Dude, you're in the EQ forum; of course we're going to recommend it! It's a great first plug in especially if "hopped up" with a DDave kit. Get one with the new 45 degree glass so you can use it as a mouthpiece for direct draw and then just put a bag with the 10mm mouthpiece in for a glass on glass experience. If you're really decadent you can then sip the bag through water with a simple 14/10 or 18/10 adaptor. My favorite way to use it is through a bubbler hooked up via DDave's "wide ass whip" (not sure if that's what he calls it)
. And if you get tired of it for some reason it's not a big investment and you can probably easily sell it.

I was mostly asking if anyone prefers anything more, as ataxian said people have multiples. What would you rate this /10 versus Da Buddha, those are the two I am most leaning towards. Will check out the mods though

@straylightFor years I used to prefer turkey bags but this configuration has completely changed my mind.
Looks and feels like a whole new vape.
It hits thick, cool and smooth at 180C for hours on one bowl.
Still trying to think of a catchy name for it.
Also looking into adding this battery pack to set it portable.
- Arizer Extreme Q v3
- DDave 18F/18F Adapter v2.5
- DDave 18M/18M Adapter v1
- Sunshinestore 18F Recycler Hydratube
- Washable Hookah Hose
- 1 inch soft whip to seal
Using 8x 3.5Ah 18650 batteries would provide ~100Wh for about $90.
Should be good for at least a few hours of intense use, probably a lot more.
I'm going to do some tests with a meter soon to find out for sure.
The connectors look to be the right size, hoping to use the stock power supply to charge it!
Now that's a nice setup!!

Great timing on this question.
Minor updates:
* New Glass F/F Adapters: new glass supplier commissioned. Now F/F adapters are thicker. Much more resistant to breaking and vast improvement in heat retention. This was not indicated by changing the kit version number.
And...
* New EQ mod around the corner! This will be introduced as a new mod version number. Micro-dosers, Flavor Seekers, and (possibly) Concentrate Fans will appreciate the new mod. Prototypes are being tested currently. Stay tuned! Crunching to try to get this released before the holidays!

What is a 45 angle? Whip adapter? Glass elbow?
The whip tubing in the kits I list is sized to fit the pieces of the kit. What size are you looking for?

Sorry for the 45 confusion guys but I meant the newer Arizer glass. The old 90 degree bend would break and this new one with a 135/45 (never was much good at math) depending where you are measuring seems made of sterner stuff. It can be used as a direct draw mouthpiece and also a glass on glass mate for the newer Arizer bags with a 10mm male end. You can find one with a couple bags for around $20 on Ebay it should come with newer EQs. It's a delicate thing, this writing posts meant to educate but entertain as well. I fear I obfuscated big time...

Got my vtower (gently used)i won off eBay yesterday. ($40 all accessories with free shipping)
I have a shorty @DDave mod adapter I used with stock elbow and tubeing (Waiting on delivery of 18 mm mandrel and silicone tube from ddave)
I put the provided screen into the adapter useing the taco fold method, and smoothed out any creases, then did a elbow pack into the stock elbow.
I have a solo I've been useing for the past few months, but wow!!!!
The vtower with adapter, and stock elbow with Blue Ox strain had me literally falling down!!!
Dangerous but likeable...,
I knowticed that as I inhaled the screen in the adapther moved and fluttered around
I'm thinking the screens fluttering ways is because of the stock elbow???
The screen moves so much I'd be wary of putting herb in the adapter cuz it's fluttering would spill it onto the heater!!!
Will the 18mm mandel stop the fluttering or may I have done something wrong???

Oh don't get me wrong, placing or replacing a screen is still a PITA but really no big deal, just requires a little focused awareness. Celebrating "Liberation Day" here so I hope that made sense.

However I am useing a ddave adapther and NOT the cyclone bowl. (I ordered the adapter from ddave after I won the vtower)
I've never used the cyclone on advise from here to just put it away for emergency use only.
The screen came with the adapther I got from @DDave .
Now I inserted the screen into the bulge of adapther, and that is where it loosely sits flitting and flipping with each inhale.
Did I push the screen in too far???
Is the screen not supposed to sit/fit in the bulge of the adapther??
The only thing I noticed was I read there are 2 sizes of screens (is this true?) one size for the short and one for the tall adapters.
All the screens I received are the same size.....
And have tried a different screen with the same fluttering n flipping result.
May this be the problem?
Or is my manual insertion actions incorrect???

@Pagliachi : OK it's been a while since I inserted a screen, but if I remember correctly, I had to kind of unfold the screen and place it into the bulge of the adaptor. You kind of have to unfold it by pressing your fingers from one side while simultaneously working it from the other. You're going to have to mechanically straighten the screen once it's in position. That will keep it from flopping around and "lock" it into place. Hope that helped...

So, in new style adapters, center ring is slightly larger than the screens of the kit. It should slightly rise during an inhale, but absolutely never flip over.
This configuration allows one to ISO soak both the adapter and screen together, without removing the screen and get the pieces cleaned of particles and resin.
These are the adapters I now use, I grind fine with a nano-grinder, and have seen no fallout on the heater.

Need to see a picture to verify for sure, but if the screen is laying flat in the center ring it is installed properly. A screen that is concave in shape will reduce its outside diameter possibly enough to allow herbs to escape.

It should pop into place and require very little adjustment to be flattened out.

That's what I needed to know
Yes the screen is flat and loose
After insertion I spent a while flattening and removing the creases.
The way I understood it was that it was supposed to lock in, but I now see and understand that's not true any more. I did not know that.
True, the screens did not actually "FLIP" as I stated.
(Thought in my state of mind that's what my eyes saw) but they do "move" (flutter) up and down.
And that was what concerned me, BUT no longer as that is what it is designed to do.

I'm interested in getting a DDave and a Q to start my desktop vaping experience. What else will I need besides the DDave kit, a Q, and some bags/whips? Is that good to go
Also, general question, can anyone compare the efficiency and taste differences between portable vapes and desktops?
Most definitely! Old inventory was "sold off" to local smoke shops. Only new style adapters included with kits.

Water is nice. If you get DDave's full kit you can rig a whip to a bubbler which is one of my favorite ways to enjoy the EQ. Also the little Pinnacle hydrotube fits nicely on top. And if you have a 14 F bubbler, you can get a 14/10 adapter and use the bag through water. Little decadent perhaps but the glass on glass keeps it from leaking and you can enjoy at your leisure (although after about half an hour in the bag, it does get a bit stale
)

In my opinion, portable battery tech has a long way to go until it's a match for the efficiency, and taste of a good desktop unit....
Conduction is well covered in the portable market, convection need more work....
