That means its important (at least to me )The polish being super well done isn’t important per se, but I find that they need to be heat cleaned a lot less frequently if it is well done.

And you also have to worry about the walls and base being uneven. This, along with heating your nail in one space, is the biggest reason ruby inserts crack while being heated up. This is how my insert is from the first round of GG rubies, and it cracked soon after my first use, if not my first use.
What kind Of torch do you use?Been torching my Constant Prestige insert in one spot since December.

I think it’s only an issue when torching it clean and only torching it in one spot.
What is the temp on your controller set at when you're getting these readings? Just curious.@biohacker I finally checked the temp at my sidewalls vs. the floor on my ruby insert when heated by a 25mm opaque bottom banger and axial coil. I get a temp on the floor of 455F and the walls are only about 425F at the top. So the floor is hotter when using an axial coil as far as I can tell.

It is what I anticipated, however I thought somewhere back you asked after someone (possibly shooby) mentioned the temp was higher at the top of their banger walls. Maybe I lost something in translation. That would make sense based on the contact wth the floor but gap on the walls?

That Sic insert looks pretty nice. I saw a video of someone using it. Have a Dnail Sic halo and happen to like it allot. I'm keeping my eyes on this 1. May have to grab it only for the pure fact that my Dnail Sic halo has been used for 2 yrs now and it still looks brand new with proper cleaning and provides great taste at low temps. Hmmm... *** Edit : Couldn't hold back , I just ordered 1 w/20% off .I received a 30mm SiC insert from Fadespace today.
Wow, super nice! I know this is a ruby/sapphire thread but I think this is the first offering of this size insert in this material...it’s really nice and should be tank tough. Great flavor and clouds at low temps.
Also, I use axial coils and I measure in the ‘corner’ to try to get an averaged temp of the wall and floor.
Has anyone ordered the 30mm bangers from NoisyBeeGlass with the 3.5mm walls?
The 30mm are 3mm but theres a option to get 3.5mm walls instead. Seems like the company maybe in china? I emailed CS and got email in the middle of the night from someone with a chinese name. I asked when my order was gonna be shipped and they said "As the 3.5mm thick banger is customized, we need about one week to produce, tracking number will be updated when shipped out."
Ive never tried a half opaque banger, what about it do u like over a clear or just a botttom opaque? do u use a insert in it?Ahh cool. I was about to update my post again. It'd be nice if sellers would have proper photos of their products. Makes life so much simpler. Time consuming task but not bad when it's done and you're just adding new products.
I hope they come out with a half opaque 30mm. It's a very enjoyable banger, but like a bigger one.

One tthing about fadespace is that he seems to have good customer service and his products do seem good.I know a lot of people hate FadeSpace and I'm not going to blame them at all, but he's always been good to me. Dislike is certainly justified for some though. I don't use IG much so I don't have to be bothered by their antics.
I really like my ruby and sapphire inserts, I do go back to my obsidian insert (SiC basically) once in awhile and like it but always go back to a gem. I am interested in Fadespaces new aluminum nitride insert and tbh will probably end up getting it but im curious what other people think of it? I havent been using spheres much lately but i recently seen that fadespace is offereing diamond spheres and diamond coated SiC spheres for custom special order at a crazy price, oooo diamond, Im a sucker for new shiney things but my wallet cant take that hit right nowJust to bring it back on topic... jury is still out for me on gems as inserts. I enjoy my spheres, both ruby and sapphire, but have already thermally shocked one sphere in iso quench. I knew beforehand not to, was just a test to see how long it would take to happen. I'm very happy with SiC and Opaque quartz as mediums, but definitely still interested in specifically the ruby insert. Just not a fan of their characteristic to thermally shock. Seems more like a question of when more than a question of if. At some point I will pick up one from GG or whoever has the best price/CS experience at the time of purchase.
