Almost there...
After receiving the beautiful LSV package, I am getting some of the problems that I face with all convection vaporizers. The dark concentrated spots and uneven avb. What am I doing wrong? Same thing with my nano. I know its a 100% user error.

SoI tried pulling out the ceramic a little further, and got some clouds. But its extremely dark on one side and completely green on the other. I stir too. There is no way I can pull the ceramic to the hyphen mark. I also need to use 2-3 oclock on the dial. I hope I can learn what I am doing wrong. Maybe I should just buy the WPA.

Do you guys rest the lsv on the m2m or hold it there? What type of draw? I am using SCS 3 piece and filling the bottom halfof bowl. Maybe I should try lwien's method of arizer basket.

Starting technique:
Turn on LSV and leave dial at Noon for a minimum of TWO minutes to preheat.
The SCSI grinder is great and I use one too, try to get the grind a bit finer and not too fluffy.
Load the ELB with about 5mm of materiL, very loose do not tamp yet.
I usually move the herb around a bit to get an even layer, no tamping though.
After the preheat is done, place LSV lightly but completely onto the M2M. You want to be able to easily remove the LSV after a hit. The other reason I do this is that it allows me to take an even, consistent inhale and I can adjust the heat source by moving the LSV on the M2M, a sliding motion if you like.

Also do not try and take a huge, lung busting rip right off the bat!!
Regular hits and then look into the ELB to see what is going on.
Hot spots- either draw slightly faster or move heat source away from herb during hit.
Uneven spots- too slow a draw for an extended period, LSV too hot or load tamped down and restricting airflow.
Also ensure your layer of cotton/hemp fibre is not restricting the airflow.

What you are looking for is:
A nice, easy draw that yields good vapor without burning!
Start at NOON, too hot still then turn it down to 11:30 and let it cool for a minute and try again.

When you have your technique down you will be able to produce the most amazing flavours and awesome clouds!!!
Also try tiny loads, you will be amazed!!

I have pushed my ceramic heater into the LSV a bit more and am finding it to be slightly tamer now and easier to handle!

The primary reason to run your vapor through water is not to cool it but rather to moisturize it. A little diffusion is good but in my opinion, you really want a LOT less than you would want when smoking.

Woah! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Completely different experience - I didn't use the ash catcher last night and it made all the difference. This is the theory I came up with while heavily medicated (thanks again!) last night:

The ash catcher is a small showerhead perc. To draw through the ash catcher and the honeycomb perc in the bong, I had to draw pretty hard. This meant that the air flow through through the WPA was faster and meant I needed to use a much higher temp (2-3 on the dial). Last night I was able to draw significantly more slowly and able to use a much lower temp (11-12). It was a completely different beast and taste was great. The ground bud in the WPA also stayed greener longer. All around amazing!

I've now owned my LSV for 2 months (but took February off completely :\) and it keeps surprising me - I can't wait for my ELBs and M2M adapter to arrive!

Edited to add the bit about staying greener.

IMO for me anyways, the primary reason to use water is cooling, in addition to moisturizing and particulate filtration. I've tried the warm water, and didn't really enjoy the experience so went back to room temp water. It's the heat of dry vaping that kills my lungs, mixed in with particulate, adding to irritation.

The ELB and 18mm double male is a game changer IMO! Last night I had my first real shatter sessions with some ChemoXAmbrosia shatter that absolutely destroyed any tolerance I thought I had! Was getting very tasty rips at about noon on the dial, and 2-3:00 completely whitewalled and made it feel like the first time vaping again! I simply popped an empty ELB in the M2M and just placed a tiny piece of the shatter in a whisp of cotton and I was good to go!

STILL my favourite vape of ALL TIME!!!

IF the RUMOURS are true of 7th floor developing a portable that is based on the LSV design, I will be one happy vaporist!

Got my LSV. Im still experimenting with D020+18 m2m ELB and temp. Got some huge clouds, but couldn't help trying other things right away. Hooked up some tubing to the end of the 18 M2M where the water pipe end would go, and put the other end of the tubing to a 14mm to 18mm flush adapter inside a sherlock j-hook on the other end. Wow, very cool vapor. I will evetually get a chillum to fit on this end. Then, I took the flush adapter thats inside the j-hook out with the tubing still attached and put it in my D020. Huge clouds. Pretty easy to clear, just pull the whip with 18 M2M attatched out of the LSV. Only been a few hours..... but I've owned a DBV for two years so I thought I was qualified to post.

Will conduct further analysis share thoughts.

