Me also. I've been thinking about going wireless ...

Ouch, this ones for coil usage.

This wireless debacle sure is confusing, when I run a poll a bunch of people say it's not that big of a deal, but then I talk to members and customers and a number of them are waiting on a wireless from me or bought someone else's.

Hard to tell if I should re-tool for wireless or keep pumping out these classics!

I love my ZX. Having said that, there are times when I find myself wanting a ZX with no cable going from the heater to the pid. The reason is I am usually sitting in my office at my desk. I keep the ZX on the desk so I can just reach out and grab it when I 'm ready to use it. The cable sometimes gets caught up or tangled up on stuff if my desk is too crowded (which is the reason that I am anxiously awaiting the ZXXL). I do realize that wireless isn't really wireless so to speak. As in, you still have to have a pid to control the temperature and obviously the pid will have to be plugged in to work. But the idea of no cable between the pid and the heater would be better for my needs. At least then you could just keep the pid and heat stand in the same place and just pick the wireless heater head up and you aren't encumbered by a cable. Within reason, if you use the heater soon enough after taking it out of the stand then your good to go. The word wireless can be a little tricky in this particular realm. As I stated previously wireless really isn't truly wireless because of the pid cable. And the heater will only hold heat for so long before it starts cooling down. So really a person could make the case for wireless due to cordless use. You could also make the case for wired because the heater never loses heat since it's always plugged in to the heat source. The perfect solution would be a wireless zx that never loses heat, which at this time isn't possible. Wait a minute @invertedisdead. I just had an idea. You've been looking at the wrong energy source all along. You should have been looking into cold fusion power for a wireless zx, LOL just kidding. The first round prototypes of the PHASE3 thermodynamically optimized cooling stem are really coming for evaluation, but unless I sell some prototypes it would probably be 30-60 days out for a small production run if the design goes to the next stage.

It’s radically different from everyone else’s cooling stems. I’m excited about it as I think it’s an innovative approach.

On the subject of handhelds with innovative approaches, I've been pondering. It may exist already, as I'm no vape historian, but would it be possible to heat a handheld using a wireless ball vape PID setup? I know they make induction heaters for the dyna/dani/ect... but what about a purpose built vape that you'd heat with a PID, and then use like a dani. A heavy hitter with advanced cooling solutions with the temp adjustments that a PID allows for.

It may exist already, as I'm no vape historian, but would it be possible to heat a handheld using a wireless ball vape PID setup? I know they make induction heaters for the dyna/dani/ect... but what about a purpose built vape that you'd heat with a PID, and then use like a dani. A heavy hitter with advanced cooling solutions with the temp adjustments that a PID allows for.

It could be done, but I don't think there would be a real strong demand for it, it seems to me that much of the point of these newer induction vapes is to try and make something heavy enough to avoid needing a plugin desktop, since that's the metaphorical "end of the line" for most folks on their vapor journey :science:

I would prefer ZXL 18mm over 16mm honestly. More airflow and i guess would work better then the 16m with large quantity? idk. People who want to microdose can already go for the 14mm ver imo
If I understand correctly, the coil is 16mm on that device (20mm on the ZXL). The actual injector is still 14mm.

Ah dang. I mis-read "18mm joint and 14mm bowl" on a previous post. Makes sense.

No worries friend, these numbers all get a bit confusing anyways trying to separate the joint sizes from the coil sizes, the graphic was a better idea to more clearly show the concept.

And for people wondering why, it's mostly because it's easier to reduce down from 18MM to 14MM than go the other way and 14MM glass seems overall more popular.

This one would still be compatible with the double ended 18MM ZXL bowl as well.

Have you ever looked at the Fatpiggie Thermal Accumulator? It's sort of what you are describing but not exactly. The thermal accumulator is just a portable mini ball vape. Kind of like a dynavap with rubies in it. You can heat it with a portable induction heater or with a torch. It works really well. I have one and use it if I'm traveling. Very terpy hits on the first few hits.

What is harder: titanium or zirconia? Im wondering if i can use my titanium scrap tool in order to clean out the bowl, or if it might scratch something.
If I remember correctly, @invertedisdead said that diamond is the only thing harder than zirconia. But I could be remembering incorrectly. I looked at the Rockwell hardness scale which is use to determine the hardness of different materials. Did not find a definite answer.

In theory you could drop any of those stem vapes into an axial coil or one of those axial coil reducer things if it fits and stays there. Might be a bit slow, but has a decent chance of working well I think. One problem would be that many of these devices have click discs in a spot that would be heated directly by the coil.

The slower heatup is both a positive and a negative.

The extra time component is the obvious negative, but the benefit is the beads are completely heat soaked from the slower heating.

Ironically that’s kind of how I stumbled onto creating the original wireless ball vape. I noticed that my torched ball vape design was always better on consecutive bowls. And seeking a more consistent experience, and using some parts I had laying around, including a prototype budget hybrid desktop head I made, I hobbled together a working prototype. The beads have good surface area but a low contact area, so they are rather inefficient in regards to achieving a quick and thorough heatup. That might be the only time “gem cut” beads made sense to try.

My new torch / induction designs don’t use beads but a new convection design I created to address these observations.

It’s a slightly different form
factor but a wireless with a J hook would approach similar results.

Very interesting, I hadn't thought about that before.
My new torch / induction designs don’t use beads but a new convection design I created to address these observations.

I only use it on these two pieces. I'll post a video later showing some rapid fire half bowl hits.

That looks nice! You´re the first one I see using such small dry pieces with a ball vape.
Sounds great that the ZX is actually smooth enough to use them.
Do you post your videos on youtube or somewhere else?

This is my setup.
With the Air Max, I can finish a bowl with 3-4 loong draws with water pieces. Pretty good flavour.
With the M7, it only takes me two draws / two double heating cycles to finish the bowl, which is more comfortable but comes with less good flavour.
So I can´t wait to get a ZX as tasty one hitter! : ) I think it will be the perfect upgrade.

The smaller bubbler is pretty fun for its size btw.
If you hold it correctly, you won´t get water in your mouth even with higher draw speed.
Feels like the draw speed is only restricted by the devices you put on it.
And it fits well in some jackets inner pockets without leaking water lol.

Can someone recommend some PID for the ZX, available in Germany or in the EU? (or maybe Aliexpress)
I have no idea what I should look for, and ChatGPT suggests some completely different devices than what I typically see from ball vapes.
Do cheap PIDs tend to have coil whine? I have some power supplies that make some noise, and I would like to avoid that.
Is there anything else I should consider when selecting a PID?
Blue display would be nice but not too important.

I know what the poll results say. But I feel like there are already enough induction / torch vapes in the market today. Dynavaps, thermal accumulator, Dani, 18 mm Killer, Terpcicle, Tempest, FMJ, Anvil and the list go's on for days. However an entry level wireless vape that is not made from titanium or stainless steel there aren't a lot of choices for that type of thing at the moment.
