have no idea what the error rate is. It's clear some of the lid "issues" are user error. Some may not be. Extrapolating from seven FC folks is not going to help us understand the scope of this problem, if there even is one beyond a few users.

This type of device can often quite reasonably change its draw if you start applying unnatural pressure to various points on the lid. Since the lid forms the vapor path and can be altered based on a variety of user actions, this isn't surprising, and isn't necessarily indicative of a device problem.

I'm scheduled to talk to the head FF design guy next week (currently out of the country in Norway or I would've had this chat yesterday). At that point I'll get more info on this issue and how many users may be affected, if any. Maybe that'll make some of you feel a little better. Or not. Some people won't feel better no matter what.:lol:

This is exactly what FF should be doing in this circumstance. Good for them!! Good for their customers!!
