Long-time lurker, first-time poster...
Thanks, everyone, including
@DDave, for all the help and tips! I've really benefited from your advice and efforts. I’m truly grateful.
I am a patient. I have bad arms and hands, especially now, so I am not much of a forum visitor, nor am I able to read every page on all topics, especially right now, so I apologize if this is answered elsewhere or in the wrong place. I promise I did try and look a LOT longer than I should have. (The arms - don’t tell on me!) When we get me vaping again, I’ll feel much better and follow the rules better, be more helpful. Promise!
I have an Arizer tower-style vape, but I’m honestly not sure which version I have. I’d like to know, if you guys have tips on how to tell. Actually I have two (one belongs to a friend, is just long-term visiting), that were bought at the same time, and are the same model, as far as I can tell, but were purchased from different random online vendors. At least one unit has a button not working (temp is stuck, will only go up, not down, as I recall, I can check, if it matters); and the other works, but only with the remote, because none of the buttons works, I guess. That’s the one I am using. (Until I inevitably lose the remote. HA)
At some point, I hope to send them both in for
service (eh, but not at the same time). A while back, I exchanged so many emails with them about the matter my arms were about to fall off, and they still hadn’t said “yes, send it in.” I think, I hope, they will eventually agree to repair them, but I just can’t deal with that e-mailer, again, right now. When I get at least one unit running at 100%, my friend may be interested in selling. (Kinda hope not.) I’ll find out. But if anyone has a fix that won’t require dealing with Arizer &/or shipping the units off, I’d be thrilled. Since both units have had the same problems (
button or button function ceasing to work, maybe temp no longer goes down, or the “on” button no longer turns the unit on, etc) I’m assuming others in the forum have seen this. Indeed, at this point, we might rather hire one of y’all to fix them. But if someone has addressed this problem, or has suggestions, please chime in.
I have an 18 female to 18 female adapter on the way to try the
Ddave power bowl trick. Thanks! Hopefully, I got the right one. I’ll try to report back.
Finally trying
elbow packing. Some pros, some cons. Maybe I’ll say more later. Thanks for the tip!
Water filtration: Vaping has always aggravated my allergies, but it’s been so bad with some strains, I couldn't even vape more than a few draws, no matter how much pain I was in. A friend has loaned me a simple glass bong for water filtration. (Would you believe this middle-aged stoner, canna-patient and cannabis activist owns NONE? I’m so cheap I have never bought myself a single piece, even when I was a fancy corporate lawyer. Lol.). So I've sent off for an
adapter (the downstem on the loaner is 14mm, but the Arizer elbow is 18mm, if your glass piece has 18mm at the bowl opening, you can use the 2nd elbow to connect to a glass piece) and some
silicone tubing (critical, I’m thinking, for those who don’t need help knocking stuff over). I think it’s going to work. But a water filtration option that is easier to handle, lightweight (a full coke can is kinda heavy right now), harder to break and/or knock over (this is big, I've not even used the bong, yet, and I've knocked it over twice) and economical (I won’t spring for looks, but I might scratch some bucks together for the other, previously-mentioned objectives, or put one on the wishlist, anyway) would be GREAT, if the water filtration proves helpful for me, and I think it will.
But my breathing trouble has expanded to new issues. Just getting dressed, or walking and talking for 100yds causes me to get out of breath, so it’s not just the herb troubling me, right now. I can’t whip vape, regardless of temp or filtration, without getting out of breath. I may have to go to
balloons/bags, at least until I improve. (Not sure what’s wrong, yet, so it could be a while.) But that suggested Arizer balloon/bag set up is just too hard for my hands. Ideas?
Will any of the other brand bag valves work? Like the ones for the volcano? I’ve checked, promise, but have seen differing advice. They are expensive, but would be worth it, if they worked. I’d much prefer a cheap option, especially while I’m, er, a bit ‘under the weather.’ So if y’all have any easy-on-the-hands-and-pocketbook fresh balloon ideas, holla. Anyone easy-to-manage hacks they’ve with the cheaper turkey bags? How do you hold and fill them? The std Arizer way? Geesh. Can’t. My arms are in a bit of a hurry to solve this issue, and get back to vaping, so options that can be solved from locally or around the house would be awesome.
Indeed, I’m up for any
effort or arm-saving vaping tips. Hit me. My only complaint about vaping is that, like nearly everything else, it requires arms. Heh.
Are the
larger, non-standard Arizer elbows (usually in colors) worth the effort and cost? I have looked, but can’t tell what y’all think. What’s the consensus? Haven’t seen them around much, either. Please link us if you like em!
I haven’t tried the
SSV wand yet. Which ones do you suggest? (Link?) I must be missing something. Why does a different glass mouthpiece help performance?
I have some of the larger
ELB (“EZ load bowls, standard for the Cloud vape) screens on the way. (If I don’t post links where I found these all these items at the best price, now, I’ll add them later.) It took a while to figure out what the heck y’all were talking about, so if I don’t post pics, someone else might want to.
That reminds me….
A tip for making the forum more helpful to newbies (especially patients trying to learn a lot in a short time, due to limitations; remember, some people are new to vaping and even new to herb): Try to remember to use as little inside lingo as possible, so those who are reading your valuable insight know what you’re talking about. I know there's a glossary, but folks don't always use those consistently and context doesn't always cut it. I mean, use lingo, but mix the longer/full term in now and then, so we’re not wondering if we’re just high or stupid.
I know my explaining what I’m talking about without shorthand will make this post a long ass-whip (Sorry!), but it will also help someone.
Again, sorry about the length of my post, but it was just so much easier to collect my questions over time and express them when I was most able. I'll feel better and behave, next time. Besides, I don’t mind taking time to thank you for all your efforts in this forum. I am sure that it is really helpful to many people. I’ll give y’all some shout-outs, when I am able to get back to rabble-rousing with the activists. ; )
