Hi guys, i've had my pax1 for almost close to a year now and i absolutely love it. It has been my daily go to vaporizer. I also have a crafty

Until recently, i've had problems the white temp button. It seems to be stuck. I normally start out with medium temp, and then finish off under high level. I've had to press hard several times for it to work. Now, it won't change.

I've read in a different forum from a user of the same problem, he had contacted Pax and was instructed to dampen a qtip with iso and rub around the edges of the button. Tried that with no success.

Im so bummed right now as its stuck on the low setting. haaay. Anyone can give me advise on how i can remedy this problem? much appreciated FC fam.

sounds like honey has built up around or under the switch. Really not sure what you can do about it. Do you live somewhere hot this time of the year? I'd suggest maybe leaving it in your car in an upright position on a hot summer day to slowly loosen that honey and hopefully settle somewhere less obtrusive?

That's my only suggestion aside from calling Pax and seeing what they say

I'm still waiting on Pax to reply to my case. How long before you guys heard from Pax after emailing support and getting a case #? I received a case # Sunday but nothing since.

Mmm, it took a few days, maybe 3 or 4 but it definitely happened. I remember being a little concerned myself, but it all worked out. I know this... I will never go without a backup. And a backup for the backup. When my Pax stopped heating I had to go back to joints and bowls. NASTY. I HATE SMOKING. What a waste of such a beautiful flower.

Good find I will have to pick one up when I have a couple extra dollars, Has anyone used the Pax loader tool seen in the suggestions on the same page? It looks like that could probably reduce what i typically carry, It also looks as if it would also work perfect with my crafty, and all I would need is my vape of choice, some ground up herb in my jyarz container, and this loading tool. Just looking for some possible feedback before dishing out the $20 bucks

Edit: Too late you guys took too long, already ordered and on the way. Will keep you guys posted

Very tiny smear of pax lube or pg on your finger & rub it all sexy like around the rim of the button then warm it up, should come unstuck pretty quickly. Worked for me.

I have a probably fake PAX that stopped working after I tried to clean it. It just doesn't turn on anymore. The battery is fine. I took it apart and it looks almost identical to your picture. What I can't figure out is how the circuit board is supposed to know whether the mouthpiece is inserted and if it's pushed in or popped out. (I believe it works the same way as a genuine PAX, but I don't know how.) I'd really appreciate a good explanation. Thanks!

That's not the temperature control button, that's a piece of plastic that simply covers the LED so that the light is distributed more evenly in the X cutout. You can't remove the temp control button. It's under the white plastic block in the upper left of this picture:

It's not easy to tell from this picture but that dark grey blob at the end of the switch is actually a connection to the PCB.

I just wanted to make this point before someone assumed that you can fix a stuck temperature switch by opening the Pax.

The ribbon wiring that you see wrapped around the top senses the position of the magnet in the mouthpiece. You can demonstrate this by removing the MP and sliding the magnet side up and down directly above the petals. It will turn on and off.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I damaged the ribbon connector when I unsoldered it to see what's underneath the circuit board. :( I thought it was just for the charging contacts.

Shit! Now I understand why it stopped working... The magnet fell out. I found it but I didn't know where it's supposed to go.

Here's my problem: like a lot of people, I'm having trouble with my mouthpiece. I didn't have time to read all 400+ pages of this thread, but I did read all the ones that came up in a Google search for "pax mouthpiece stuck" and no one seems to be having the exact issue that I'm having. Most of the problems on here are due to an accumulation of honey on moving parts, but I don't think that's the case with me. The mouthpiece moves, at least well enough to click, but no matter what I do it won't uncatch. I've tried warming with my hands, blowing gently into it, putting it in the sun, using a hair dryer, and putting it beneath the cat. :lol: No matter what I do, it won't pop out.

Any suggestions? Anyone else had this problem? Please don't make me go back to combustion!

I had that happen to mine at one point and I bent a paperclip and slid it under the mouthpiece and pulled it loose. I am not going to -recommend- doing that because when I did it the spring came out a bit as well, but after I put the spring back in place it was fine. Edit: Actually, this might have happened with the knockoff Pax I had before my official one, I'm not sure.

Cool. Thanks for posting.

I was using a precision screwdriver to try to pry out the screen so I could send a paperclip through the other end when, on a whim, I tried fishing for an obstruction on the hitter end. Don't see how that coulda been the cause, but it chose that moment to dislodge. I gave the mouthpiece assembly a nice long soak in ISO, scrubbed it with a brush, and lubed it liberally. Seems to work fine now.

Fingers crossed for now, but should I order a new one just in case? Yea or nay?

So, Pax customer support is really good. I sent my Purple Pax 1 in for service. It didn't charge after only 20 or so uses. Unfortunately I got a black one back but that's ok. I am using the Haze V3.0 as my portable so I gave the new Pax to my Girlfriend (who REALLY wanted the purple one lol). She likes the way it hits although she said it was a little restrictive and you had to pack way too big of bowls. I agree with both of those assessments. I used to fold a screen in half to remedy the bowl size but it was messy and fiddly. I was looking at the Pax 1 pusher, the upgraded screen, and the vented lid. I don't want to buy all 3 of these because that would be another $55 and I don't want to spend that on Pax accessories. If I was only going to get 1 accessory which would you get? Those of you who use these add-ons how do you like them?

