OK, so here it is. I am going to try to get rid of my Pax. The reasons:

My situation has changed and I am buying a car. I think I'll buy another Solo and keep it charged in my car.

I am not that interested in walking outside at work anymore to medicate, because it's so cold.

Pax pros:

Cool looking
Big hits
Stealthy

Cons:

My meds gunk it up daily
Mouthpiece sticks, pops off
Smells in my pocket
Eats through meds really fast
Can't get it to sit right on the charger

So, yea, I really like the Pax, it's just not for me anymore. The other night the MP popped off in my car at night. I ended up finding it and when I put it back on, it popped off again and it took a long time to find. I get home and clean it, put it on the charger. It took a good 5 minutes to get it to sit right for a charge. Once charged, I put the MP back on and it sticks again. Frustrated and pissed. I don't like being frustrated or pissed!

I think the cold weather has something to do with the MP sticking (read that here). I'm a skier and I figure the Pax won't be a good choice on the slopes. I see myself on the side of a trail trying to get the thing to work, the MP popping off in the snow, etc. So MFLB will be back on the slopes, and the Pax can hopefully find a new home...

New way to attach a bong, or well I made a bubbler out of a fiji bottle. The "standard aquarium" tubing fits over the metal piece. The bubler that I had made wasn't impressive, I will be remaking it later this week. I just wanted a cheap alternative to glass, as I don't have the funds for it right now. I don't have pictures of the bubbler, I will post some when I get it remade.

Here are pictures. I choose this because I could reuse the mouthpiece. All I have to do it put the metal into the mouthpiece and I have another useable mouthpiece. I also liked this because it makes a clean connection.

Awesome idea dude. Was wondering where I could get this kind of tubing? Also, removing the stem from the mouthpiece... does it reattach or is it glued in? Only have one at the moment. And how do you connect the tubing to the bottle?

So the standard tubing was bought at walmart in the oet fish section. (I think it is 3/8" ID? I am not sure honestly) But I just took pliers and pulled the two apart. there is not glue, there is nothing but tension/friction holding these two together. I am not sure how this effects the durability of the MP, but I don't see any harm in it.

As for connecting it to the bottle, I just too a knife and cut a small hole into the bottle, and increased the OD of the hole until I was able to force the tubing in there. I tried to put a bubbling stone on the end of it, but the draw was too hard to be an effective bubbler so next time I am just going to perc the bottom of the pipe. One thing you cold do is after cutting the hole, you could glue around the edge. I also plan on creating a front pouch that the Pax can sit in allowing you just to hold the bottle. FYI i just bent the pins on the US plug (carefully, because they are designed to flick sidewards, making a possible break point) and it connects and charges perfectly. I initially tried with a converter from the warehouse but it did not connect properly.

I used prezoom for shipping, cost me $24 for it to be forwarded from the US.

My friend bought a piece from them, and it was nice. Thick glass, solid piece, worked great. The philosophy of the site is that good glass should be affordable. They have a good reputation also. Yes, the ship to US, also very reasonable.

Granted its only day one, but I intend to soak my mouthpiece after every use to avoid any sticky situations. Hoping it continues to work this well -crosses fingers-

randys taped pipe cleaners work great, i had buildup issues with softer pipe cleaners than these. ive been taking my mouthpiece apart asweell when vaporbonging it seems to work well

Well, I turn it to the side, and the attachment piece is long enough that the Pax is at the bottom. I need to find a good way to attach the pax to the bottle

I am sure you could make this one.. it would be easier to make it a gb.. just run a pipe to the top, have that connect to the Pax, then just put a hole in the bottom. It is a waterfall, but still a GB

Update from a recent Pax buyer:

So I have started experiencing this heat light problem everyone talks about, and I know it's not because of a lack of care. Although I have used it every day since I got it just over three weeks ago, I have been consistent in cleaning my Pax very well at least every other day.

It started just every once in a while, when I would open the mouthpiece, the temp light would come on and just stay on. For the first couple times, I was able to just flick the mouthpiece in and out quickly, and it would start heating. That stopped working after a couple times.

At first, I thought it might have something to do with it being cold because it would only do it on the first time I used it each day. Now, though, it is doing pretty much every time, regardless of whether it's the first, second, third use, whatever.

The good news is that the "removing the mouthpiece and blowing through it for a couple seconds" has worked every time. I have no idea why that works, but it indeed does seem to work. I still love this Pax and and am settling in nicely with my preferred methods of use, but I am starting to understand better why users call this device finicky. As long as the blowing technique continues to work, I still have no reason to complain.

On a different note, I have also discovered that technique really makes a big difference with this vape. Yesterday, I was getting huge hits while my friend, who has only used my Pax a time or two, was having a difficult time getting even a satisfactory hit. I gave him the cigar advice, and that helped, but his clouds still weren't near the clouds I was getting. That makes me wonder about people complaining about this thing not working well and whether it's their technique that is the problem. I CAN say I am still incredibly impressed with the kind of hits I can get on this thing, even on low, and I am still amazed at how consistent it is from oven to oven.

what i found to fix this problem was removing the spring by first tugging it out a bit with a pipe cleaner, then rotating the spring until it is completely out. then i scrub the entire spring area as deep as it goes with a pipe cleaner and isopropyl, then again with a dry pipe cleaner to dry it out, and then repeating this process with water. hopefully this can solve your problem.

