Please STOP using imgur

Why are some still using this so called pic hosting site?
I don't have he time to follow peoples links to see a pic.
They don't like FC so why should we use them.
Tinypic works just nicely.
I used it because that it what I used when I first became a member here 10 years ago. I’m open to using tinypic if it is easier.

I use https://postimages.org/

They have a screen capture tool for Windoze that is really nice, allows editing, and the user interface is clean and easy. You can also upload pics and get a link and have them not go into your gallery which can be nice for a one-off situation.
I used them for my first 3 years on here, in May they had to change from .org to .cc. It broke every image I'd ever posted on the site. I think they're good now and I don't know if it will happen again, but I stopped using them after that.

Otherwise I have no complaints about them, they were great until then.

Yes, that did happen. I still am using them because of the nature of their service. All my pics were preserved, they didn't fuck me over like Imageshack and others that started charging for their service.

YMMV . . . :peace:

Checked this out & it's a really easy to use, intuitive interface & it allows multiple uploads which is really nice.

Glad you like it. It appealed to me very quickly. I know they broke a lot of links lately but things have settled down. Plus . . . I still have all of my content and they aren't holding it hostage and asking for ransom $$$ like other sites have done to me in the past.

Does anyone know which imgur alternatives strip the location data from pictures?

Too many advertisings & scripts, https://postimages.org/ is really better :2c:

I gotta ask. Did you get the bear ad, "only you can prevent forest fires" & then be redirected to the national forest website? It's the only ad I ever got. I get stuck in a loop between the ad on tinypic & the nf website. I couldn't take it anymore & went over to postimages, which is wonderful. Only issue I have is not being able to move pics between categories, but that might be on me 'cause I haven't taken the time to read.

I'm still concerned about images longevity. On imgur we had the insurance that they would not delete pics. On other sites it's not that clear.

And we've been bitten so many times in the past. Free pic hosting sites turning your pix hostage when they became not free, those limiting your monthly bandwidth when hotlinking... and those just plainly deleting old pix for various reasons (age or just lack of traffic)

So I don't know what to think. I tried tinypic lately but it's crap. One image at a time, ads, plus an annoying captcha every two pix or so. We can criticize all we want but imgur was a very good service. And our pix are still all on there... maybe there's still hope if we can manage to make the classified section visible only to registered users and not to google crawlers (because that was the culprit for the ban)

The other day I was thinking that it would be relatively easy to make some scripts to automatically fetch all FC imgur images and re-upload them to another place. Maybe if a logged mod ran that script it could even auto edit posts and replace URLs in there...
