Got notice that my LSV has shipped. Puhretty excited.

Took me ages to decide on a new vape. Even made a thread here. For some reason I asked for advice on a direct draw desktop unit, but for me - only vape I have owned is a PD and I realized I hit it exclusively through a bong. Can't remember the time I took a direct draw from it.

The price point on the LSV is fair enough that I can still think about getting a bag vape (or combo) down the road. (herbalizer looking in your direction)

I think the LSV addresses all of my "issues" with the PD (that i still love and cherish). It heats up faster, has temp control and I don't have to deal with the tubes. I hated the size and how quick the PD stems got dirty/sticky/pain in the ass to change herb. I always wished I could just use the PD like a lighter to my bongs own bowl. With the WPA, the LSV should work pretty much like that.

7th floor also seems to get great reviews for their customer service.

My only regret is I should have ordered from a Canadian vendor instead of directly from the company, could have avoided any potential customs delays. Noob move.

Since I have things under better control today I will break out the LSV.
To give a honest review I'm not qualified actually however let me say this:

It scares the ^%&*# out of me!
I did order a glass piece for it.
Having one vaporizer is hard for me because I like to mix it up.

The LSV with a TOP SHELF INDICA will "COUCH LOCK" you!
In a couple of minutes I will have a load with a SATIVA 70% INDICA 30% HYBRID.

I have water rigs however I ordered one that would pair well.

I plan to vaporize with the LSV through my new water piece.

I must be a light weight because the LSV Kicks my A@@!
For $200 for a analog verses a digital for $750?
Pretty Cheap for how powerful this beast is!

Awesome to know!
@ted I had trouble with my screen on my wand so I switch to a water setup.

The LSV takes my breath away.
Now remember I'm a newbie and most of my vaporizer are flavor producers.

I find that when I pay attention I achieve extreme NIRVANA with the LSV!

Careful with the LSV!

You have been warn!

I'm on the Bias side!

The other vaporizer are awesome however for water path the LSV will kick your A@@!

The long glass wand that comes with the LSV is really nice.
I love this thing!
With water the LSV is all time!

I really like the LSV with the water pipe attachment. However it is not completely necessary depending on the joint situation you can use 18mm male to whatever other joint you need. Just be careful when you go to separate the joints. It is also really easy to pair with the PNWT and other hydratubes.

Hi there. I am experiencing some problems gaining the required heat from the LSV. Dialing at max gives just a light browning of the herb.

At first, I thought it might have something to do with the heater cover has a bit of a strange shape. See pictures: http://imgur.com/j4ONiFS http://imgur.com/a/oH9p7

Then after contacting 7th Floor, I learned that there might be a problem with the dimmer switch. The LED on my lsv is not responding how it should be, according to support. Could someone let me know how the light should behave?

Also looking for any advice on DIY fixes for these issues. Sending the unit to the states for nearly 70% of what I paid for it is not really a good option.

The end of your heater cover is definitely a bit misshapen but that shouldn't have much effect on the element. The LED on your LSV should switch on as soon as you turn on the dial. Are you using a WPA or the wand? If so what size WPA and how much are you filling it? I only need to turn it to about 12 for a few minutes to get decent vapor, I'd likely combust if I turned it up to max. If you're using the wand then perhaps your draw speed could be the culprit, but it''s more likely something internal if your LED isn't working properly. Does your element glow even when you turn it on the lowest setting? Leave it on for ~5min to test.

Definitely sucks that 7th floor are making people pay for the return shipping on repairs, especially new customers with new LSV's. You'd think they would do some proper QA over there but it doesn't seem like it with so many of the new unit's having problems.

The light turns on once I turn on the unit. And will stay on until I turn off the device. Is that the correct action?

The heater element is glowing, even at low settings. On maximum setting, the top half of the element is glowing orange/red. Tried using it both with glass and wand. There is vapor, but not anywhere near combustion at max setting. Regardless of how slow I'm pulling.

Sounds to me like your heating element can be pulled out a little bit further. If you look back a few pages in the thread it is discussed multiple times. Many members here have done it to their own LSV's. Hope that is your culprit as it appears to be an easy fix!

Yes, that's correct.

If you're using it at max setting and not getting much vapor, it could be that your element is not sitting properly, resulting in less heat output. Here are the instructions in case you want to give this a go before deciding to send it off.

