Not to be mean, but if you read the thread, you didn't actually comprehend it. Maybe you're confusing this thread with another? I suggest you go back, re-read the thread, and THEN post your opinions/questions if you have any.
Enough with the derail. Going to give this a try once I start vaping again. Would be nice to have access to a solventless extract when the mood strikes.

Worked good on dry nug for me. Just don't want the kind of nug that crumbles to sand the second you look at it, but even that might work.

i just thought of something. what if you were to place the herb between parchment like normal, and then flatten it like normal except instead of squeezing it flat you squeeze it on its side? would gravity force the oil down say in the direction of the fold in the parchment? like letting it drip into the fold?
make sense?
*EDIT* another idea... what if you were to sandwich a nug in two oil slick pads? sure it would take a few secs longer for the silicone to warm up, but should work right? thinking this may save a bunch of parchment/money...? oil slick sells that little duo set. might be perfect.

oh im sure its very easy to remove. i only ask because you throw the parchment away after pressing yeah? or maybe you get a couple to few uses before it needs to be tossed, but it still gets tossed. wouldnt it be ideal to eliminate that waste? the OSPs could be reused over and over saving you money. same goes for slick sheet except more of a point is that PTFE in landfills is not a good thing.

I've actually saved the parchment so far and it looks good as new. I'm sure I'll eventually throw it away but IDK how long it'll last just yet.
If the slick pads work well and last forever it probably is the way to go for sure. I just don't have any to test it, and the $3 roll of parchment will LONG out last my supply of buds to smoosh haha.

I think you need to try this and be surprised. You know I was having pretty shitty results, but after doing it 4 or so times and getting good results every time, its possibly my favorite way to make oil right now. Its so much easier for me.
I might try to squash some more stuff tonight. I can see myself having day old oil from now on. Just keep a supply of good buds, and you can have oil on demand any time

Dropped temperature and changed a bit with pressures and it's getting better. Dirty but I'm not hitting this on a nail so I don't care about the particulate. This is kind of addicting, kinda like making hash oil but without the dangers

I don't have a hair iron, would a regular clothes iron work here?
Or I've got a sandwich press, which has 2 nice big flat hot surfaces, but no temp control...

Do we need heat on both sides or will just 1 side do?
I want it to be hot enough to cook the bud a bit to melt the goodies, but not so hot I'd see any vapor/steam coming out?
How much bud should I be using? like 0.5g? - And I'd expect a yield of like 5% - 0.025g?
Do I put as much pressure as I can possibly apply?

I'm using a ceramic 2 inch hair straightener, 320 degrees. About .25g size buds between parchment paper, press as hard as I can for 2 seconds. I have this thin silicone mat thing I lay on one side of the iron so that nothing slips when I press down. Repeat again to get a second bit. Let it cool and using a safety pin or something you can flick the particulates off before collecting the oil, but if you did it right you won't get much.
@darkrom, I know, I tried it again and it came out a bit better

My friend made some out of the strain lavender today. 10% return off 2 grams. It is the single most terpy extract I've ever had. If this wasn't heat pressed, I'd have assumed it had chemicals in it the flavor is so strong!

Picture time. This came from 2g of bud lol... He got a lot of plant matter in it for this method, but its still insignificant. It dabs wicked clean. The flavor is INSANE. I really feel like I'm drinking lavender essential oil or something. We are already thinking of ways to scale this up because we like it so much. I can not stress the terps enough. Its almost too much for me personally with this strain. It makes me actually feel like I'm drooling. I am trying hard to resist the urge to go on a buying spree and press all the buds.

Didn't get much with bubba kush, but only tried it once. My friend is getting a pretty steady 10% with his strains.
