JyARz Storage Containers

OK this is weird. I've seen some glass break due to hairline cracks in the glass (which is usually a single crack in the glass) but three shattered is a first that I'm aware of. Frankly, I'm at a loss. That said if they take a lot of repeated "abuse" the glass does eventually weaken and give way. And if they fall from a height over 4 feet and land flat on their side on concrete or stone the Classic inserts can break. I could have designed them to be 'bomb proof' but there's always a trade-off between functionality and price. I think we got that balance right but maybe someday we'll go with a bomb-proof design for parents with young children. As a parent I could have used one like that a few years ago!

I don't think there were any hairline cracks in any of those three that cracked. My son never even opened them. Apparently he found them in my gym bag and was throwing them. I still can't figure out how he shattered the glass. Everything was kept in piece but just in a bunch of pieces. He can only throw about 2 feet so we are not talking Cy Young here. I ordered 3 replacements over the weekend and vacuumed everything out real good.

One thing I do that might weaken these over time is I take the glass cores out a lot so I can better see how much herb I am sucking into a solo stem or into an ELB. I don't think that would make a problem but who knows.

Any chance he might have walked on the bag with the JyARz inside? If he weighs enough, the force of walking on them, on a hard floor, if the JyARz are lying flat on their sides could do it. I'm perplexed. I don't like product failures like this!

I don't know that your product failed necessarily. My son was throwing them after all. I do have that engineering wood floors so my guess is he was throwing them and they were landing at just the right angle to hairline fracture them inside. My wood floors are more the softer variety so it would not be the same as concrete.

The thing I find crazy is that I did not even notice for a day. The glass held together well enough inside the jyarz that until I started to pull the glass core out to see the herb did it start to fall apart.

Can someone post a photo of a large and a mid-size next to eachother with a phone or something to compare their size to? :)

We're getting ready for HempFest in San Francisco so things are a little busy around here and I don't have time for a photo but the Satchmo is 3X the volume of the Classic (which you refer to as "mid-size"). If you look through this thread I think you'll also see side-by-side shots taken by FC members.

I've tried not to mess too much with the perspective and angles. The ruler is in cm but it doesn't come out very well; the classic is about 8cm tall, the Satchmo 6cm and the Chico 4.5cm. Hope you'll find this useful.

Glad I've finally found a use for this stupid company iPhone 5!

THank you for taking all of these photos...very kind. And I just remembered that many of the images on the homeplage of JyARz.com include a silver dollar for scale....you can get a sense of size there as well.

No worries glad you like my out of focus pics! :D

If I'm not mistaking @Deja Vu is vaping with his head upside down (read he lives in Australia) which probably means that like me (and I'm sure a bunch of other folks peeping this thread and looking at your website as well) he doesn't have much clue on how big a silver dollar is. :haw:
I've only realized after uploading the pics that I could just give the size in cm... and for those who prefer the imperial system well pardon my french but you can refer to my imaginary post about it in this thread!

Hey, you're the one that called it Mid-size! and as was pointed out by *k, I tried to work with the silver dollar but I couldn't visualise it properly. Thank you to all who shared those photos, especially those ones with the iPhone! It's confirmed that these are infact the jars I am getting. Very excited. Now to decide on quantity and colour..
Do the discounts (the more you purchase, the cheaper they become) still apply if I want to get 5 Classic Jyarz with each one a different colour? I pray the discounts are not strictly for those that decide on one colour for all jyarz. - Answered my own question. Discounts DO apply still :) Are there any other discount codes floating around that I may have missed? Thanks Aldo and all others for the prompt replies while I slept

edit: decided on a Pink, Purple, Blue and Red 'mid-size'
and an Orange and Indigo satchmo. Wish the larger ones came in other colours but I think I've got a rainbow of jyarz now anyway. (+5 replacement glass inserts)

2nd edit: Has anyone found the Buna&Casket Replacement Kit come in handy yet? How often do I need to replace those parts..

No more promo codes right now...honestly we're pretty darn busy so I'm not seeing promos in the near future...but I ALWAYS keep the great people on this thread posted on new promos and stuff so if there is one you'll see it here.

Thanks Aldo, and can you think of when I may need to replace my buna/gaskets? Is this a wear and tear type thing or do they just have a tendency to degrade over time?

They are super thick and last a long time. In most cases I think they'll last for years. Its more that I'm really into the idea of modularity as both an environmentally sound way to design things and it creates flexibility of design improvements as well. If you read this thread you'll see we've tried various types of rubber to see if we can find the ultimate solution. That you if we come out with something better you can quickly and easily change out what you have for the improved version.

Yeah excuse me for not reading up on the previous pages before asking the questions. Time was a constraint. That is an amazing approach. Far too much 'old' is thrown away to landfill to make way for the new and improved. I know the glass inserts will come in handy for a lifetime as well, thank you. Order placed.

We do. It's a flat $10 bucks (maybe $10.50) - which is a lot if you are buying just one but if you get a couple not so bad. ....You are on JyARz.com...right?

Most definitely am. $10.50 is fine by me! :) Still getting that strange error though

I tried pressing 'Complete my order' anyway, but it returns me to the same page and requires me to select a shipping method before proceeding.
