Conduction, convection, radiation. It's all simply a method of heat transfer.

So many people claim convection vaporizers are "better", but why? Is it taste? Doubtful because I have vapes which use primarily conduction and provide just as pure of a taste as the LSV's pure convection heater. Is it vapor density? What about the Vapman - that's a pretty potent vaporizer and it uses conduction

The more vaporizers I use, the less I care about the method used to transfer heat. These days I care more about how the vape performs as a whole unit over the course of an average session for me

the top layer is definitely conduction as you said, with the rest being convection.
I wont be gluing it to your vape don't worry

I've been reading this thread and doing some research. This looks like a powerful little device I can't wait to try it out. I already have a DBV and love it. I simply don't care for the rubber hose cleaning/drying/replacing process anymore. I love the taste of the Arizer solo I hear this is even a smidge cleaner than that. Can't wait to try it out.

The most noticeable difference with the Solo is the LSV's unrestricted airflow. 7th floor sells "blemished" LSVs for $140.

Yeah you'll love the LSV if you're trying to get away from the hose.

As @hoptimum mentioned, you can buy blemished units direct from 7th floor - lots of good feedback on the blemished units.

Or you could do like I did and contact @stickstones - he'll hook you up

I also got mine from @stickstones. You also might just want to try a LSV heat cover on the DBV. I know I have seen posts of the LSV being used with the DBV heater cover

While a lil' unwieldy, this is basically what I did before buying the LSV, except on my SSV. Never a bad thing to have a HC backup anyway.

As already stated, from 7th Floor they are $140 refurbished. I have only seen the LSV as low as $120, and that was only once.

You won't regret it though. If you like the DBV, your going to love the LSV.

Has anyone else tried the SSV ground glass wand with the LSV? It's a bit easier to work with than the transfer wand and the flavor is remarkable, IMO

I was going to but when I grabbed my SSV HC from the shelf there was a big crack down the GG part. It had spread from a lil chip that was there when I got it.

I would love to try a male SGG HC, just like the SSV version but opposite gender. Use it with the LSV WPA.

I went for a light stand which I later added the sprung microphone holder.

Due to my daily driver being in for a service, I have dusted off my LSV.
Reading back through the last couple of pages I see stands are still a topic, I am still running this combo.
It can be used as is in a raised position or horizontal if whipping is your thing.

Hahaha, that's awesome hadn't seen that picture before. What's even more funny, I actually think I have the EXACT same arm from an old illuminated magnifying glass I got from my grandpop

Love your setup. But my vape space is too small for that config. Does anyone have a link to a microphone holder that can keep it vertical when heating up? Thanks

Edit: Here is my LSV stand, been using it for as long as i have lived here.

Works pretty well, keep the unit on max and it never gets more than warm .

Been using the Ceramic disk i ground down, i am still confounded for why it seems to improve efficiency massively, the flavour makes my bowl last much longer yet the hits are just as thick if not more so.
I have been hitting it today slow, as the ceramic acts as a buffer and stops the hotspot and resulting combustion from being an issue. I ground down the disk to be thicker in the centre than in the periphery to even out the heat transfer to the bud (the vertical heater causes the centre hotpot, especially with a fast draw). But as you can see it toasts the top half more than the lower half but evenly so - when i hit it faster it is much more even throughout the whole bowl. But i have been going slow so that i get thick milk that i can suck up without having to use my full lung capacity as i have an irritated throat and tend to cough when taking in larger volumes.
Also stuck the screen on-top rather than below the dimples so i can use a smaller load.


Things get cloudy real fast and i can clear this with ease even with my sore throat due to the disk allowing a much slower draw.


I am pretty enamoured with the little disk at the moment, as simple as it is i suggest others give it a shot if you have any spares lying around.
If only i had some concentrate to top that off with .

I just knocked the screen out of the solo stem with the LSV poker and placed it on top of the herb.

My vortex deal does about the same thing with similar effects. Crank up the heat, no combustion, 6-7 hits compared to 3-4. I thought they were slightly less dense (mainly from the math) but still plenty thick. Dark brown abv with no blackness, no stirring required and my herb is flying in a freaking vapor tornado!

I am hoping that a few simple parts can allow this for of effects without needing something touching the bud.
I am going to try test some wands with ceramic heat diffusers in the glass, this way you dont' have to fiddle with something in your bowl.
This will remove some of the conductive extraction (which i like, though others don't).

Glad to see i wasnt just tripping' haha.

The flavour disks are on our site, might be worth picking up a few with any future orders and filling them down a little as i did.
Alternatively - i have some i can send to Uk residents

Also, i wonder if porous ceramic such as this would make a nice bowl material or liner for a portable. I am sure you could work this into a portable vaporizer to improve the vapour quality, but require less heat by tailoring it for the configuration designed.

Just a quick question to the LSV experts

I am going to be using through water, probably in the FC187v2. What is the general concensus on recognised temp setting on the dial. Is about 1 -2 oclock or higher?

Ive already started experimenting with screen placement in some glassware even though it isnt here yet

With that M2M, i'd start at just under 12 and see how my first hit felt.
If you have any issues, just post or PM me. I am located on your island, so can offer official repairs and such much quicker.

I also highly recommend the WPA, i had two spares but i gave them to another member. Ill get some extra sent in soon.

That is a tricky one to answer. In my experience, it depends on 2 things:

1. How fast you draw
2. How far the ceramic heating element is sticking out from the base.

You will quickly get a feel for what draw speed and temp works best on your particular unit.

Also, the temp needs to be set higher when using the WPA, as the herb is then physically further away from the heating element.

I use around 12 o clock for the wand and 2 o clock for the WPA and take fairly long, slow hits. This is perhaps a good place to start.
