Oldest vaporizers

I bought my volcano in 09, and until I joined FC some years later the volcano was my only vape. But I know vapes were around before 2009.

I think it would be interesting to see and hear about the beginnings of vaporizers. Was the first vaporizer a light bulb vape?

Anyway it would be awesome to have an old vaporizer thread. Hopefully some of our OG's can contribute, stories, pics, whatever feel free to post about old vapes.
Hello fellow vapers!!! I am from South Africa, vaping for about a year and a bit. I luv the DIY aspect of vaping. Back to the discussion. My dad suffered from cronic asthma, and he told me that back in the day(60's 70's before carry around inhaliers), you could go to the Police station and they would keep a small amount of cannabis (we call it Dagga) at hand. He could always feel if he was heading towards a really bad asthma attack. If you had a doctor's letter they would give you some weed, wich u had to use infront of an officer. Taking either a metal lid or spoon with a small heap of cannabis on it, you would hold this over a candle and inhale closely over it. This would prevent him from getting a major attack. Thus in effect he was vaping really basic old school.

I used to dab directly off the ceramic heating element of my Vapor Brothers box vape as a rudimentary enail. You'd apply your dab and and put the whip/gong on as fast as possible, often vapor bonged it through a small beaker.

When Highly Educated introduced the first e-nail system some years later I loved the concept, but I believe it was around $800?

Have you checked the EOVA from OCD it is a discontinued vaporizer, which i think gave the another "original idea" to 7thfloor so they can come up with their oil kit,

With everything Wes talked about and for all the pictures of odd contraptions that were on his site how many working units actually made it out to the public? A few of us are still waiting for ours.

Don't know how many antique vaporizers are out there, but I will say, we've come a long way! And I can see how ideas were born, then expanded and improved. I can't wait for what's next, but it's really cool to see vape history as well.

if i may quote from @lazylathe 's link:

"In 1994 BC Vaporizer, Canada claims to have invented the first electrically charged vaporizer inspired on Bill Amato’s design. BC Vaporizer still is running in business today and are inventors of solar power charged vaporizers."

does anyone know sth about BC Vaporizer? :hmm:

Which brings me to another interesting question:

What is the oldest electric vape that is still built today?

My guess would be it's from germany, you'll probably know which one -
the Aromed of course :p :D since 1996 claims their page...

The first one who came up with the idea of the electronic cigarette is Joseph Robinson. He did it in 1927, in which he filed a patent to the USPTO for the first Mechanical Butane ignition Vaporizer. Robinson’s patent was approved and published by the USPTO. Little to his Credit that he deserves; He still owns the patents of the first Nicotine Vaporizer.

1990 to 1994, Amsterdam
Father of Cannabis Vaporizer Eagle Bill has a cannabis community cult following known to discover the popularizing of the Cannabis vaporizer. He termed his device “safe and effective alternative to smoking.” For over a decade, he was a favored exhibit at the Sensi Seed Bank’s ‘Hash Museum’ in Amsterdam.

The museum attracts visitors from around the world and Bill enjoyed sharing his new technologies to any willing inhalers. A resident of Amsterdam for 12 years, this was soon before the 1994 Cannabis Cup. Sensi Seeds gave Bill space and he blew away the crowd with his new technology.

It remained the most popular exhibit at the Cannabis Cup for 10 years, earning Bill and Sensi Seeds numerous first place cups. Soon he set up shop on a daily basis in the Hash Museum and used that platform to turn the world on to vaporization. Eagle Bill was introduced to vaporizing in 1993 by a Californian grower who used a heat gun to vaporize aromatic blends.

In an effort to design a more affordable means of vaporizing while simultaneously raising public awareness, Eagle Bill invented the “Shake and Vape” based on the very same Ancient Egyptian methods. Eagle Bill’s Glass pipe vaporizer that heated the bottom of a glass bowl with instead lighting the Cannabis itself.

Pioneered by a Native American, the Shake and Vape was nicknamed the “peace pipe of the future”. Eagle Bill’s invention would be the catalyst for rapid technological and product developments in the vaporizer industry and a big inspiration. Bill passed away on 22 may 2005, Georgia, USA.

In 1994 BC Vaporizer, Canada claims to have invented the first electrically charged vaporizer inspired on Bill Amato’s design. BC Vaporizer still is running in business today and are inventors of solar power charged vaporizers. It was Storz & Bickel Company in 2000 that invented the new era of Desktop vaporizers and named it “VOLCANO” just like its work around.

The history of vaporizers as controversial as it sounds still holds the timeline benchmark and technically makes Hookah the Oldest vaporizer.

Modern Day vaporizers credit no doubt goes to everyone involved in the process but will be still credited to late Bill Amato for his pioneering endeavor to the Cannabis world.

I had this Piggy Malone's catalog back in the '80s which had all sorts of carbs, bats, pipes, and bongs — lots of Star Wars-themed stuff. Then the Reagan administration crackdown put the kibosh on sales of paraphernalia. I remember stocking up on papers, thinking I might not be able to buy them anymore! Anyway, I believe there may have been a primitive vape in that catalog — I'll have to see if I still have it somewhere.

I bought my first vaporizer in 2002. It was a vaportech brand and I swear it was the best vaporizer I've had. The thing lasted almost 10 years though dozens of drops. It was a onny oven with convection/ conduction and a narrow glass whip.

Performance was way better than vapor brothers and those terrible bc globes.

It was the 1998 cannabis cup winner.

Modern Dabbery goes back to the titanium Skillet pioneered by HashMasterkuts sister. Of course people were hot knifing and vaporizing off of soldering irons since the 70s.

If you don't mind, can you describe the sound it makes? I imagine the old metal football game noise?
