does anyone else have trouble with the hands free adapter and standard glass heater cover/wand. mine keeps just angling down too far so it doesn't make a good connection

My VB mini-wands came in the mail today! These little bad boys are smaller than I thought, that's a good thing though! I'll likely still order some small basket screens to try out the mod but the size is very good for now.

Anyways, I've been waiting all day to try this thing out, so here goes! I'll edit my post with results

[EDIT]:
Wait till you need to pull it out and clean it. The "mariah" on my mini VB is wonky and is a real pain to load a stem. Even the stock one they sent me installed was bent.

The basket screens are cake to remove, especially when warmed.
Yeah, it definitely is a pain to try to clean that area around the screen. I like it though, it effectively delivers nice hits with smaller loads. I'll definitely use this often when I'm using the standard setup

This vape is awesome. :D I've noticed the unit gets pretty hot though after leaving it on for a while, is that the same for you guys?

Yeah, the body will get hot after a while. The base always stays cool for me so I can always pick it up and carry it around if I want.

I have never recommended this adapter.
It can work but requires a bit of balancing.
The load vapes better stirred after each hit anyway...
so there is only a momentary thrill where your hands are actually free.

Just wanted to add my input on the SSV. It's a great device, I've had it for a while now. When I first bought it I got it with the Spherical GG, and had great performance. After reading all the rave about the standard I invested another 35$ in the standard wand and heater cover.

When I first tried it, it was so hard to get vapor, even at max temp (I vape at 1/2 usually). I noticed the hole on my SphGG was much smaller than the Standard and that the wand was marked with the tools while blowing so I didn't get a good seal.

They have great customer service though. I emailed them, sent some pictures, and they sent me replacements. And it did work much better.

But now that I've put the Spherical GG, it is SO much better!
Not just the hits, but even the screen holds perfectly in the SphGG when I use the poker to clean it up, while the standard wands, the screens become deformed and clogged really quickly.

It's just my experience, I'm probably unlucky, as I usually am :p

P.S: @Clunis is it harsh in anyway?

I've always wanted to try to SGG HC & wand setup. It's the one that I haven't owned or tried.

It's a fairly large dry hit if you take it all at once. I don't find it particularly harsh. Although, people I've used it with cough a little bit sometimes, but not anything like a combustion cough.

Also, it's a little trickier to get the temperature right because you aren't feeling the hot air on your mouth/throat/lungs. Combustion can happen fairly easily, especially when you first start learning to use it. If you're trying to milk as much in one bag as possible you might end up combusting and having to make a new Vapor Lung several times before you get the technique down. It can be a pain, but in my opinion it's worth it.

Here's the link to the Vapor Lung thread if you want to check it out:

hi guys
ive just bought my third ssv yes third.
I bought one a couple of years ago (silver) and it worked great but turned out hadnt been looked after by the previous owner so sold for cheap and bought a new one orange and purple one.

then I stupidly sold it to a friend.

the vape I replaced it with just wasnt the same so ive gone and got my self a black ssv 2nd hand one from bay.

basically got a quick question. sorry if this is covered in the 230plus pages before this.
but the new ssv the temp knob has been put on in the wrong place. so normal vaping temp with an ssv is usually between 12-1 but the switch comes on clicks around 10.
ive tried to pull the temp knob off to move it round but the force applied scared me a bit and I dont want to wreck my new second hand ssv haha.
any ideas or shall I be ok pulling really hard to get it off?
thanks

Howdy every one. I am pretty new to vaping I bought a MFLB back in August and really like it. I just ordered last night a Silver Surfer Wave Rider series and it should be here next week though and I look forward to learning how to use it should be good cause I will be at a four week T break when she gets here.

You could try using a fork/prybar-like device to pry it off; besides breakage you need to be concerned about the sleeve separating from the glass if you pull too hard. It just pulls off but after time it can get hard.

a fork is a good idea I might try that. another idea ive had is take the base plate off and try and get the temp knob to move round to the correct off posistion by some how moving it from the inside. quite drastic tho.
ive found the sweet spot (12 oclock) to be more round by the 3 or 4 oclock position.
missed my ssv glad to have it back even with a couple of issues. easily sorted tho

Fork-like, a fork may not be strong enough.
Perhaps the careful use of the claw of a small hammer, using a towel for protection.

First off my new baby should be here tomorrow and I was wondering about loading smaller bowls. I was looking at the mini wand but I would also have to buy a standard glass cover as I have the GG coming. I was also looking at doing the screen mod and from what I understand all I have to do is pull the metal ring off of the mini screen and insert it in. What do you guys do and why. Thanks

I've been using the mini-wand for efficiency, but miss the heavy hits of the gg setup. So I'll probably switch back at some point, it's all about what you're after. It comes down to the satisfaction of big hits vs. the efficiency of small ones, with the standard wand/cover being somewhere in between. The only one I haven't tried (yet) is the spherical gg setup, I'd like to sometime as I would imagine less stirring is involved.

I got my Mr.Yummi in yesterday at 7:05 I had time to set it up and do the initial burn in but I did not have time to use it and I might not get to use it till this weekend. Now I just have to figure out how to post pictures from my tablet.

Well a little update I got to try her out tonight. I have been using the MFLB for a bit now and every time I took a hit I would cough up a lung no matter what size hit I took. Now with the SSV it was just like taking a breath of fresh air in no coughing what so ever. I just need to work on my inhaling technique a bit and find that sweet spot

The ssv rewards experimentation. Its got quite a wide range

Coming from the MFLB you should be able to get the technique down in no time.

I find the SSV much more forgiving if you start at lower temps. The heater adjusts quickly if you need a lil extra push.

I labeled the back of my SSV so I can reference my sweet spot and max.

Would be fun to see how dirty you could get a waterpipe w/o water.

As soon as resin hits water it's ruined for me, can't handle the smell. I might sacrifice one of my D-020s, see how dirty I can get it.

I cleaned my SSV wands the other day, it's nice being able to see the vapor flowing through.

That has been my primary problem with water filtration all along.
I found that using cranberry extract in the water keeps it tolerable... BUT.... that leads to the second issue...
I feel I get slightly less medicated. Some psychoactive component that is present in dry hits is left out when using water.
I do not like it.
Dry hit guy here.