I think the key is the metal tube the mouthpiece slides on. It's easy to get the MP completely clean, but if the outside of the tube (where the spring is) still has resin the metal won't make contact and your Pax doesn't know that you put the MP back in. I clean mine every 2-3 weeks and have no issues...

theres nothing to be concerned about when removing the spring if you do it like i stated in the post above. just an ordinary spring you twist in and out, and it solved your exact problem very easily.

I have been holding off on posting in this thread, until I've read every single post (I'm around page 120...) But, after reading this post, and having my first not so great session with the Pax, I had to post.

First, I'll say that I ordered my Pax (AJ12135) in Onyx last Friday, from the Ploom website, and received it on Tuesday of this week. From first sight, it was love I knew my Cloud had found it's portable soul mate! After having read the first ~120 pages of this thread, and skimmed beyond to the current posts (still reading every post from pg 120 on, just taking a while.) I was able to fire up the Pax after a good charge, and get some great results! I packed it up with ~0.4g of some Chocolope, and had a very nice tasty session with a friend. I was beyond medicated after this session, and even after reading this thread, I was still surprised at the punch this thing delivers!

I've had several sessions since then, all giving the same awesome results! I've packed as little as ~.15, just packing it down tight into the bottom of the oven, and got similar results to that of a full oven...I really love how in the morning when I wake up, I can turn it on and have tasty low temp vape by the time my eyes are opened! Also, it's such a relief to be able to leave the Cloud and glass at home, when I go away for the night, or a couple days.

Fast forward to last night after work. I had vaped maybe 6 oven loads since getting the vape, including one on my break about 2 hours prior. I decided to clean the mouthpiece out, as it had a visible resiny film when you looked down in the mouthpiece, and I saw a little piece of fuzz stuck in it I had already cleaned the mouthpiece once the day before, without any issues...I used ISO, and a pipe cleaner (both included) and went at the mouth piece. I got it nice and clean, rinsed it and let it dry, inhaling through it to speed up the process. Once it was totally dry, I packed the oven with .4 of M.O.B, and left for my boyfriends place. It's a 5 minute drive, and the pax was in my hand the whole time.

When I got there and got inside, I went to turn on the Pax and the mouthpiece was soooo sticky/stuck feeling. Before and after cleaning it, I pushed it in, and it was perfectly easy to remove/insert/turn on and off. But now, it was sticky and was rising so slow, that if you didn't pay attention, you couldn't see it coming up. I pulled it out, and the mouthpiece's metal tube was dry/not sticky, and the little ring that moves freely moved as free as ever.

I inserted the mouth piece, and it was really tough to get in, but it moved slowly (felt like what I would assume it would if gunked up, yet it never felt like this before I cleaned it, etc) It was tricky to get it to click in to close, but I got it easy enough. Once in, and off, I tried to turn it on. The mouth piece again was so stiff, that it rose very slowly. The LED indicator came on and went purple as usual, but once the mouth piece was almost fully extended, the LED went red, displaying temp, as if the MP wasn't installed. So, I went to push the MP back in, and saw the light go purple. I figured, maybe if I hold it here until it's warm, the MP will loosen up, and I can get it to recognize that it's installed.

Sure enough, the LED turned green after about a minute, while I kept it partially depressed. As I let the MP come up the rest of the way on it's own, it was much smoother, but the LED went back to red. So, I closed the MP, (very smooth/quick like before it started sticking) and opened it again, and it went purple to green, as it should. So, if I keep it warm; no issues...but now whenever it cools down, after sessions, the MP is stiff, and slow to come out, and won't heat up unless partially depressed...pretty much as described in Jonah Hex's post. When I read that post a few minutes ago, I chuckled, and was proud that I figured it out before I read it

So, after I post this, I'm going to give the Pax a full clean, and see if the MP re-inserts normally, with it's gun-slide smoothness/quickness...

A couple things to mention; I always take several puffs after turning off the Pax, to cool down the oven and remove excess vapor, and I only charge with the unit right side up (charger on top) when the unit is warmer than room temp. I believe these two things should help reduce the buildup in the MP and the tube that the MP goes into. I am just curious as to why my issue "popped up," as opposed to it starting to get stickier and stickier each time I turned it on before a sesh...kind of weird how the action stayed the same up until just after I cleaned the mouthpiece the second time.

So, I'll go ahead with the full clean, and be super careful of the temp button! I'm still loving this thing, it's really an amazing portable! I can see how it's not going to be the right vape for everyone, but what vape would be? For me, this thing fills a big niche, and is going to be around for a long time to come! Expect an actual review here at some point, and more posts in this thread from me....Sorry for the long one!

I was experiencing a stuck mp on my pax. Rubbed a little olive oil (orgainic extra virgin) on it and it hasn't stuck since. Works perfectly. Had to be seasoned like cookware.
