Sorry for Double Post!

Is a slight air leak a non-issue with the dnail sic halo and slim male 18mm base? Its not air tight in my dropdown but it doesnt seem to affect the hit. Any solutions for this or is this normal with metal in glass situations?

Also, do I need the spacer thingy? I am using the large washer but the spacer seems superfluous.

Can I clean the coil with ISO? Seems to be giving off an aroma of burning metal but maybe it just has to bake out?

Thanks for your help all!

You said it doesn't affect the hit, thus it's a non-issue. You can wiggle it a bit for a better seal but you also want to be able to remove it after too. Reclaim buildup will also help seal it over time with use.

I don't use the spacer, my setup is base>heatsink>coil>washer>Halo>nut. I add the coil to the washer and screw on the washer so I can position it just right and it makes it easier to swap Halo's if need be. Also might help with heat transfer.

The smell should disappear with use at high heat, it's usually just the skin oils from handling burning off. Maybe machine oil if it's brand new. Just heat to 900F for awhile and all should be good. To keep you Halo clean ideally low temp dab at 500-650F, q-tip clean and heat clean at 800-900F after every dab. It's a pain but it will keep it looking and working like brand new for a long time. After awhile you get used to it.

You are right about the snells they have all but disappeared. When you describe your nail it seems like you are putting the washer between the coil and the dish. Is that correct? I will try that if so but I seem to be doing well woth the washer below the coil and the coil touching the dish. Thanks again for your help.

Some people heat their houses with electric heat so if there is any off-gassing we probably have been breathing house fulls of the stuff our whole lives already anyway.

Everything in your home is off-gassing poisonous unhealthy fumes. Well most everything. They are better known as V.O.C.'s aka Volatile organic compound's. I scrub my air indoors with top of the line air filtration units. And no for those wondering hepa is not the best. It's just a standard. There are far better filters out in the market over them. :)

Im allergic to my cat mostly but would love a good all around better air quality.
I've got one for you then that kills it! Look into the Alexapure Breeze. I've got two and they hands down beat the living piss out of my old touted as a top tier $2200 unit by light years. I've not read the whole thread nor your posts thus my mistake the last time. Hopefully I'm shooting a tight group this time around. Cheers!

I got a RabbitAir BioGS awhile back and it's been working well especially at collecting stray cat hair. I'm not allergic but it means less hair in dabs at the end of the day. It seems to offer a good balance of features for the price too.

Hopefully this is the right thread for my question, but I wanted to solicit this wonderfull FC community's advice on buying an E-rig before I pulled the trigger on one. I currently have the traditional torch, rig, nail setup for my concentrate use, and I am trying to ditch the torch and get something that I can dial in to an exact temp. I have considered mini nails, high five, and the like where there is a coil that wraps around the banger to heat it and it seemed like extra stuff in the way when there are E rigs available like the Dabado Thunderbox with its own recycler attachment... or CloudV's Electro. I am dead set on the portability aspect and simplicity of E-rigs like the Thunderbox and Electro, so If anyone here has purchased any of these E-rigs, would you recommend the Thunderbox over the Electro? Or any other E-rigs for that matter? How are they for daily driver rigs? Any complaints or things to watch out for? Really any input that could give me some insight to these products before I buy one would be appreciated. From the homework I have done so far, the Thunderbox would be my choice, but I would like to hear what you have to say if you have experience with E-rigs.

@TastyClouds
There's many versions of the electro, a portable hotel room-type nail that includes a carry case and a water-tube bubbler. The thunderbox is a modular battery pack, or mod box, that can work with a variety of atomizer/vape attachments for a more pocketable, or more powerful device that you can also add bubblers to. There's many types of mod boxes; most take 18650 batteries, and they range from raw power supplies to more sophisticated designs that incorporate os-type firmware with touch screens and bluetooth etc.

I wonder if the Dnail SiC halo dish would fit on my Mininail Universal hybrid nail? Right now I use the mininail with the Quartz dish and its working great. But I hear SiC is better.

I had this same questions a month ago but decided to find out since I couldn't find the answer and picked one up. I've been stalking FC for a little while and decided to make an account and share my thoughts and experience.

So as of now, I am using a SiC Halo dish on top of my Mininail Hybrid Quartz Nail. I obviously removed the quartz dish and replaced it with the SiC dish. The Mininail's center bolt holds the SiC dish in place with a little wiggle in it as the bolt is slightly smaller than the center hole.

You would need a buy the Dnail matching carb cap as well as the Mininail carb cap doesn't fit but does rest on top if you get it to align right.

But overall, the switch to SiC was huge and there is no going back to quartz dish or bangers. I dab basically hash rosin or live rosin and the Mininail is set to 525F Temp. With the SiC Halo, there is no puddling, less to no coughing with flavor and really easy to maintain in terms of cleanliness.

Now I am so interested in trying to Sapphire Halo but without a Dnail coil, I am not sure if I want to take the risk. I may try the Sapphire insert but i am not sure if it will fit on top of the Mininail bolt.

Just got myself a Dabinator enail. For the EU it is pretty reasonably priced since it is built in Germany. No fancy carrying case but a very nice compact unit with a 20mm heater. It came with a quartz bowl but I have just ordered a TI one from Dabinator. I love the quartz bowl but it does seem very vulnerable to damage.

I currently have it set to 315C (600F) and it is giving great results.

I would just pick up a slim line base on their sale going right now and not have to worry in the future, i definitely wouldn't attach my saph Halo to anything but a dnail nail, coils are gonna be about the same size so as long as its an actually flat, flat coil you should be good to go, even if you risked the mininail