As per 7th Floor:
---------------------------------
Thanks for contacting 7th Floor. I will provide you instructions on how to keep the heater element in place, but keep in mind, you could pull or cross wires which would render the unit broken and you would have to send it to us for repairs. It sounds like you need to keep the heater element in place and this could fix all your problems. Pull the heating element up gently and hold the cap and shim down, to prevent the cap and shim from being pulled out. On the side of the heating element, close to the bottom as it is coming out of the cap, you will see the letters "STD-". Pull the heating element out til you see the dash and then slightly twist. Slightly twist. This should hold the heating element in place.

Nope, you only want to be twisting the actual ceramic element (the white rod) no unscrewing necessary. Just make sure it's turned off and cooled down. Just pull it slightly up and twist, as to which direction - no one really says, I went clockwise but my LSV ended up dying a few months later so I'm not so sure it's a permanent fix. Lot of people had better results after adjusting their element though, it may take you a few tries at it.

Are you using an ample amount of herb to cause some resistance against that slowed down inhalation?
try increasing the load slightly. There is a ratio that is just right.
I don't approach combustion if I am using a light load....
...and light loads tend to not vape as dark.

Do you guys vape pure hash? I just got some bubble hash and I broke a few tiny bits and put it in a bowl of herb last night, I used the transfer wand and the herb vaped way too fast. I used to just put powdery hash when I had it in the transfer wand it I got insanely high but I cant seem to break it into a dust like powder like before. I know I've got some answers to this before but I don't think I've asked if you guys mainly use pure hash or mix it with the herb.

We're here to fuck shit up.
I go straight hash. I'll take a chunk and just toss it in the WPA and start hitting it. After one or two long draws it breaks up easily. I mix it up with the pick the LSV comes with and once it's all stirred up it starts giving me huge rips that just destroy.

I think we're onto something here. After adjusting heater slightly I was pretty close to combustion and vaped black herbs.

Can someone confirm to me how the led works? Will it go brighter as you turn the dial, or turn on/off with same brightness no matter where the dial is?

The LED starts out dim and gets brighter as you increase power.

On max my LSV would instantly combust any herb. I use it between 1-3 on the dial...closer to 3 for thick rips.
The light on my unit only has one brightness and is completely unaffected by the turning of the dial.. Anyone had the same issue? Are there any DIY fixes for it? I've given up on 7th Floor support. The Chris guy they have as a customer service rep is pretty much the worst customer rep I've ever encountered.

The light should dim and brighten with the turning of rheostat.
There is ONE chance it is not shot and gone... spray contact cleaner under the knob, and around dial base.. turn up to top and down again.
While doing this... try to get a feel for "drag" on the knob. There should be a tiny amount of resistance as you turn.. as the contact moves along it's counterpart.
If there isn't this drag, then with knob off.. try pushing in a bit harder on the dial post as you turn it up and down, to see if you have forced contact of the base.
If no changes are present, contact 7th floor
P.S.- You can catch more flys with a spoon of sugar... etc.

Thanks Vitolo, I'll try to salvage the dimmer switch this way.

Classical whiny service desk experience story below:
I know you catch more flies with sugar. But it seems that the guy is overworked, or something. When I first contacted him about the oddly shaped heater cover, he suggested that the ceramic element was out of place. Then he suspected the dimmer switch to be broken, and wanted me to send in the unit for repair. Due to the price and risk of sending a vaporizer through two customs... I decided to try another approach. So I asked him if I could get the instructions and the part for the repair sent to me. Sure thing, it would cost me $69 to have it shipped to me. Since I was in the market for some accessories, I suggested that I make an order for the accessories and he include the part in the shipment. Chris agreed to this, and told me to send him the order number, so he could charge me for the part through paypal. After sending in the order number to him (Which was paid in full with CC), Chris proceeds to send me a paypal request for $140.... When I asked him why he is charging so much, he just replied that the part (which would be replaced for free if I sent in the unit) cost $25, but offered no explanation to why he requested $140 extra from me to to include the part in the shipment. At this point I asked him to just cancel the order and forget about it.

Regardless of the actual spot where poor communication began, and continued... you were not made to feel that your issue was a big deal.
Sometimes folks in a position to help us out become somewhat desensitized to what it feels like to feel without help.
I hope that you can get the dimmer portion to re-engage.

I am probably not the easiest customer to deal with either. My main concern is that I get this intense feeling he is not willing to work with me. Very bureaucratic approach to customer service.

Anyhow. Is anyone willing to make a quick video of the light switch? I see some minimal dimming when I dial the knob around.
