I agree with all of the above about tubing, I replaced mine with 3/8'' ID silicone tubing.
Only difficulty I ran into was trying to find a site that didn't charge ridiculous shipping fees to ship to Canada.

How'd that work out? I've got an EQV in the mail. Am I going to want to replace the tubes it comes with?

EDIT: And I'm Canadian.
No need to replace immediately, I used the stock tubing until it got pretty dirty.

I ended up ordering 12 feet of this http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?products_id=10645
which was the best deal I could find after a couple days of searching but it definitely wasn't cheap.

It would be great if an American member could proxy the cheap usplastics tubing for fellow Canadian vaporists...

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the above linked tubing is a little too big ID and can slide of the elbow, I've had to jury rig it with a zip tie. I would recommend looking for a site that sells the next size smaller ID.

Received my V-Q last week. The sweet spot for me is 165. Packing the Elbow seems to work better than loose grind in the Cyclone. When you inhale while using the Whip, herb is drawn from the Cyclone into the Elbow. So why not just use the Elbow exclusively? "Packing" seems to run counter to the "loose loading" guidelines of other vaporizers. However this seems to be what works best with "The Q".

This is my 4th Vaporizer and like it better than any of the others, including two that cost 2x more and are looked at as the Gold Standard for Vaporizers. So the "Q" does as good (I'd seriously say 'Better') than the "reference" vaporizers without the noise of the others.

If I can find a small "travel" case that could fit INSIDE a piece of regular luggage, I'd be set.

Oh, does anyone have a source for longer "whips"? The one that came with my "Q" is about 12-inches shorter than ideal for my "vaping" room and sofa.

Good Vaping!

Silicone tubing from US Plastics is a better quality tubing and at 73 cents per foot of 3/8 in od x 1/4 in id costs less. They also offer discounts on orders of 50 ft or more.

Curious about why you went with this size of tubing (3/8 OD x 1/4ID)? The tubing that comes with the "Q" is 7/16 OD x 5/16 ID. Thanks for the link, though. It looks like this is the product, and they have it in the same size as the original tubing.

Damn you are right, I must have fucked up with my measurements. But the silicone is plenty elastic and still works well 1/16 undersized.

The tubing that came with my unit is 1/4 ID and 3/8 OD. It is impossible to get the glass pieces out of the stock tubing I have without cutting it, so I think the 1/16th larger tubing is probably the right choice. My :2c:

Been lurking on this forum for a few weeks now trying to decide on my first vape. Long time herbalist, first time vaper. Got the Extreme Q right before the new year and the wife and I could not be happier! My lungs feel much better and we are definitely using less medicine. Got some shiva crystals at the dispensary and WOW! Highly recommended. Wife likes the higher temperatures 220ish. I'm trying to convince her of the joys of vaping under 175. Can't wait to try some firecrackers... got 10g ABV saved. Looking for some custom glass now to improve efficiency... not asking for suggestions as I have already emailed a few people after reading the 85 pages... if anyone out there is still on the fence about the Extreme Q... my experience, best $200 I've spent on medicine in 18 years. Can't wait to pick out my next vape. Something small and portable. Maybe the MFLB.... Anyways, another VERY HAPPY VAPER! Oh yeah, bought it on Amazon from E-Vapor. So far very happy with my purchase. Not sure if they are authorized retailers??? I hope so, as the warranty was a part of my buying decision. Funny thing is, if it broke and there was no warranty, I would buy another in a heartbeat!!!! I LOVE MY EXTREME Q!!!!

I posted a nifty tip in the thread earlier on how to do it easily and safely. Take off the cyclone bowl, turn on the Q to about 250c, and turn on fan3 while you hold the elbow right above it. You do that to the part w/ the tubing and it will come off really easily once it's warm enough :)

@danielofski

not sure. i just noticed in another post that one of the admins added a comment in red and blanked out the retailers name in a post. I forget which page it was on. The admin comment was that the retailer wasn't authorized and therefore no warranty...

I know I am not alone when I say the balloon kit for the extreme q vaporizer is very difficult to assemble. Does anyone know of any step by step guide on how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Ok... 1. you place the glass mouthpiece into the opening of the bag. There are two bumps in the glass piece, you will only be concerned with Having the bag over one. (the one closest to the bag) Have enough bag covering the whole mouth piece. No need for any more than that.
2. Roll one O ring down over the bag surrounding the mouth piece and push it over the first bump. You Should have an O ring situated over the bag and between the two bumps.
3. Take the short piece of bag opening and fold it back towards the rest of the bag. This will cause the plastic to fold over the O ring you placed earlier.
4. With the bag opening folded back towards the bag, take second O ring, roll it onto the glass mouth piece. Push it over the first hump then move it towards where the bag is folded over itself, Push second O-ring over the folded bag and first O-ring and push it over the second glass Hump (which should be under the bag, which is now folded back on itself). The second O-ring holds everything in place.

