The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

I agree with replacing the tubing as opposed to cleaning.
But....I tried a replacement tube for my surfer which was generic and at the same time I also ordered another original whip for the Q. The replacement which was not from the surfer tasted like plastic and the Q was neutral in taste. I might add, the surfer's tubes are also neutral in taste. Both of course are different, in diameter and tubing, but each claim to be medical or hospital grade. I think this makes a difference.

thanks stu, i guess i'll have to just start doing that and just consider it a cost of vaping, just like replacing bags.

i do find the oem arizer tubing to be pretty decent quality. absolutely no taste or smell whatsoever.

I had no problems with the original tubing either. But I will tell you that I was pleasantly suprised by how much better the silicone tubing is to use. It's not as rigid, and I find I like that in my tubing.

I agree the arizer tubing is ok, but now I have the 7th floor tubing and it is perfect.

can get it pretty clean just by running hot water through it/ using a couple pipe cleaners, but ya just replace it after a while

somebody post some pics of a new 2012 EQ for crying out loud. I am so tempted to upgrade

It's like the tubing has rigamortis,a stiff with no taste

I use the same tubing from Amazon; it works perfectly, is medical grade, has absolutely no smell or taste. And I replace, too. I suppose you could clean it with simple green or similar non-solvent non-abrasive cleaner; I've never tried. I definitely would not use iso - that may degrade the silicone or even have a chemical reaction. The stock Arizer tubing IMO is just too darned inflexible and difficult to use with the glass pieces, but it is a Japanese quality medical grade too; still, I would never combine pvc with iso.

Hi all extreme lovers. I have an old one from years ago. I managed to shatter the heating core that bowl was placed on after leaving it for days. Its been sitting in a box in the closet for years. Is it possible to fix? I think I saw a few sites you could send it to get it fixed. Anyone else have any experience resurrecting this vape.

I've done it, pretty easy if you're comfortable with a screwdriver/opening electronics. I'm sure this is somewhere on Vaporpedia
Several of the retailers on FC carry the necessary part. Let me know if you need any tips

Good looking out. There is a definite difference between versions. I'm going to go with your link. I can choose the older model.

Super easy to do yourself. Just don't make the same mistake as me. I was a little apprehensive tightening to the screws on it "too tight" and thought i'd break the glass. Well, because it was only snug and not very tight it became a little loose and broke AGAIN! ^@%^@!!! So I quickly learned that you need to very much tighten those screws and you'll be fine. My experience anyway.

Wow the bags have got me pretty medicated. more so than in a long time... i guess i can just take in more vapour at a time and faster? The only issue is the taste with higher temps... i usually blast one bag and dump and the abv is super dark...around 210 but i think i gotta drop it for better flavour cuz it's kinda gross.

I agree the bags are a nice change, got me surprising baked. I went on a big balloon binge a little while ago after not using them at all for a year. I like it at the same temp as the whip 190 or 195, I lightly pack it 1/2-3/4 way up to the black. blow it up nice and slow maybe just on speed 2, only blow 1st bag about 3/4 of the way up. super tasty. then I blow up a second bag which still usually still tastes ok. then dump

thanks dude, the problem is that I like really clean stuff, so replacing would mean i'd have to let it get pretty gross first.

Does the silicone have a taste or smell to it?

Since you mention you really like clean stuff I thought it worth mentioning the following. I have been using silicone tubing I bought online elsewhere from a medical supply outfit. It looks like it is the same as the tubing on Amazon. The exterior of the tubing seems to attract surface grunge. Maybe it has a high static charge? Bottom line is not that it looks dirty but when I touch it it feels like stuff is sticking to it and I want to wipe it off which is not easily done.

It's not something that goes away quickly or easily at least not in my experience. It seems to take weeks of handling the tubing before it stops feeling weird. If one has OCD around cleanliness or tactile stuff I could see it driving them a little crazy. Are others encountering this with silicone tubing? Is there a quick and easy way to prevent it from happening?

Yes, my tubing has that characteristic too - sort of like an electrostatic charge that attracts lint. But it's not bothersome to me, and definitely there is no effect inside the tubing (I checked carefully). I think it's just the nature of some silicones; I've seen this property in other material, too.

I agree Vape Arts and obg, I have the white silicone tubing, and it gets pretty covered in anything, if you have pets then pet hair...if you vape, then ground up herb/abv...etc

Thanks photobooth for posting that video! the cyclone bowl has been stuck on my heater cover for about 5+ months now...and while it stays very clean (I only pack the elbow), it bugs me a lot. Seeing how simple it is to disassemble the Q, to a point where I could more easily remove the cyclone bowl, I think I'll give it a try! I fear that if I pull any harder than I have (probably harder than I should have) I'll damage the heater cover, leaving me without a vape for a little while.

I'm going to order a spare heater cover/cyclone bowl, so that if I break mine trying to remove my cyclone bowl, I won't be vape-less.

Just a thought... have you tried putting your Q in the freezer for 15 minutes and then seeing if you can gently remove the cyclone bowl. i've never had mine stuck like your's but I would probably give that a try just in case it was an easy solution. i can't see where it would do any harm and it might work but if someone thinks it's risky I'm sure they will say something.

I had tried that a few times, and had no luck...stuck too tight...BUT, I just got really impatient, said screw it, and took apart the EQ. I was able to get the heater cover off of the heating element without damaging anything and my heater cover was fully intact. Once I got the heater cover with cyclone bowl still stuck, removed from the heating element, I stuck the heater cover/cyclone in the freezer for 15-20 minutes. While they were in there I searched FC for un-sticking GONG joints...I found a random thread, non EQ related, that had a quote from TokeCity. The quoted person had spoke with Illadelph and was told that tapping on the gong joint with a wooden spoon would help...

So after I removed the cyclone bowl/heater cover from the freezer, I tried twisting/rocking gently and pulling, with no results. Then I took a wooden spoon, and tapped around the gong joint for about a minute or two. I gave a twist and it snapped free! I got the cyclone removed from the heater cover, without damaging either of them! I put the heater cover back on the heating element, and reassembled the EQ. Once I got to the point of connecting the LCD/control panel and the power cable, I turned it on to confirm it was making heat, before putting it together any further.

I'm so happy I got impatient enough to just go for it, and that it worked! I vaped a nice bowl of AK-47, packed in the elbow screen, sat in the downstem of the bong, with the q held gently in the down stem Cloud style! :) Got some tasty whip-free hits between 165C and 195C.

Thanks again Photobooth for posting that video!

Congrats!!! Thanks for explaining how you did it. Hopefully I'll remember if I'm ever in the same situation.