No cotton in ELB, and you can experiment with a teeny tiny amount and maybe up your temp, or feel free to load it up (but watch your temp!). I feel that cotton is a must-have part of this setup but it sits on screen right under the ELB. It doesn't take long until it's a sticky gooey ball of heaven!

LSV continues to impress, and i'm seriously thinking I might need a backup!

WHy, bio? For me, it would seem that it would act like a filter of sorts and filter out some of the goodness that you would get if you didn't use it. My glass stays perfectly clean without out it. Is the ELB's screen not as fine as the Q basket and therefore might require it?

Back for a quick interlude:

The LSV has been great so far. This thing's vapor is smooth. Huge clouds with no coughing. I'm taking my material very far. Even when it looks like its done, I crank the heat just a little, take a rip and release a huge cloud. At that point I'm thinking I had to have combusted, but I check and no combustion. Very nice. Im medicated on just a pinch. I will probably not touch my DBV for a while as the options with the LSV are endless.

I decided to "force" myself to stop using the herbie (ISO the bowl overnight) and play with my lsv. I think I got it dialed in, using 12:30-2, for my temp range. Stickstones told me to let it sit heated for ten minutes and now no more dark spots. I think I was hitting it too early. Two great sessions in a row, with nice consistent dark Abv. Get about 4-5 10+second draws while stirring, using about 1/3 of the elb. A great plug in at a great price.

The ELB mesh is about the same or maybe even finer than the q basket. Although you make a valid point regarding filtering of goodies, I think it saves more than it wastes (to water and glass condensation). I suppose you could reclaim, but I never do and the entire point of the cotton or hemp fiber is convenience/simplicity and keeping things clean. I think your glass stays perfectly clean due to you using in a year, what I use in a day :o Or maybe your warm water reduces condensation? Either way, both @lazylathe and I both notice that ever since we bought our LSV's, we are getting very interesting looking brown vapour boogers in our glass. OMG is it ever a bitch to clean!!!

I decided to "force" myself to stop using the herbie (ISO the bowl overnight) and play with my lsv.

That's interesting, I keep learning new things here, but one of the biggest things i've learned is that everyone's experiences with vapes is different. I actually had to "force" myself to use the Herbie i'm borrowing from @lazylathe since i've just been having a blast with the LSV (and Crafty). The LSV is so much better suited for my needs, specifically since I pretty much exclusively vape-bong. This means that the Herbie is best used with a hydratube and adapter for my needs, so I need some head-to-head comparisons last night. I found way better roasting of abv with the LSV at approx noon, compared to the Herbie at Max temp. I may have been able to cram some more material in the Herbie, but I didn't have much loaded in the LSV (1/3rd ELB). The Herbie ABV had green flecks, and although pretty well extracted, just made me feel like I was wasting material. Great clouds out of the Herbie forsure, and a great vape overall indeed, but for the value, and if you vape bong exclusively like me (I find bags dry, and dislike whips), the LSV is IMO not possible to top. I ended up throwing the Herbie bowl in ISO, and finished the night off with high temp shatter convection dabs! Fucking tops! Already got a price match for my backup herbie, $179cdn cannot be beat I don't think!

Thanks to @lazylathe for the tips on higher temp vaping. For some reason I was afraid to go past noon on the dial, probably due to fear of poor taste and uneven charred burning. I used about 1/4" material, medium grind, 2:00 on the dial, and a medium to fast pull while keeping my eye on the glass for density/milk. OMG! I achieved full milkage and received a very concentrated potently tasting hit that was like a punch to my head!

One day i'll have 2 LSV's and a Claisen adapter.......then it will be DOUBLE LSV power at once. It may raise the bar to a completely different level for me! lol

Have you had better luck with the EQ elbow or have switched to ELB exclusively?

I agree, IMO this is probably the most underrated vape out there!

Last night I upped the temp to 2:00, and filled an ELB fairly loose with a medium grind. I was able to hear that "snap crackle pop" that kind of sounds like a crackling fire when the material was vaping! Massive dense cloud that simply couldn't taste any better, with the ABV still being completely green!

It's such a mind-fuck when you get vapor so thick you're scared you might've combusted, then look in the bowl and see green to light brown :whoa:

I guess I really should try it out with oils again, but I quite like my dabs and the LSV is so great with herb and more solid concentrates (bubble), I never even really consider it for oils...

Well, I was using the EQ screen a lot the first day as I felt it was easier to get clouds. Now, I really like the ELB. I wasn't drawing right/adjusting the heat correctly with the ELB the first day, which is why I moved on to the EQ screen.
Yesterday I gave it another go using the ELB and it was giving me great results.

