there are several special edition glass pieces for the RiO out there, recyclers tall and short bongs, etc. Aftermarket RiO glass never took off like others...

I thought I remember seeing a pic of a prototype replacement piece, had a pyramid shaped mouthpiece instead of the tube (presumably to raise the water volume without splashing)?

@EvilJay I had to refill last night. So I got 12 days out of a fill up. That was around 2 to 4 session per night.

Everyone's technique is a little different and banger design will effect how much gas you use each time you fire it.

I enjoy starting very low and slow and getting as much flavor and time from each session. I have found that I can enjoy several hits without the flavor going bad as long as I keep the temp low and don't over heat it as I go.

Out of curiosity, I tried Stashe bangers again and won't be back...

Their no-weld banger is a step forward, but I am finding the same fit issue across all their joints.... no weld, round bottom, and core. They all wobble, none fit tight. I'll continue to source bangers from other sources.

Many thanks for that update. I have often found myself tempted to add them to an order.

Well they seem okay to me, although the fit with the rig and the torch is not so perfect, it worked well enough with the core to give me a decent few dabs, I got this off the frientexchange on reddit, with a flat bottom rounded banger as well that is brand new, the rest was only used once... I seem to have a bit of trouble with the torch though, sometimes the button doesn't work, have to keep pressing, makes it tricky when it seems like I need to retorch mid hit? I just don't know how to get the timing down, watching for it to melt, but feeling like I'm missing on vapor, also though the carb cap gets pretty hot? Hopefully I'll get there, and the torch doesn't need service or anything... It is a pretty nice kit, although it would be nice to use a recycler instead! Think it's a new one:

I did not even fit it on a RiO until after putting the bangers on several other pieces... In every scenario, Stashe bangers have more wobble than every one of my 710 bangers, Even Shore bangers and JHalens.

The fixed torch is what has always kept me from purchasing a Rio, even though all the love it gets around here still has me wanting to try it.

It's just that in my experience torching my bangers, I always get a better experience when I just don't heat the banger from the bottom, but that I alternate between the bottom and the sides (not heating all the way up the sides, but at least halfway up to keep the temperature difference between the thick bottom and the immediate area at the sides to a minimum). Otherwise, the oil wants to run for its life up the sides away from the heat and it can be wasteful/inefficient. That's what has always kept me from pulling the trigger on the Rio so far.

I will say this doesn't seem to be an issue with the standard core banger though... Place dab in the center of the core, and that is what is heating up, so I don't know...

RiO fucking rocks... I just prefer different quartz.
The system works, and so fuckin well, I'd love to hear your thoughts if you try one! It is the ultimate in efficiency and with the right cap, you can spread your material around the dish without sending it up the walls...

I will say this doesn't seem to be an issue with the standard core banger though... Place dab in the center of the core, and that is what is heating up, so I don't know...

I find it to be a FAR nicer experience to load the trough instead of the top/center of the core. It takes a LOT of heat to melt when you load the center of the core. The moment you finally get that chunk of core to a temp that begins to melt, the trough is already overheated and your material is going to run right into the hot spots... It is not nearly as flavorful as loading the trough. You will have much better temp control, you will be able to hit at lower temps and save a little butane. There really is little benefit to loading the core unless you like hot hits.

Give the trough a try and report back!

I have never really been a fan of core bangers, tend to favor round bottoms and standard bangers the most. I went through a deep dish period, but most my caps preform exceptionally better with standard depth dishes. I also tend to always favor standard clear quartz over opaque.

Okay I was told the core is good because it's easier to spread the cold start dab on, and yeah I figured that's where it was pointing and heating so it made sense, I loaded so little of good quality dab that none of it was running down, but I will try, it did feel slow!

Core is easy in that it gives you something to wipe the dab on, but it is not ideal. IMO one is better off with any standard banger versus a core. Try to load your material at the bottom and blast it with a Blazer on lowest setting for 3-6 seconds with a cap on. When you see bubbles start, start rippin and lay off the torch!

The RiO torch may take a few seconds longer but same principle applies and I adjust timing slightly.

Yeah it's tricky, lowest setting often turns it off, and then it is hard to turn it back on lol definitely needed more than 3 to 6 seconds, but I tried with the trough and was loading more, it's really hard to get a sense of when I'm going to get a hit, inhaling too early, but it was effective, but not so smooth, yeah I will try the round bottom flat bottom banger instead, maybe will be more to my liking, just wanted to give core a fair shake first

Really want to love my Rio but I have hard time with dabs on bangers. It always seems so hot and harsh on my lungs. I make fresh rosin and I can use it on flower or use it on a mesh screen and love it. As soon as I try to dab it on the Rio, bam! Can’t handle it! Why the heck is that? I just can’t seem to do a traditional dab. I go as low as I can go with cold-start dabs on Rio. What gives, friends?

My guess would be that you need a better water piece to use with it instead of the stock style?? Convection dabs are pretty smooth, and they don't vape quite as much of the concentrate, so those together could be part of why it is feeling so much harsher for you? Need more diffusion/recycling

I've had my matte black RIO for 10 days now. It is my first real dab rig and first torch driven dab device I have ever used. I LOVE IT! Cold starts are fairly easy to do, my only struggle lately is getting all the material off of the dab tool itself. Slowly getting better at this and heating for a bit longer each session. Eventually I will find my sweet spot for the dab tool, but I am very happy with the results I've been getting.

The tolerances on the bangers are not perfect but each of the 3 I ordered do function just fine with slight adjustments. I got the standard core banger, the core white bottom banger, and the flat round bottom banger. The flat round bottom one is very crooked, material pools to one side. This is easy to correct by tilting the device and using the carb cab well. Doesn't bother me much but I could see some people being irritated by it.

I dropped the included carb cap on my bathroom countertop and a small section broke off. The carb cap still functions just fine. Also picked up the carb cap V2 and really like it. Have dropped it as well but no damage, both carb caps are pretty beefy. Probably need to pick up the carb cap tether!

Does anyone use terp pearls in their RIOs? I am curious what size would be best and how many pearls are needed. Very new to the concentrate world but am enjoying learning. I haven't actually touched any of my dry herb devices in 10 days! That is insane for me. My throat feels a little better as I am only dabbing a few times a day rather than vaping herb for hours each evening.

Once my tolerance for the dabs grows I will likely start switching back and forth between dabs and herb. I think the RIO is a great value and great beginners device.

Nice @Gnome34 glad you are getting on so well with it, I am still struggling to enjoy mine much, apparently my torch was defective so they sent me a replacement, friend sent me a video to try using it with my own rig separately, but I'm still using the stock set up and just yeah not enjoying the experience so much honestly...

For your question about pearls, I think you want to use one that is 6 to 10 mm size, so maybe 8 in between? Or maybe 6 is fine... But you don't want to use it with the core bangers, that wouldn't make sense, I'm not sure how well it would work with the round bottom, but that would be the one to try it with if any... I've actually never tried pearls myself though!
