I wish the non-PVHES 18mm solo gong would come back in stock, the PVHES one I ordered tears up the plastic inside my air. I should have gone with my gut and got the regular one. I never had any issues with the airflow, I just wanted to hook it up to a bubbler.

... the PVHES one I ordered tears up the plastic inside my air...

Hey All,

After inserting a PVHES into my Air it stretched the inner plastic ribs so much that my tipped short stem now falls out. All other stems still have a reasonably tight fit.

However, I dropped the stem from waist height on to a tile floor while filling it and it bounced 3x and broke off right at screened end so now I don't have to worry about it not fitting tight enough in my Air ...

@Prof77 sorry I don't mean to laugh, because it is tragic, but just the way you closed your post gave me a laugh this morning! So thanks for that! lol

I was thinking of getting the regular 18mm gong for this very reason, I don't want to stretch out the rings, however, some "stock" solo stems are big enough to do the same thing I think? All I know is that all my stems fit snug, except the two 70mm plastic tip, they are a bit loose, but wouldn't be able to completely fall out unless I pulled hard. I think the plastic top cap causes a tighter fit than the rings IME.

The Arizer Air + free Authentic extra battery and free shipping in Canada and USA for 199.95 Canadian code is back in our signature ( 156.63 USD at time of this posting ). Thanks to all who waited patiently for more batteries to arrive for the code. https://www.planetvape.ca/air-vaporizer.html

New Titanium Air color is also now in stock.

No worries WoodVillain, we do appreciate the apology and for giving us the chance to make things right so that you are a happy customer, hold tight... happiness is on the way.

Thanks to all who posted their great experiences, we try hard, mistakes do happen of coarse and those we learn from allow us to improve our products and services.

Due to lots of requests we will be releasing Stubby Vortex stems for Air and Solo vapes. We are testing 60mm and 70mm lengths. 60mm gets pretty close to the action and the hot vapor does not have much distance to travel and stays pretty hot. 70mm seems a good balance between heat and size. Any opinions / suggestions from those who have tried both the 60mm and 70mm Arizer Air stems would be great. The all glass Arizer stem included in some Air kits are also 70mm for comparison.

Thanks,
PV

Happiness arrived :D Thank you guys once again. I really appreciate it and apologize for overreacting.

I LOVE this lip balm that you guys included... Im thinking maybe the intention for it is to lube the stems???

I dunno... But it smells and taste great, and works on my lips well too.

Also my vortex fits excellently, its nice and secure without being overly tight... i can even put it in cold without forcing.

Thank you very much!!

Now to help with your questions... i took the chipped stem and another i got in and did some experimenting.

16754992818_69ecbd2775.jpg

I shortened my turbo to 77.5mm and without a plastic tip like the Arizer small stems the turbo gets HOT. I shortened my "shorty" to 95mm and it doesnt get near as warm near as quik as the turbo.... But still warms up noticeably faster than a stock PVHES of course. But this is very close to perfect for me as far as length is concerned.

SO a vortex at 60mm or 70mm will likely get too hot for most in my opinion. I like combustion as well so im used to the hot hits and dont mind them... BUT i dont like burning my fingers or lips and even at 77.5mm it starts to get too hot on the lips so i have to take a break and let it cool or switch stems between session.... I switch stems most the time.

I like the idea of the stubby vortex but think 60-70mm without a tip is probably shorter than a lot of "vapers" will enjoy due to the increased heat. I think 70mm would be ok if you could figure out a way to add a tip to reduce the heat, otherwise id think 80mm at the shortest... 100mm would be ideal for me in my uses...

All just my opinions from my own experimenting of course!!

@WoodVillain howd you shorten your stems? i just got the vortex and i would want to shorten it. i usually end up vaping at yellow and red temps and the weed still comes out a light greenish color .

I ordered a bent stem that was definitely bigger than my plastic tipped, but after my phves stretched out my air even the bent stem was wobbly. I even got the 14mm instead of the 18mm because I heard they seemed to run smaller. I just want one that isn't all sharp so at least my air doesn't get damaged any more. They only have the carb 18mm in stock though, I was hoping to grab a non-carb.

