Tom, those videos are great. Thanks very much for posting them! And I've got to say that with the amount of work you put into each of these, $180 is an absolute steal. Thanks go to both you and Pammy for being such wonderful people.

Qbit, check out ANZ visa debit also.

Takes 1 week to setup, get your card and activate... I got my exclusively for vapes, so simple (and safe).

Mine took 2 weeks/2 days (to Australia) from the day I ordered, I was quoted 2 weeks lead time... Tom completed it in just over a week, then 7 days international shipping.

I'll be very interested to read your review :D

For power supply, Jaycar is the best shop in Australia for that type of stuff. I got a 12V DC 1.5A for $19.95, works a treat.
I received the Purple days in 2 weeks and 2 days also !! and I'm in brisbane. It works a charm, and I'll be ordering another one as soon as I save the funds. My mum has only had 2 cigarettes in the last two days since having the pd, and that's truly a miracle as she really doesent have any self control.

Thanks heaps Pammy and Tom, you have no idea how happy you have made me watching my mum use the purple days and not having to worry about her continuing to damage her lungs.

Thanks a heap!!!!
Well, my order was placed at the start of last week, and Pammy told me to expect a bit of a wait (3-4 weeks plus another 1 for shipping). I guess there's a bit of a backlog at the moment, but I'm not complaining. I don't want to hurry Tom - he's clearly been working hard enough. My PD will come when comes, and it sounds like the wait will be well worth it. :)

And Nice story about your Mum, Willy. Yeah, it would seem to me that the PD would indeed also be excellent for quitting tobacco cigarette smoking, considering it's an on-call device.

Yes, but they are almost $20 for 25 pieces.

I bet you can pick up a few at the local auto parts store lots cheaper. ;) Or check with us for a screen replacement kit (with clips).
Im game. I was actually looking for screens or a kit or somthin on the web site. I either totally missed it or got totally distracted, especially after drooling over the billy bowls. But yeah, i need a kit or 2.

Thanks, the only problem now is that it makes her cough alot, and her friend has the same problem also. I tried it once with some green, and i didnt cough at all....and it worked instantly!!! lol

I've looked around a little, and I see one suggestion being to not take as much vapor in when you first start using, so your body can get used to it. But apart from that, I still dont know the reason for the coughing.

Maybe its one of those psychosomatic things. I used to work back stage for a theater, and one of my jobs was to get the fog machine going. The juice that made the fog was made to be breathable, cough free and it was. I mean i didnt cough when around it

But it never failed that I would here a few coughs here and there once the machine got to really rippin

vapor can make you cough for the first several weeks as your lungs clear out the junk from smoking.

Tobacco is more irritating than the green. Simple, I think.

As an ex smoker (2 packer - Turkish Blend) I found tobacco vapor irritating also, but only tried 2 puffs before saying 'smoke' , yukk !

But to each his own... Free choice...

Suggestions of extra tubing length (3/8" stretchy or 1/2" hard ID) in what ever length can cool the vapor if there is any heat issue (though that is unlikely with a smoker).

Vapor filtration through an ice/humidification or plain water filter might help. Seems to be a common practice in the Mediterranean Style Hookah Tobacco lines, might help a lot in this case... they have been doing it a while. Hope that helps. :)

My wife has a tendency to cough at times with PD hits. I can't seem to get her to consistently cut her hits short, which prevents the coughing, at least for her.

Another way to cut down on coughing (due to immediate membrane irritation) is to thoroughly dry (heat) your material such that you drive off (evaporate) most or all of the non-active lower molecular weight aromatics (terpenes, phenolics, etc). This may mean using a finer powder, heating it longer and/or using a higher temperature than you normally would just to drive off water.

You will lose some or all of the natural aromatic mix, smells/tastes, etc. that many vaporizer users appreciate, but it should help cut down on coughing (and it will increase the potency by getting rid of nonactive plant components being inhaled). Heating at anything less than say 200?F should not result in cannabinoid loss due to vaporization or chemical degradation (while heating may theoretically help, e.g., by decarboxylating native THC to its more active form).

And I have found that doing this also cuts down on odors (adds stealth).

Hey Tom,
Really love the videos, love watching that kind of stuff, its nice to see what all goes in to making the PD.
Mine is on the way as of the 14th (order #2003), hoping it gets here today or tomorrow.
Keep on truckin! ( oh no, wait, that's the traffic outside your workshop :o  )

EDIT: Guess mine's not :( on the way yet, I ordered the paisley and I guess most people order the purple ones, so I assume the ratio is a little off.
That kinda went through my mind when I watched Tom's vids.

Please excuse me if this is the wrong spot to post this.

My wait is over! I've been emailed that my PD has left the building. My Order # = 2021: 41 days since I ordered.

"Oh, frabjous day!! Calloh! Callay!", he chortled in his joy.