When you say to have enough bag to cover the whole mouthpiece, do you mean to insert the entire glass piece including both humps into the bag, or to insert one portion of the glass mouthpiece?

Insert the mouth piece into the bag enough that there is enough to cover the whole piece.. so maybe 2-3 inches of the opening of bag... gather it tight around the mouth piece and then slip the first O ring on.

Are you slipping the first o ring over the bottom of the bag (The closed end) and sliding it all the way up the bag and over the mouthpiece?

You can slip it over bottom of bag if it makes it easier. the first O ring is positioned between the two humps with one layer of bag under it. Once there, fold the remaining bag opening back towards the bag, and then second O-ring goes over this folded part on the outside of bag, on the side of hump closest to bag.

Yes, I get the concept by looking at the diagram. The challenging part is how do you get the oring over the bag and moutpiece including the humps without ripping the bag. The o ring is very tight.

I usually just went from the mouth side and avoided putting the O-ring over the bag end. This way you avoid rippin bag. Yeah those Orings are pretty tight, but you kind of want that for an airtight seal.
no trick for getting the orings in place other than trying your damnedest to get them to stretch over the humps and plastic.

Frustrated! For me, the frustrating part is how to slip the o ring over all the bag that is bunched up around the mouthpiece. Instead, the o ring pushes down the bag instead of rolling over it.

First post, I have been lurking for awhile and I've been toying with the idea of getting a vape, I bought a Da Buddah last year for a gift and I have used it on several occasions, I wanted something that was able to bag and whip and stumbled across the Extreme Q and was pretty hooked and reading some reviews on here.

Review:

Purchased: The Other Side on Ebay, I have ordered from them in the past and they have extremely good customer service, they will do absolutely everything to make sure you are happy. I wouldn't hesitate to order anything from them.

Price + Shipping: $156.41 (with 10% discount)

Overall Rating (9.5/10):
The new Extreme Q 4.0 is upgraded with a new Midnight Chrome finish, along with a cooler more compact design. Also included in the upgrades is the new 3 year warranty, clear view LCD screen, "fast heat" ceramic heating, 3 heat sensors, redesigned with solid state circuitry which makes it 50% more energy efficient, and still comes with a remote.

The Extreme Q 4.0 Includes:

1 Remote Control
2 Balloons
1 Mini Whip for Balloons
1 Three Foot Whip
2 Extra Interchangeable Mouthpieces
1 Potpourri Dish
2 Cyclone Bowls
1 Glass Stirring Tool
Extra Screens
Instruction Manual

Bags:
I will say vaping out of the bag is my favorite, I preheat the vape at 210C then back it down to 180C for the first bag and move up in 10C increments after each bag. The Extreme take about 1 min and 50 seconds to completely fill the bag, that is on the Fan 3 setting.

Whip:
The whip is also very nice to use, you can use the "Vapor on Demand" function to control the vape by yourself or use the "Forced Air" modes with the remote. I didn't think I would like the forced air because the hit would be airy but that wasn't the case at all.

After smoking out of both The Da Buddah and the Extreme Q 4.0 I would go with the Extreme because of how functional it is with the whip and bag system. The Da Buddah may get a little thicker hits but the Extreme is just as good with the whip. I have found that the Extreme only takes about 1 min and 15 seconds to warm up but I usually let the unit sit at 210C for 10 mins to get everything warmed up. The remote is a must have as you can control the whole unit sitting on the couch which is very nice. The reason I didn't rate it a perfect ten is because they could have used some better quality buttons and maybe a nicer remote but I'm not really going to complain about that. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and look forward to staying smoke free!

Ahhhh I want mine to get here already! Damn seller got my address mixed up so it's delayed by at least two days. Your pictures make it look way more awesome than any other snaps I've seen of it.

Just try to strech the o ring a little. It's tough, but I was able to get it after a few minutes of fucking with it.

Try using a (or 2) small flat blade screwdriver to carefully stretch the o ring. It is still a pita but it does work.
