Almost there...
After receiving the beautiful LSV package, I am getting some of the problems that I face with all convection vaporizers. The dark concentrated spots and uneven avb. What am I doing wrong? Same thing with my nano. I know its a 100% user error.
SoI tried pulling out the ceramic a little further, and got some clouds. But its extremely dark on one side and completely green on the other. I stir too. There is no way I can pull the ceramic to the hyphen mark. I also need to use 2-3 oclock on the dial. I hope I can learn what I am doing wrong. Maybe I should just buy the WPA.
Do you guys rest the lsv on the m2m or hold it there? What type of draw? I am using SCS 3 piece and filling the bottom halfof bowl. Maybe I should try lwien's method of arizer basket.
Starting technique:
Turn on LSV and leave dial at Noon for a minimum of TWO minutes to preheat.
The SCSI grinder is great and I use one too, try to get the grind a bit finer and not too fluffy.
Load the ELB with about 5mm of materiL, very loose do not tamp yet.
I usually move the herb around a bit to get an even layer, no tamping though.
After the preheat is done, place LSV lightly but completely onto the M2M. You want to be able to easily remove the LSV after a hit. The other reason I do this is that it allows me to take an even, consistent inhale and I can adjust the heat source by moving the LSV on the M2M, a sliding motion if you like.
Also do not try and take a huge, lung busting rip right off the bat!!
Regular hits and then look into the ELB to see what is going on.
Hot spots- either draw slightly faster or move heat source away from herb during hit.
Uneven spots- too slow a draw for an extended period, LSV too hot or load tamped down and restricting airflow.
Also ensure your layer of cotton/hemp fibre is not restricting the airflow.
What you are looking for is:
A nice, easy draw that yields good vapor without burning!
Start at NOON, too hot still then turn it down to 11:30 and let it cool for a minute and try again.
When you have your technique down you will be able to produce the most amazing flavours and awesome clouds!!!
Also try tiny loads, you will be amazed!!
I have pushed my ceramic heater into the LSV a bit more and am finding it to be slightly tamer now and easier to handle!
