Just received my SSV wand after wondering about this for quite a while, but I have to admit that my EQ has been on a shelf for a while after getting a Cloud EVO and GonG stems for a couple of Solos.
A few attempts later, I have to admit that the SSV wand really helps solidify the output in that at lower temps it seems to help give a consistent output more than a thick one, and at the high temps, that thing can unload cannabinoids in a hurry!
I've had a F/F adapter for quite a while that I've used on and off for a specific reason. Even moreso than the stock EQ GonG to whip adapters, I find that adding an elbow screen to the SSV wand creates a situation where the screen is hitting the tapered restriction in the F/F adapter before the glass. Meaning - the GonG pieces are supposed to fit with the tapered surfaces flush making an almost perfect airtight connection; with the screen installed in the front of the wand, the metal of the screen is "bottoming out" in the F/F adapter before the glass parts
It's close enough that on visual inspection it appears ok, but you'll notice it so ever slightly wobbly/loose and ultimately that you're sucking air though making your hit much more airy. This is akin to leaving your thumb off a carb and wondering why its so whispy.
I've noticed that on the stock cyclone bowls, the very end of the elbow adapters (and the SSV wand, for that matter) actually clear the inside of the ground joint and just a bit into the middle area. You can see the metal elbow screen clearly "inside" showing that the innermost part of the gound joint in the cyclone bowl is LARGER than the smallest tapered part of the elbow adapter / SSV wand.
I imagine many of these F/F adapters are made from cheap commercially available pre-ground GonG joints that are then fused together by the glass blower. It seems some of the thicker ones create a situation where the ground part narrows further than thinner ones. Because of that, these thicker adapters have a situation where my metal screen gets caught up before there is a full GonG connection with the elbow.
I like "quality", and to me thicker usually means quality, or at least if I drop it, chances are slightly better it won't shatter into a billion pieces. It seems when I picked these adapters from a LHS before the cool kids were doing it, this ultimately worked against me.
To be safe, I propose a smallest diameter to the requirements of a F/F adapter candidate for those using the metal elbow screens. In this, I mean that we "know" these are "18mm joints", where elsewhere it says it's "really 18.8mm" whereas some places round it up to "19mm", whereas in reality it's the conal area of a range of two diameters.
This means that from the typical ebay/etsy/amazon description we will have no idea if this will be an issue or not and we'll likely have to rely on item feedback and links/reports in this forum. Perhaps just using a stock phrase like "fits EQ elbow screen on SSV wand" on customer feedback or more useful "doesn't fit EQ screen on stock elbow adapter". Of course, these phrases suck and no one will remember them and I'm sure someone can imagine something more catchy.
This isn't a call-to-arms or anything, it's just a perplexing problem I didn't foresee encountering and working at trying to figure it out for the past few hours has left me in a relaxed state to think and write about it
Other than that, does anyone use a different solution for packing the SSV wand? It fits perfectly WITHOUT the metal elbow screen on the end, of course, but then there's no bottom screen / way to ensure it keeps packed. Don't really trust a screen in the F/F adapters, but it does seem to work well with the original cyclone - just a step backwards / gotta really crank up the temp.

... It seems like they may have tried to glue the silicone to the glass as there are two spots that were attached to the bowl. I had to work at the silicone to break this adhesion so I could slide it up a little bit as it wouldn't sit correctly on the extreme q and would pop up and break the gong seal.