A big Fuckcombustion shout out to Planetvape. Thanks for getting my Vortex stems to me so quick. Thank you for combining my 2 orders of the caps and the stems so I could save on my shipping. I had ordered earlier in the day and PV was able to catch the order before going out.

Also I had goofed up on an order that I was sending to someone else. I emailed PV and they were able to fix my goof up before it went out. Thanks for the great customer service.

I wouldnt recommend the way i did it as it will weaken the integrity of the stem, unless you have a kiln or could otherwise anneal it once finished.

That being said.... I taped the stem up to the point i wanted it shortened to. Then used a belt sander at around 3500rpm and took it up to around 300 grit. Then finished smoothing by hand with a smooth drywall sanding sponge....

Again i dont recommend this method unless you are not worried about destroying the stem and have safety gear to wear while you work... But it did work and i have been using them since without any issues so far.

You and I both brother.... i'd love to hear some more feedback about using the black tip with 14mm glass. I only have 18mm glass, but would go pick up a reducer if the seal is good enough. Even with an imperfect seal, it will only increase airflow, with a slight loss to vapour density?

Just tried my new PVHES stubby vortex and boy am I confused!!! It stayed cooler than the stock short stem that came with the Air which is 1Omm longer than the stubby vorrtex - very noticeably cooler...

Finally tried out the vortex stem.

First the appearance and quality,

Its the best/coolest looking stem in the lineup as far as im concerned, the "vortex" part in there just looks awesome to me, I had to get a mirror so i could watch the vapor collect in the small pathway and then come shooting out lol. The quality is excellent. No scratches, chips, anything. And i really like that they just have the PV "emblem" and not all the writing "PVHES shorty/turbo" etc. like the others. To me, while definitely not a deal breaker in any way, it adds unneeded attention to the stem.

Next up is the fit,

It fit in the unit perfectly before it heated up, once it heats up it wobbles a bit, its loose enough if i try and pick the Air up by the stem the stem just comes out, but not so loose if i hold it upside down it will drop out on its own... Unless i shake it a bit, then it will for sure. Not an issue for me as i dont vape while jumping up and down on my head ?? :hmm:

Last lets talk about function,

I noticed it takes just a little longer to start producing clouds than my turbo or shorty, im guessing this is because the thicker glass takes a bit longer to heat up. I was getting amazing flavor even before seeing any visible vapor though. Once it started producing clouds it kept producing them, and kept tasting great. I find it pretty similar/same to the turbo as far as clouds are concerned but it does seem to somehow keep it tasting better. Maybe i just need to clean my turbo though LOL

I ran the first full session on green and noticed the stem only felt hot right above the vortex chamber, i ran the 2nd full session on red immediately following the first and the heat made it up to about 1/4" above the emblem. Plenty of room left of nice cool glass. The hits are also very cool during the entire 2 sessions.

In conclusion,

This is an excellent stem! It will replace my turbo, mainly due to the appearance honestly, and be paired with the shorty i shortened to 95mm. Vortex when im relaxing and have time to blow, and shorty for those quick sessions when I got work to do!!

That GonG is awesome. I will be anxious to see how it works? Really looking forward to the bent stem when it come available. I've been using the vortex stem that I have exclusively with my Solo unless I'm using a water tool.

A great addition to the PVHES line of glass.

hey would anyone happen to know the difference between the regular pvhe stems and vortex? i was thinking of ordering a pvhe stem cause the vortex is a bit too long for my liking. it's a nice stem, i just would rather hit temps on a lower setting.

regular has a flat partition with 4 button holes
turbo is open .... bored out
vortex has an hourglass type gradient entering and leaving the stem from the medicine area.
thanks for the reply! just wondering is the pvhe stem smaller than the vortex ones?

Planetvape kicks ass. I buy all my glassware adapters (like 14mm 18mm adapters) from planetvape and all are high quality. I decided to buy a grav labs reclaim catcher for my enail. It came with some stain on the glass and getting brand new one (get to keep other as backup.

I purchased a few more things and they dropped the shipping. Great customer service.
