New Portable H Enail with built in glass bubbler by Green Light Vapes

So are you saying this thread is no longer relevant and I should go to the Divine Tribe thread for more info on the H E-nail? I've heard the H Nail and the Boost by Doctor Dabbler are the exact same and I think some Chineese companies are selling them as well.. This is very confusing.. Can anyone clarify the situation? I don't want a Chineese manufactured and assembled product built without attention to the safety of the materials or quality control from a reputable U.S. Company. Is there a materials spec sheet available? I looked and I cant find any information..

@Chill Dude I'm pretty sure the situation is that they're all produced in Chinese factories with different branding. I think I remember someone saying the dr dabber has a smaller battery capacity? So I guess they may not all be identical, but all Chinese as far as I'm aware.

I'd like to think the re branders would have done their homework on the materials before putting their name on it but that would probably be naive. Would be interesting to see a spec sheet for sure.

Everything you ask is in this thread, but I will summarize for you:

#1 - No, if you go to the divine tribe thread, you will find nothing related to the h-enail, i was simply referencing that some of these devices stick around this section well past release.

#2) Boost, Greenlight H-enail, Dabadoo, Dabbie, and others all came out on within days of each other. Greenlight had previously tried launching a 2200mah version earlier in the year, but it didnt take off. I have never tried one personally, but they looked a little different, with the top near the nail being what appears to just be a black plastic (just a guess). Anyways, Greenlight started promoting the V2, and within days, we saw all of the previously mentioned brands/products all appear. They all had the same initial flaws with the glass, and all now have slots/slits instead of the holes. You draw your own conclusions from here.

3) Don't think a spec sheet exists for any of the models/brands listed, and havent seen any claims of US manufacturing.

@Hoosier,, oh I see..thanks for all the background information.

@salivape I have a Dr Dabber Ghost Pen and like it quite a bit, but definitely looking for more of the dab experience. I like Dr Dabber's customer service so probably am leaning more toward the Boost. I will contact the Doctor to see if they are willing to provide material specs and manufacturing details.. I never buy a device from a company that won't divulge these things or worse yet, have no knowledge of weather the materials or safe or not..

I agree with you that Dr Dabbler and others probably did their homework and due diligence on material safety. Dr Dabbler is a quality company and has great customer service. I think I'll reach out to them for any detailed information on materials that they're willing to give..I might also post on the Dr Dabbler thread as maybe another FC member has already contacted them in this regard..I'll let you know what I find out.

These portable dab rigs look awesome and fill the gap between a basic pen and traditional E Nails which are usually too bulky and less user friendly than a simple device like The Boost..

Got mine today from seller daryo123 here and I'm pretty impressed. For $66 each, and the performance just from doing a normal dab, I'm pretty convinced. I need to try a couple of the methods that I've seen here like pre-loading/pre-carbing and dabbing on 1 or 2 heat cycles. Curious to see how this will hold up over time! Shipping was from DHL and was wicked fast. Ordered 1/17 and it arrived 1/21.

Thanks for the link! I'm gonna order one too

If I ever get to the point where my tolerance is super high, I'm gonna find a firm offering an all medical grade material version of this.

It's dope.

Interesting what R3DBAND had to say about the H-ENAIL offering from CLOUDV

Basically, he states that the CloudV folks went to a producer and weren't happy with what they were going to be able to offer based on their design / wants. That said producer then sold their concept design and hence all the variables of the H-ENAIL this thread is centered around.

Anyway, draw your own conclusions, I do like the larger nail, screw down ability of it... also the larger nail sizes and output (larger battery so it should) does seem upgraded compared to our '1.0s'

Personally, I don't like the straight down hitting / dabbing config... and for the much greater cost-- I don't think this newer 'version' would be worth it-- even if I had no H-ENAIL at all.

Cheers & happy dabbing!

Dr. Dabber recently got in new tops for their version of the H-Enail it has a ceramic base instead of plastic or whatever material the original was and the nail is screw on instead of a pressure fit because of the complaints of melting around the heating element/nail.

Picture time!

New ceramic base/screw on nail on left old plastic base pressure fit nail on the right.

Here is a close up of the new top with nail off.

Reason I emailed @Dr.Dabber my new top they sent me has incorrect threading and doesn't seat completely on the original bottom part.

I had the connection working sometimes but I have to get it tight and I am worried of getting it stuck on, so please @Dr.Dabber get back to my email about this issue!

@Fkn0wned, thanks for posting that  these devices have just become substantially more interesting!

Once they feature quartz/Sic/ceramic nails, and user settable temps it will be impossible not to buy one!

I'd also be forced to get some custom glass made :science:
Something like this (imagine the 'front' tube of the bong containing the down tube replaced with the H-enail/Dr dabber) which would allow much more water, and a more sophisticated perc.

Or perhaps a very simple glass adapter for the H-enail, with a downward pointing joint to allow the H-enail/Dr dabber to be attached to a conventional bong in a similar manner to an ash catcher?

