I have a question, and I am sure If i sifted through all 116 pages of this tread I could find my answer, but I'm not going to lie, I am far to high, and lazy to do that. Anyway I digress, What temp is everyone using on this beast, and please tell me in celsius, and farenheight ( speaking of which does anyone know if you can convert the readout to farenheight? )
I'm looking for a smooth hit, something that won't make me choke, and give me the taste of burned weed.
Out of the 116 pages, I'd say maybe half deal with just this! Even if not, it's got to be the most common topic.
It really depends on many factors. Quality of material you're vaping, how you load it, bag or whip, buzz you're looking for, taste preference, whether or not you'll use your ABV, etc. Some people like it just almost to the point of combustion to get the strongest hit & most from their grind. Others like to vape just the THC off.
Best thing is to probably start at 200C and experiment up & down in 10 degree increments from there. Setting at 180C will vape off just the finest stuff and usually gives a nice heady buzz. 230C & up is for serious couch lock. Hard to use for evaluation in one setting, but many like to start a little lower and work their way up 5-10 degrees at a time to get the most flavor & buzz. You'll probably get much better vapor at lower temps with better meds.
I also like a smooth hit and don't like the "burned" taste. So I set it at 185 - 190C for the whip (with elbow pack), sometimes even as low as 180C. It depends on how good my stash happens to be and what else I plan on doing. But 185C usually gives me a nice, smooth, tasty hit for what I vape & a nice buzz. I start at 180C and go up 10 degrees each bag for 3 bags usually if doing them. If I'm trying to get to sleep or totally zoned out I may go all the way up to 215 - 220C with the whip. Harsher hit & a little of that burning taste, but it will def give a heavier buzz. Some people use it at 230C or higher all the time.
There are charts on fc that show what chemical components vape out at what temps, but keep in mind that the temp on the screen may not necessarily be the exact temp of the airflow at the point of vaping. It's the temp at the sensor inside the Q (and probably automatically adjusted). Temp settings seem to be very constant tho, so whatever setting it's on should correspond to your range. For example 200C onscreen might only be 190C at the point of vaporizing (or more or less). But if that's where it is, then setting at 210C would probably be 200C at point of vaporizing (10 degrees more). How much the vape temp is different than your setting onscreen will probably depend on the individual Q, fan on or not, individual user and other factors. There is much discussion here about this also. Some are really bothered by it, but I figure what's the difference as long as it's constant - and my Q sure seems to be.
If you scan this thread you'll find much more discussion about what temp is best and why people like higher or lower temps. Higher temps give a heartier hit and more dopey feeling. Lower temps give super sweet flavor and a headier buzz. But, at the end of the day it's more about what you like best for what you're vaping. Experiment and have fun with it! It's well worth it.
IMO experimenting is one of the best things about the Q. I know some like to set it & forget it, but think you'll enjoy it much more if you find your favorite temp range and go from there.
Thank you for taking the time to post that response. It provided me with a lot of info, and a good starting point. I have heard of different highs provide by different strains IE: Sativa's and Indica's, but did not know you can also do this with the temp of the vape. I have been using 220c since I got it, and it has knocked me on my ass with some serious couch lock. I will go with a lower setting with the same herb, and compare.
