I had to remind ssv to ship out my package. oops! but im still excited for it, and i got a nice upgrade to priority mail so its all good ;)

funny cause i was actually thinking about doing that with a PNWT knockoff too!!! they should make a PNWT knockoff with a side entry so you can leave it standing up for a minute while you put it down

I only wish the herb chamber wasnt so darned large. But after my friends try it they recognize why so little is needed. To fill that even half way would be too much for me and a friend or two. I might need a new screen set up. Might get some colored tubing.

I even put the pwnt knockoff right on the end of the tubing. Perfect fit into any 14mm joint. My heat cover has yellow and green and he knob has green and blue so Id like to trade those for matching sometime down the line, when Im qualified to use the classified section! :peace:

+1
the chamber is large.
I vape efficiently and I can get a lot from a small amount.

Late to posting, but my SSV finally arrived over the weekend. I got a beautiful silver/green/black one. It's hard to see in the pic (actually didn't notice for a day or two) but the base is a really dark green. I'm really enjoying having a SSV in the lineup again. Forgot how nice it really was :)

I'm having a harder time than I remember using it with a water path! Maybe it's because i had a ground glass adapter before but no longer do, so maybe using it handsfree made it seem easier. Maybe i'll have to get another...

Maybe you should give one to @Dr. Plutonious

I bought the VaporGenie and then after seeing the light, made the big step up and got my SSV. I would rank the SSV above the VG. :D

Seriously though, of every whip vaporizer I've seen, in my eyes the SSV is the best as far as design goes. The fact that it works like a dream, cements it as my #1 choice.

I say it has the best design because it's so clean and simple, yet solid and also looks cool imo. The heating element is top of the line according to the manufacturer-- of course, every manufacturer says things like that-- but they actually have a page explaining why it's the best. Even down to the thick gauge cord and plug, they didn't cheap out on anything.

I like the open design because aside from the borosilicate glass cover, the element is 100% exposed. You know the air path is clean because you can see everything-- there's no chance of some nasty dust or mold building up inside some hidden space and tainting your vapor. The exposed design also pretty much eliminates the possibility of overheating. True, I could smash the heater cover and break the element because it's exposed, but to me the positives far outweigh the negatives.

One of these days I need to take some more pictures and eventually write up a detailed review.

the more it touches only glass the better IMO.

My SSV is at 7th floor right now being repaired. (Faulty ceramic heating element). Needless to say, I'm very anxious to get my baby back :p
I LOVE their glass too. I got the Orange Fury glass kit, Space Invader fumed w/ wig wag bubbler & some mouth pieces.

Love love love the glass... only thing I don't love is when a really cool piece of glass gets uploaded with NO PICTURE -.- the world will never know what "this bad ass spherical ground glass wand that is done up in an array of different colors w/ a dichro sleeved tubing and a dichro ribbon horn." looks like. It was only on the website for 3 hours and had no preview picture at all.... bummer.

(Once in a blue moon they'll add something new and totally forget the picture.. but I guess this time someone was determined to get a new SGG wand.. http://silversurfervap.com/glass/wa...s/custom-spherical-ground-glass-wand-sg5.html )

I really feel like when I used ground glass heater cover + wand that I had a much easier time using the SSV with a water path than with the standard glans wand and cover. Perhaps because I have to keep one hand on the wand with the standard glass. Does anyone feel certain heater covers are more conducive to water path use?

Haven't tried the GG, but I like the standard for a water path, it works much the same as a combustion bubbler, except you have a wand instead of a lighter, being able to direct the hot air stream is big plus for me, I set my friend up recently with a standard hc and bubbler, he only has the use of one hand which he uses to hold the wand, bubbler is static and unheld, he brings his lips to the mouthpiece rather than bringing the mouthpiece to his lips ...at the end of the day it's what you feel comfortable with, it's great we have options.

I'm using the standard hc with @Tweak's mini-wand mod atm, it's great for efficiency. Sometimes I miss the one-handed operation as I use a bubbler. But sometimes I miss the heavier hits of the gg even more!

Not more conducive per se....
but each HC/wand combo has its own period of time to become accustomed, after which "it" becomes the most comfortable to use. Learning curve is involved.... BUT each of us will settle on their favorite way.
I see that you have found yours!

Thanks! Perhaps I have. And I keep forgetting I ought to grab one of those mini wands you guys love so much.

@grokit so the gg one actually hits heavier? Maybe my memory is okay after all ;)

Awesome!!! I tried making my own basket screens before and then didn't work real well. The epic screens are kick-ass.

The more I learn, the more your words ring true Vitolo.

This is the reason I don't like to switch between HC/Wand combos, different techniques and different temperature settings between each one. Always takes a few sessions/days to get accustomed to.

IMO, they can all hit pretty heavy, the SSV is a beast.

So I've been thinking lately about Alan's LSV mod, where he puts a HI heat port onto his LSV. Got me thinking, is this possible with glass? Make a glass HC that mates with the nano and HI stem.

It should be trivial, right? In theory, at least. You could use the gg hc, an angled adapter, and throw the stem in there.

That does look pretty damn cool

And with this mod, Alan can even put the original LSV heater cover over top the heat port and it works fine.

I'm thinking 10mm GonG would be pretty cool, the LSV/SSV could have a straight or bent female end and the wand would be male, using a small basket screen to hold the load. Kind of like a mini DBV.

Hey I notice the wiki says:

3/8" ID, 1/2" OD - SSV/DBV (newer style wands might use different sizes)

For silicone tubing, can anyone tell me if those sizes are still correct for the ground glass wand? I use it with my Extreme Q and am looking for replacement tubing.