Would love to see them make Quartz of sic nails for the h enail but I can't see it happening but maybe I'm wrong or have a negative outlook on it, ceramic is a different story as its being made, tested right now so il be grabbing a set as soon as I see them available. Even as it stands @Copacetic there well worth investment :)

I still love mine as it is also enjoying playing around with preloading or just dabbing while its warming thru, found this give the best of flavour once it's fully heated however it fills with plenty of vapours. Got the slitted mouthpiece now fitted and it changes the full nature of the beast got it pretty quick from dh gate.

I saw some ceramic nails on IG, they're working on it i think :)

I hope this doesn't qualify as a negative post towards a manufacturer, as from my understanding all these units are made by Chinese companies overseas and re-branded by a variety of companies when sold here. I felt that this sharing this information is important enough for the health of FC vaporists who might be unknowingly using these types of devices that the repercussions for sharing this information would be worth the FC penalties associated.

I was on Reddit yesterday, and came across a post from /u/tamag21 titled,
"I just cut apart a GreenlightVapes e-nail/Dabbie/Boost Pro. Results are less than great."

So, after realizing the top is made with Teflon, and that the nail can reach 800F+, I realized these things might not be as nice as I had hoped Aside from being possibly deadly, I decided to tear mine apart to see what makes it tick, and to see if I could repuporse it into a sort of herbal Iron, since it uses a ceramic rod for heating.Suffice to say, I'm less than happy. I found that quite a bit of PTFE degradation was going on, shown here.

woQbHAq.jpg

The Teflon appears to screw into the metal base, and there is for SURE glue holding this thing together, no amount of force could reverse the threads. I resorted to cutting

LAX6QqW.jpg

away at it, bit by bit, with a bi-metal work knife.
So what did I find? Mostly SOLDER

l3TNPDX.jpg

holding the ceramic rod

to the wires. This solder is DIRECTLY on the rod.
Don't get one of these guys. I got an unbranded version, was only $85, but it's not worth it. I'm chucking mine.
-----

I shared the photos on Facebook's Hash Church discussion group, and a few users chimed in to share:
Robert A. Phett: "There is a confirmed case in BC Canada of a homie going to hospital from hauling on one of these exact models either extensively all at once, or over time, and ending up with chest complaints that were found to be caused by teflon in his lung area. Please be careful with these Greenlight brand portable nail vapes, as that was the one related to the case I mentioned. I'm equally doubtful that the nail is grade 2 CP Ti, but who knows."

^ Thank you for reposting that.. I was suspecting PTFE fuming after others had mentioned the darkening around the ceramic heater. I've been back to using DT 2.5's exclusively since that day and reading about how the Greenlight aka one copied many times over on DH Gate is a clone of a design that got passed on by CloudV and then subsequently those plans were used to clone and make the rendition we're discussing.

I think the PTFE base as well as the nail configuration were among factors why CloudV passed (see the past RedBand video I posted awhile back..this is discussed).

Here's what I'm guessing CloudV was really wanting in terms of even the glass attachment, and everything really..

I've contacted "The Vape Life" regarding my unit purchased in december which is melting in the same way asking about ceramic tops and a refund.

EDIT: Got a quick reply indicating they also have some new parts coming.

Vapefiend has these newly in stock, Dabbie adapter kit for using the enail with any piece of glass you care to attach :). Looks pretty good but I love the fact it's portable and I'm not shackled in anyway while I'm using it so I'll personally pass on this one.

Best bring out those ceramic nails soon, my ti is well seasoned now but still I yearn for a ceramic top simply for taste alone.

I got this reply from @VapeFiend.com after asking about this issue, asked for permission before having this posted:

"I’m sorry to hear about your concerns, however I will be happy to put your fears at rest. Dabbie is safe to use, however there are some understandable concerns around heating teflon and its relatives to high temperatures. Mostly these fears originate in the catering industry, where teflon-coated pans are often heated to very high temperatures for long periods of time. Dabbie is different, for several reasons:

1. The nail and heat rod are not teflon coated. The upper section of Dabbie is made from a relative of teflon that is specially engineered for its high temperature resistance. Although this material is in proximity to the nail and heat rod, it never reaches the temperatures that the nail and heat rod reach. We have proved this in a range of tests.

2. Teflon does not begin to give off fumes unless it is heated to high temperatures (around 340 celcius) for 10 minutes or more. The material in Dabbie is never at high temperatures, as even the heat rod and nail are only heated to 304 c, and never for more than 30 seconds before they begin to cool down. Even a minute between heat-ups allows Dabbie to cool fully, but we recommend a five minute gap between heat-ups.

3. Nonetheless, in the interests of absolute safety, which is always our top priority at Vapefiend, we do not recommend heating the unit beyond the first heating. Customer feedback tells us that the majority of customers do not heat Dabbie beyond the first heat-up anyway.

4. We are also working on a “Dabbie Pro” model, which will replace the Teflon material with ceramic, and will also include a ceramic nail. These are due to go into production in the next two weeks."

I'm no expert but seems like a good answer to me.

I find it interesting that the W9 people appear to be the one's driving the safety concerns and "spreading the good word" --- One would think that these portable enails have been hurting their herc business.

That said, I do appreciate that w9 is there to keep everyone on their toes and push for a health conscious vaping community.
