I just cleaned my Pax and now the heater won't turn off! I usually turn on my pax after cleaning to help the alcohol evaporate quickly but when I tried it just now the device got stuck on the purple-light heat-up mode. I turned it off, popped off the mouthpiece, and set it to the lowest temperature. I put the mouthpiece back on, the light turned purple as it began to heat up, and the same thing happened. It just got hotter and hotter until I turned it off after ~90 seconds.

Is there anything I can do to fix it? Has anyone experienced this before? I searched for this problem on google and came up empty.

@scott_dunlap and @Ojan_at_PAX , I know this is not the Pax 1 forum, but I have asked this question before and no one can give me a straight answer, and now that the Pax 2 is about to be released it applies to it too.
If the warranty is for 10 years, I know the battery is not covered, is there a program in place to have them replaced for a fee?

Although I don't have any specifics on PAX 2, we do have a battery replacement program for PAX 1. Reach out to us via email, live chat, social media, or here, and we'll do some troubleshooting. If a warranty inspection sounds like the best way to go about things then we'll pay for you to send your PAX 1 to us for a closer look (unless you're in Canada, where we'll ask you to foot the bill but throw in a pack of screens upon return).

Myself, or one of our other techs, will do our thing and try to pinpoint an issue and attempt a repair. If it turns out that your PAX 1 is functioning as expected but the battery life has naturally degraded to a point where you're not thrilled about then we can authorize the purchase of a new PAX 1 at 50% off.

Fun fact: no one has needed to take advantage of this program since PAX 1 has been on the market. These batteries are meant to last for a long time. Our warranty is there to help, and never hinder, so we look for every opportunity to resolve cases under it and not ask a consumer to pay anything.

mod note: This information was originally posted in the Pax 2 thread. It has been copied here since it includes an answer of interest to original Pax owners.

Hello everyone I'm new to posting on this site. Have just always lurked, gathering info on vaporizers I have. You've all been very helpful I might add. I'm in a bit of a pickle and just wanted to know how the hell to get my hands on the new pax. I'm in Europe. So to my fellow Europe folk, just how did you manage to get your hands on a pax. The company I'm told wants nothing to do with the euro market (wonder why) and I unfortunately don't have any friends in the US or Canada willing to forward it to me(they're all immigrants and are very cautious about stuff like this). So, any ideas? How did you manage to get a pax in Europe. I want the pax 2 badly

I read an article about the company that mentions that there have been some big changes behind the scenes. I don't know about Europe specifically, but it sounds like they will be expanding beyond the US with their products soon.

Here is an excerpt:

The company that designed the device is now known as Pax Labs, after it dissolved a partnership with Japan Tobacco International (JTI) and sold off its rights to the Ploom name.

While JTI will continue to manufacture the Ploom Pod devices, Pax Labs is now free to develop and distribute its own products — including the Pax 2. As a result, the company has big plans to make its vaporizer available in markets outside the U.S. for the first time.

Thanks for the response. Always wondered about the strict adhesion to the U.S. And Canada market only and searched the threads endlessly for info. Downsides of being a passive member I guess. Glad to be active now

I don't know if you've been reading the Pax 2 thread, but this was posted by one of the guys from Pax Labs to a member in Scotland:

"We have recently regained the rights to sell internationally and are hoping to be in retailers in your area by this summer, and have online capabilities fairly soon. Thanks for waiting!"

Funny thing happened.
I enjoy my Pax, but have only used it about twice a week since I got it a long while back.
(well over 2 years ago!)
I have had my Pax for 24 hours now....
.....So far my experience with the Pax has left much to be desired.
...and will report back.
I loved using the Pax, but put it lower in my rotation, due to finicky operation of the mouthpiece (I had a spare also), and cleanup was needed quickly.
I still use my Pax.
I assumed everyone's was similar to mine.
I still need to keep the mouthpiece in a perfect position (even the spare mouthpiece), while it is warming up. Finger sort of pressing it down and to the side. This would keep it heating... and once "green" it would function perfectly. The light still goes "red" instead of warm-up lavender if I remove my finger from "initial heat-up position".
Now 2.5 years later, I have a couple great observations... one about my unit, and the other about Pax.
First off, congrats to the Pax team ... my battery is as strong as it was on day 1.
Second...
I recently did a demo using a new Pax before a small group of patients. Everyone got an up-close experience...hands on.
I was impressed. I thought my Pax was OK, just a bit "quirky".. but this Pax functioned better than I could have hoped. I used it, delightedly, as did 4 patients in the room.. 4 complete sessions, without a hitch.
Good sessions too.
On mid power.
I told the patient later that was the recipient of that unit, that hers functioned better than even mine did! (I will write the story of that patient in the Paying it Forward thread)
I have a new admiration for the Pax unit.

