The LSV was one of the 1st "desktop"ish vapes I lusted after when I first started learning about vaping a year and a half ago. (And the Nano. There's like a billion old LSV vs Nano threads here & elsewhere )

Anyways, reading up on it, I came across a lot of people saying they preferred to use it through water & some finding it a bit harsh & warm using it dry. Then I watch a couple LSV videos by @Vitolo & not only is he using natively dry, but he shortened the vapor path even more w/ a male to female adapter! :rofl:Love it!

I definitely want to add this vape to the line up at some point, but interested more in using it dry than through aqua.

Hey all!

I recently acquired a used LSV. It was working great and I'm really happy about the vape and performance. Coming from bong combustion, this vape hit all the right spots for me!

However, yesterday morning, I was repacking a bowl when I heard a weird noise coming from the vape which was just lying on its side. I didn't think anything of it and vaped my last bowl then put everything away. When I got to my evening session last night, I noticed there's now some small cracks in the ceramic rod. (I think the crackling I heard was maybe the ceramic cracking?...) I did a shorter session than usual to avoid further damaging the vape.

I can take pictures when I get home tonight but it's been eating at me all day... Has anyone had anything like that happen before? Would you guys think it's still safe to use? Should I get in touch with 7th floor CS?

I don't have a back up vape yet as I literally got this 2 weeks ago (the vape itself was purchased December 7th and was barely used from what the guy said and I didn't see any cracks when I first received it and I used it for a good 10 days without issue).

Since I don't have a back up, I'm hesitant to send it back - I don't want to go back to combustion when I finally found a device that works for me. I didn't notice anything wrong with the performance from my session last night but cracks in the ceramic heating rod can't be good right?

Thanks for any help/feedback!

I want one again.

The first one I got was too strong at the time?
I'm ready for it today.

It kicked my SHINY METAL ASS!

LSV if you can handle the POWER?

If it was shipped when it was extremely cold that could've affected the ceramic heater.
I would carefully inspect the entire heater cover for cracks.
As for hot to cold, I agree with @lazylathe on both counts.
7th Floor LLC can help, and will make it like new for a reasonable cost.....
and I avoid extreme cold to high heat, and also avoid turning the power completely off in a very cold environment.
In either direction, if it is extremely cold, I like a gradual heat up (a bit at a time) and I like to shut it down the same way.

I had what appeared to be a flaw in my LSV heater rod when I first acquired it but the noise is not something I encounter. For my part, I ignored the flaw and after awhile forgot about it. In reference to the noise however I have no comment because I have no specific experience. Good Luck

Thanks for the responses everyone! I only use it indoor so if it was exposed to the cold it was during shipping. I'll get in contact with 7th floor to see what they can do for me.

May I ask what you mean by flaw? Was it also a crack?

Mine is pretty clearly cracked (it is most obvious when the heat is on and you can clearly see the crack through orange). Think I won't be able to ignore this one :(

For those who are wondering, I ended up reading this thread and decided to use the vaporizer anyway. This eased most* of my concerns about safety. I risk breaking the rod even more but since the warranty is already void, I am not too worried. If I get it fixed now or in 6 months, it'll be the same since it's already cracked.

I'm not in the USA so the cost of shipping alone would probably bring me close to 100$ CAD (one way shipping was 35$ USD and our dollar is weak). I just don't have the money for that atm and it seems like the risks are not higher than being a human in our contemporary polluted environment.

I've used it for a few sessions since and have had no other noticeable problems. On advice people here though, I'll be more careful about gradually changing the temperatures of the device (gradual heat up and cool down).

Thanks for the help and advice!

The heater rod is user replaceable with a few simple tools and skills so not to worry. This video will give you a look at the process of replacing the dimmer switch on a DA Buddha, but all the steps needed to replace the LSVs heater are there too.
The heater rod I believe is available from 7th Floor. There there is also the option of just finding a small appliance guy to fix it for you too, should take him less than a half hour if you bring them the parts.

@howie105 Thank you very much for the video! I hadn't seen this and I was wondering how easy it would be the replace the rod myself if it breaks apart. The insides are ridiculously simple.

I don't see the heater rod on the 7th Floor website but I might give them a call to see if they can ship me one. I also found similar looking ceramic heater rods (designed for soldering irons) which could be a good fit for a DIY fix if my current rod ends up cracking more/breaking.

In that other thread a few people mentioned cracks on their ceramic heating elements and someone said it was because of the wear and tear from constant heating up/cooling down. I'm hoping if I'm careful and go with more gradual changes I'll be able to keep this rod for a while.

Cheers!

I just watched the video you posted!

7th FLOOR has really good Customer Service.

I have a Silver Surfer and love it!

Does anyone know of a good curved or bent glass wand (like a lsv transfer wand) to use with the dabuddha for a direct draw all glass air path? Does the honeycomb transfer wand for the lsv bend very much? Im currently using the DBV wand with the WPA connected with a tiny piece of tube.

This is exactly what I came here looking for. Did you ever find one?

What I'd really like is a stock length tube, but with 4 or even 8 small holes spaced evenly around the circumference instead of the one large hole.

This would give more even heating and restrict the draw very slightly, which would be no bad thing IMO.

I see that 7th Floor now offer a new (shorter) heater covers for the LSV.

http://7thfloorvapes.com/index.php/...orizer-parts/life-saber/lsv-heater-cover.html

I learned after speaking with 7th Floor, that the new shorter heater cover is designed to work with the new shorter ventilation section. http://7thfloorvapes.com/index.php/...life-saber-vaporizer-ventilation-section.html I was told that the new ventilation section has 3 large holes instead of 4 like the original style.
