Thanks to all who provided input.
I have finally pulled the trigger on an enail setup!
WOO-HOO!!
Auber RDK-200 controller:
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=45&products_id=459
$130 (controller + flat coil)
Happy Daddy Genesis Micro w/ Quartz insert:
http://www.happydaddyproducts.net/product/genesis-micro/
$145 (Genesis Micro Ti nail + 3 quartz inserts + Carb cap & handle)
The RDK-200 is cheap, has a good reputation, and I like the knob for temp control.
The Genesis Micro should mate well with my hourglass recycler, which is a 10mm rig and rather delicate.
The micro is lighter and should obviate the need for a dropdown, making the setup lighter yet.
Delicate piece in question:
Errlectric sounds like the cream of the crop, but the cheapest I could find that set-up with a quartz insert and carb cap was roughly $400.
Errlectric FQN running ~$500 with discount.
Sic + Sapphire sounds like it's the tastiest, but that runs $260 for just the nail (w/o a carb cap!).
Too expensive.
Plus any of those nails would be much heavier and require some kind of adapter / dropdown, adding even more weight.
I love the metal sheathing on the heating element on the Errlectric, but once again: more weight.
With the built in reclaim collector do you guys think I will be okay w/o a dropdown?
There shouldn't be much reclaim with the Genesis nail anyway; check out the slick design:

Or is this asking for trouble?
Pre-heat the nail before dropping it in the fitting or leave it in and then heat?
Pre-heating sounds safer as the metal nail would have already gone through thermal expansion.
Anyway, this place is great, and my credit cards hate you guys!