With the EQ screen you need to turn down the heat since its closer to the heat source. About 11:00-1:45 is the range when I use the EQ screen. Clouds pretty quickly.

With the ELB I use about 12:00-2:00. Its takes slighlty more time to get clouds(if thats what youre going for) but when It gets going, it really goes!

For me its water tool diffusion dependant.
More difussion=ELB
Less diffusion=EQ screen

If you use the EQ on a peice that has lots of diffusion, the milk and clouds come quickly, too quickly! At least thats what I found.

They work both ways interchangeably but you have to adjust draw speed and heat accordingly.

Are we sacrificing some of the good stuff (denser clouds, taste) now when using hemp fiber or cotton when placed in the m2m? Or would that stuff have been accumulating on the sides of the m2m?m My hits seemed weaker when using hemp fiber, but know soon I will have a "tasty treat." It's nice and sticky after two sessions.

Edit. I am learning to use my lsv and getting better results everyday. Biohacker, I agree with you that the Abv on the lsv is much darker and looks more spent than the herbie. Maybe I should keep a separate Abv jar for the herbie and use that Abv with the lsv when I'm out of flowers. I bet I can get a few hits. Like lwien, I am using it with the d020-d, but it is too much diffusion for me and I can't milk it.

I think there is a certain amount of variation in the process (amount of cotton, how fluffy, temps, draw speed, etc) that result in different results for folks. I know I am still cutting back on the amount of cotton I am using and my glass is still staying clean and the hits are getting better.

Almost there...
All this talk of losing our precious goodies to cotton/hemp fibre or water got me thinking....
And of course I asked @biohacker if he was experiencing the same effects I was and he mentioned he was noticing the same thing!

Since the LSV is my daily driver and I have not bought any new MMJ for a long time I was trying to figure out one issue.
The issue is this:
Even with my single or dual cotton filters I was getting seriously medicated after every session! My load size is very small compared to what I load in my other vapes, roughly 3mm of medium ground material in an ELB and it is not tamped down at all.

Cloud production is amazing as well as flavor throughout the entire session!!

Dial position is just before Noon and I do not move it anymore to finish off a load.
ABV can be as light or dark as I want it to be. If I want a long session I do not tamp at all, only stir the load a few times. For dark ABV a tougher stir to b weak it down and a light tamp is all it takes!

Does anyone know why I would be feeling these types of effects off the same product as the previous month?? Not that I am complaining, just curious!

@mixchu69 i cannot milk my D020 either, the volume is too small. I get great results using the FC-187!!!

How do you guys hold the lsv while drawing? I rotate my m2m every 4-5 seconds during my draw and I hold my lsv flush to the m2m, but do not let it sit on my m2m with all its weight. I rotate to avoid dark spots.

Does this seem to be the way most people use it? Or do people just leave it on one spot and get even Abv?

Have people tried the wpa? I'm thinking of grabbing a 14mm to hook up to my Fbomb.

I don't rotate, but I stir every hit or two. I have no issues with the M2M supporting the weight of the LSV.

I haven't tried the WPA, but i'm curious how it is in comparison to the M2M!

I don't rotate or stir through the entire bowl. No black spots. Just even ABV throughout.

Regarding the WPA, I like the M2M much better. With the WPA, even with rotation and stirring, I still got black spots.

Yeah I just plop mine on top using the male/male adapter to keep it steady. Those things are pretty strong and I feel it's secure enough to hold, even while moving around. If it does happen to break I feel the LSV is durable enough to take a fall anyway (not that I want to test it).

I have been using my LSV in all types of configurations with different types of glass including vape tamers and ice chambers. Depending on how I am using it decides what whips and accessories I use but the male/male adapter and the ELB is pretty constant regardless of the rest of the setup.

Love this vape! In fact I bought a Black one thinking I would sell off my Silver one at some point but I think I'm going to keep it.

And for @biohacker I do have two LSV's now and I also have a Claisen adapter so stay tuned for some pics/video! I just need to mentally and physically prepare myself for that session!

Like you guys said, this is like driving a fine tuned car. I tried lwien's method with Arizer screens and got denser clouds than any elb, but it is very messy. When stirring, it falls all over. But I got close to milking the d020-d (I know most ppl don't care, but it is fun to watch). I did this at 12 on the dial.

Bumped it up to 2 and waited a few minutes. This time, I used elb and no more rotating. Got bigger clouds. I pushed it close to combustion but laid off and got terrific results. I am learning to use this thing and liking it a lot.

Yeah, it is messy when sticking the stirrer in there but I've found that the only time I need to do that is when the ABV is totally spent and I need to clean it out.