Hello All...I'm looking into getting a vaporizer and have spent some time reading reviews and posts here and elsewhere on the internet. From everything I have read, the PD is the one for me. The wait will be well worth it if even a fraction of what I've read holds up...and I have no doubt t will.

I did have a question on the PD that I haven't been able to find (although I haven't had a chance to go through all 130 + posts here) and didn't know if anyone might know the answer.

Are the PD's currently only being made in the cherry wood? I noticed on the first post there were some other options for more money, but it seems like the cherry is the only one available now.

Also, are the Billy Bowls only purchasable through the PD website? VapeNow doesn't seem to have them.

I apologize in advance if these questions have already been answered elsewhere, but I haven't been able to track down any info so far.

130+ posts? Heh, it's actually 130+ pages, with 25 posts per page. So the number of posts is now well over 3000 (!).

Billy Bowls are a PD exclusive. Available in Redwood, Western Maple, and Black Walnut. We finish them with our own Buzz-Butter :buzz: and they now have a PD purple leather inlay in the bottom and lid.

Availability of other woods for the PD? American Cherry only at VapeNow.

We do not use exotics. Only renewable, kiln dried North American Hardwoods. American Cherry is our primary wood. It has the right thermal properties, is physically very stable, is shop friendly, and is very attractive. While cherry looks light in our pictures it does darken with age. In 6 months or so the cherry will be much darker due to oxidation. It makes the wood more interesting. I'll try to get a current pic of the durability unit next to a new unit.

Inquire by e-mail about other woods that are in stock or about custom units. Some wood species are not suitable for PD use. Don't ask about non renewable exotics from the world's rain forests or similarly endangered areas.

Searching says, "I guess most people order the purple ones, so I assume the ratio is a little off. " We supply VapeNow weekly and they give us a heads up on current needs, since order time is longer than production time we can adjust to fit the need. So, order what color you want, there is no advantage in ordering one style over another. :)

I've seen somewhere on this site a portable vaporizer that can be used by putting the bowl into a car cigarette lighter as the heat source. I am currently waiting for a PD to add to my collection and was wondering if anyone had ever tried to use a PD this way.... say you get into your car, expecting the PD to be plugged in, but find it is not.. could you use a PD bowl with your vehicle cigarette lighter? If so.. we kind of have another "portable" option. You could have a quick bowl then plug it in and use it the "right way" in 30 minutes or so... Thoughts? Anyone want to try it?! :p

Edit - After thinking about this with a little clearer head... It might be too easy to combust and mess up a PD stem, but.. may be possible if you're desperate AND careful!

More accurately, you put the car cig lighter to the end of the Vriptech Vapor Bat. Yes, you could use the car lighter with the PD bowl, but I suspect that putting the lighter directly to the bowl would give you combustion or very close to it. You'd have to back off. Finding the right distance from the lighter could be tricky.

I could see some injuries occurring with people playing around trying to achieve the right distance from the bowl/stem. It is still a good idea for desperate measures though. What is the element made of in car cig lighters? I have one in my honda but whoever owned it before me must have used it heavily as its heavily coated with ash and who knows what else, I will probably never use it.

Hmm.. If Tom were interested, it would not be too hard to create some kind of variation of his heat exchanger, but smaller with a little fine wood handle to hold it to the cig lighter while using a pd stem.. or make it fit snugly to the pd stem so it could be used while holding the cig lighter (we don't have 3 hands) You could market it with a modified "billy bowl" as the dugout of the vape world. (Remember me Tom if you run with this idea! I want to beta test!)

Edit - OK. I'm thinking about this alot. It could simply be a slightly longer tip or tip extension on the PD bowl, with small holes around the edges of the tip to let air pass into the bowl near the heat source. The end that faces the lighter could even be closed so that air just entered through the holes in the side, "near" but not against the heat source... (a "tip" you simply press onto a loaded PD bowl that allows it to be heated by the cigarette lighter)

In case there are others that don't understand, the basic idea is that with a simple extension (or nothing) the PD stem could be used with a vehicle cigarette lighter.. just something to "think about".. and I simply asked in the forum, if anyone had tried it, or had ideas, since I hadn't seen anything like this posted.

you mean plug the stem directly into the car's DC power outlet? why would that be better than plugging the PD into the power outlet? i dont get it...

Do you mean operate like the Vapor Bat which can be found here:
http://www.vriptech.com/product.htm

If so, it would have the shortcoming that those vaporizer have. They are not popular and I do not know of any regular user of that type of vaporizer as of yet. Their are a few comments and reviews on those type of vapes around on various vaporizer sites, I would search for cigarette vaporizer or cigarette vape and the the like to search them as nothing recent comes to mind.

Yes, the vaporbat you linked to is basically what I was talking about. I'm not in any way trying to say this is an improvement on the PD, I was just thinking of trying to use a PD stem which is easily tucked into a pocket, with a car cigarette lighter as a "pocket portable" in certain situations,.. and wondered if anyone had tried it, that's all.. sorry to create confusion.