Haven't tried the vented lid but I have the pusher and bottom screen. I didn't like the bottom screen at all, it was messy, and didn't to my mind improve airflow that much. The pusher I LOVE. Works waaaaaaay better than a folded screen. Makes packing so much simpler too. If I lost mine I would immediately go buy another one.

I've been at GC for awhile, but they don't really have a lot of vaporizer discussion going on, so I was referred to here. I've had my Pax since February 2015 (but I didn't realize how to use it properly so I barely used it up until 2-3 months ago). This thing is great, but I have a quick question about it:

Pax generally advises to only get two sessions off one oven, which I mean was ok for me way back when I wasn't completely broke in college. Right now, I'm packing about .25g ovens, and trying to get 3 session off it.
To me it seems like whenever I shut the Pax off and go back to it later, the vapor production is noticeably less than it would be if I just vaped it all in one session. By the third session, it's barely producing anything, mostly just hot air. The herbs are browned, definitely not overcooked.

My question is: Has anyone used their Pax just to take about 2-4 pulls off it, then put it up, take 2-4 pulls, and do this til the herb is spent? Does it work well, and how many sessions can you get? If so, I'll probably start packing them full, as they're more efficient.

A load that has been heated more than once has been heated than a load that you finish in one session because it has to be heated up from cold every time you turn it on. This extra heating is a large contributor to your problem. You can try using much smaller loads. Mine are typically about .07 g, or roughly a third of your load. I got acceptable results just by packing that size of load tightly, but most people would use some sort of spacer to keep the load tightly packed. Check this thread for some ideas.

Incidentally, one of the major changes in the Pax 2 design was to minimize the effect of the always-on oven.

I read EVERYTHING about this device back in 2013 so I had a pretty good 'sense' of how to properly use, clean, and enjoy the product. I use micro-loads and place an additional screen atop the material....then a bent screen atop that to shorten the oven. I start low....next session medium...next session high. Often a load will last me a week or more (I know I know). I have never had a serious problem nor have I needed to replace any parts. I clean it regularly and it looks nearly new. I figured it was time to tell PAX and FC that this was a great and groundbreaking device.

Of course I don't find that newbs always understand my PAX in a group setting. Of course I don't like cleaning this device (p in the a). Of course the mouthpiece can be wonky for the uninitiated. Of course their are 'better' devices available today. But again....this device has worked flawlessly for me for almost 3 years.

I thought about this today as I expect to receive my FF2 tomorrow. I've also ordered a GH...though it sounds like I might not receive it for a long long while. Meantime....PAX1 keeps truckin' on.

I can help with that! We can do a normal warranty inspection and, should a new replacement be necessary, we'll go about it in a super roundabout way (sorry in advance):

We ship our new replacements from our warehouse, but do the inspections at HQ. We can hold on to your original device and send you a new replacement. Once the new one is received, we'll get it back in (roundabout as heck) and I'll swap the shell for you and send it back with some extra goodies.

If you're down to start that process just submit a support request and PM me the case number on here. I'll facilitate the swap once our techs approve a warranty service.

I've had my PAX2 just over 1 year. This week after cleaning and charging ... it wont turn on. :(

The power button doesn't work with any amount of pressing, if I take the mouthpiece out and lightly press where the button it - still no joy. Emailed support, didnt hear back so I lightly ping'd them. Got a strange reply asking for a 1-2 min video of it not turning on? This is RMA process?

Ojan - I've been following this thread for years, I have a PAX 1 & 2, I have heard about great CS and warranty from Ploom which is why I keep buying PAX's. How long does the process usually take? (going on vaca next week, was hoping it could be replaced) Is it normal to ask for a video to prove an issue prior to RMA? I'm happy to send this in to you guys to examine, etc... thx.

The out and about in the Pacific Ocean or some sea I think the PAX would be a nice tool on a boat?
When CANNABIS becomes legal a PAX stand at the boat shop would move product!

The Customer Service emails I've gotten so far have been confusing and sort of frustrating.

I'll give Ojan a chance to explain (before I start posting them here). They have "cutesy" wording about "me being worried about my buddy" (my PAX2), ... and very little real info on how I'll get my unit inspected or replaced in any kind of timely fashion.

Where is the process listed for how to RMA?? (PAX website has nothing)

Boasting a 10 year warranty is great, unless actually using it is painful/confusing.

(My "angst" is due to me leaving on vacation on Tues, I was hoping I initiated the Customer Support process early enough on a Friday to get action by Tuesday. My retailer wouldn't swap out the unit since it was over a month purchased.)

Net-net: No vape for vacation, PAX CS has been so cryptic in their replies that I don't know what I'll be expected to do to RMA this unit. I'll be gone next week and unable to take any action to send it in or make more videos of it not working. Which could push this into a much longer affair. :( So bummed!