That's great, @Vitolo. I'm happy you and the other patients enjoyed the sessions. Mid-temp allows for a powerful session yet still good flavor, in my experience.

Cheers to you!

As I am a first time poster I apologize ahead of time if I'm posting in the wrong section.

I got a PAX within the past week and it's my favorite thing in the world. I have not yet had to clean it so hopefully I still love it after having to clean it once or twice a week. Anyway, I've read multiple reviews/tips, etc and everyone is saying that the PAX should ALWAYS be stood up (mouthpiece up) at all times so the resin/oils etc stay near the oven rather than dripping down to the mouthpiece and sticking/causing mouthpiece issues.

Therefore, has anybody come across a PAX stand? I'm visualizing something very sturdy, that has an opening at the top to put the PAX in, and the top half or top quarter of the PAX sticks out the top of the stand so as to see the LED display of the PAX. Does anybody have something similar? Do people even bother getting a stand? The reason I see a stand being so useful is if the PAX is upright all the time to avoid mouthpiece sticking, at some point I am certainly going to knock it over, i.e. a stand that holds it upright would be PERFECT.

Thank you!

You would definitely want some one to build this for you, rather than buy it as it is advertised.
It is a Vapir One stand.. which in of itself is no issue, but the cost for what it is may be,http://vapenow.com/vaporizer-stand-for-vapir-one-all-versions-p-273/
It is made solid to hold the weight of a filling Vapir One and it's bag.
It had to allow for extreme airflow also, as there is a vent at bottom.
There are a myriad of not so expensive pipe rests out there, and one might fill the bill for you.

I do feel that metal one is sturdier, and less prone to accident.

Thank you Vitolo! I checked out some etsy stores, and also a vaporizer stand thread in this forum, though nothing seems to be made specifically for the PAX. I will try to find someone who can make me one specifically for the PAX (3d printer perhaps?). Thanks again!

You may be in luck..... Guess who just bought a used PAX1 vape to get me by until my Grasshopper vape ships!

Shoot me a PM @bustedBracket - I'll probably be able to bust out a few ideas pretty fast.

Now it's time to get caught up on this thread! I've only used a pax once before, lots to learn! Any other special requests for accessories I should know about? Obviously I'll be making one of my infamous SonG silicone adapters to convert the Pax to a waterpipe.

Thanks Ratchett! I'm actually the one that e-mailed you a few days ago asking about a stand. At the moment, someone else is working on a stand for me but if it falls through I will hit you up. Thanks again!

Hey @Ratchett, good man :) My Pax has had something of a revival of late & I may possibly be in for a SonG depending on what you come up with.

I am thinking that something which would allow us to maintain virtually upright use of the Pax would be most ideal - given the vape's tendencies to get all gunked up at the mouthpiece. But I'm guessing that exactly this has already been done by someone, somewhere in this thread . . . ?

Perhaps I should actually use the search function every now & then.

infamous SonG silicone adapters

Infamous? Like badass?! ;)

I hope you have an awesome weekend.

Looks like just an adapter.
Yeah sorry that's what I meant. Just wondering if the whole mouthpiece idea works better than something that only fits into the vapor path or if there's any preference at all. I'm totally new to using glass with vapes and such so just askin around for now..

Just got this from a member that was recommended via a different thread on this site. Couldn't be happier. The PAX fits perfectly, the LED sticks out of the stand so I can see when it's ready, its small, and the finish is fantastic. There's also a hole in the front right where one can put a paper clip.

I got a couple pax's and then a charger from somewhere else. It wont charge, I think 'cause it is only a 5v charger. So I now have the charger base. Does anybody know where to get a UK power supply for the base on the cheap? Or does anyone know the power rating dimensions of the plug I measured it as 3mm x 10mm but couldn't find anything the fit. What should I do?

Thanks.

My pax's charger says the output is 9Volts 1.3Amps, easy enough to find a replacement on ebay or in an electronics shop near you. Heck you can even cut off the ends and swap if you find one in your cupboard or something that doesnt have the same end but has the right power figures.

I thought it was 9v 2a I needed but that will work. The problem I am having is finding one with a jack the correct size. I just found out I was measuring it incorrectly. The only information I could find was a forum I think and it said 3.4mm x 1.3mm. I found one that is 3.5 x 1.35mm. Do you think that would work?

Cheers.
