man i wish they just put value at like 5$ like most other places do when you buy stuff... I didnt expect to pay that much extra! ends up that i would have gotten a better deal if i went with ebay, BUT atleast It is directly from them i supposed. mehh cost me about $175.. but I got it from the source,... so i assume thats worth something.

im happy but pissed...

make sure to use high-quality butane, at least 5x
Thanks! Everyone keeps telling me that on the forums, yeah I am going to go to a head or cigar shop this week and look for the 3 main brands mentioned here, if they dont got it i am goign to atleast get one that is filtered 5x and high purity. I have some fuel here I will use for now (hasnt messed up my torch in over a year now so it must not be too bad,. as others screw it up in a matter of weeks), but then it is only 5x filtered for this baby!

just burnt out the fumes with torch on the metal parts and let it run for 20min, peopel complain about the chmical taste... WHAT THE HECK DO YOU EXPECT! itsd a NEW device, clean it first and let it run a couple times on its own, common sense should tell you that. it aliek when you put a new screen in bong, you burn the crap out of it first to take away the chemicals on it...
now there is no more fumes :-)
now I have to take it easy because I gotta go skating with two girlfriends after work in a couple hrs and i havent skated in over 10 years!! :-O
They love cannabis also, I think I will bring my new toy :-P

not sure how great its going to work skating... maybe if you keep it in an inside jacket pocket... because butane is stubborn in the cold (just like the propane bbq ;) ). I never had much luck with my Iolite outside in the winter personally.

careful with the fuel, once it clogs up it's a major deal to purge it
not a good analogy.
Anything can make a torch run with impunity.. even a micro torch
The iolite orifice is a very different story, and a particle of impurity can make things uncertain for weeks!

Thanks all, I ened up getting the Colibri Premium Butane ( its what they had at shop) and i have seen it recommended here, I also purged my Iolite from that other butane i put in it and refilled it with this one, why take the chance.

ohh I didnt end up going skating the main friend I was seeing, she decided it was too cold so we just went for dinner, n then back to her place for couple drinks, and it worked there :-P ( the iolite haha)
I already love this thing. but it does get a bit hot, liek the air and my lips when i draw, so for at home or not in rush use i think im gonna buy some cheap tubing and extend the mouthpeace with it.
Any ideas/tips were to get that?

Thanks again guys.

I have had success using 1/4 inch tubing, and it was snug.
5/16 is only 1/16" bigger, and will surely work.
Depending on how you use/store it, the 5/16 would be rapid to pull apart and stash,
whereas if engaging in a good deal of motion, the 1/4 would be more secure.
The tubing you have a link to looks curious.. and expensive.
That is 5 dollars a foot!
Vapir NO2 tube works for me (1/4 inch).. and I use an NO2 mouthpiece also, although it is not needed, the tube alone is fine.
It is not costly.
At Vapir it is 10 bucks for 3 pieces that are each about 18 inches long Vapir NO2 tube
Some Dealers here at FC carry it also!
You can find bargains, and even get tube that works from US Plastics for about a buck a foot.

A mouthpiece lasts a lifetime.
The tube may also.. depending.

You can hook some PV silicon tubing http://www.planetvape.ca/silcon-high-temp-silicone-vaporizer-tubing.html

Any well cured and chosen silicone would do. Other plastic material can make it.

For OG iolite 1/4'' ID 3/8 OD. The final piece of soft rubber of the device fits in this tube.

It make an air seal and heat total filter, you can arrange a length you enjoy to break heat and particles by making angles. I made this mod because intense use of iolite made my lung suffer. short path, high heat, conduction heat.

For Iolite it was mandatory because of the absence of air seal in the stock mouthpiece of the device. This absence is function in the way it mixes air and vapor to soften it.

Hi all I just joined, great site, I just bought an Ioilite v2 and am very happy, but a couple of concerns...

1) I find myself filling with Butane for each session/evening, is this normal?
2) The bowl and metal casing around it are scorched slightly, is this normal? I am thinking maybe I am using it too much with one load?
3) At what point are you supposed to switch from 1 - 0? Mixed reviews

Thanks for your posts & suggestions!

1-I fiil every time I get a chance.
Generally when I am about to vape 1st time in a day, I fill unit. I never wait till it runs out.

2-metal scorches... it is OK.

3- switch from 1-0 to turn unit off.
After you switch from 1-) the unit will heat and hiss 2 or 2 1/2 more times.... giving you a couple of last hits.. then unit is off.

I suspect you did not know how to shut unit.. and were letting it go until it stopped on it's own.
That means a full tank of butane was spent.
Vape until satisfied or vapor tastes too "well done".. and switch to "0"

Howdy SS, welcome to the fun. Good choice IMO. I own several.......

I handle feeding it differently than the all wise Sage of the High Desert. I weigh mine.

The units vary some in weight, but each will hold a bit over 3.0 grams of gas. By noting the 'empty weight' I know the fill. I typically load 1/8 gram of ground herb with 50 or sometimes a bit more bubble hash in the middle. Lovely that way, it goes and goes. Two sessions per load usually. Two loads (for sessions) to a tank filling (I usually have about .5 grams left). So I fill every other load (every fourth session) but I check the fuel by weight (without stem of course).

But as Vitolo suggests, stay 'atune' to the gas level (particularly on cycle start up) and such down when it 'doesn't sound right'. You don't want to ever lose pressure in the tank.

I'm considering getting an iolite myself OF. Would you recommend it as a simple, paired-down on the go vape? I love all my vapes but they're all pretty fiddly and sometimes I just need something simple as can be and functional. I like how the iolite looks/works but it just seems like such a mixed bag reliability and review wise. If i stick with only high quality butane and refrain from playing hacky sack with it, will it last me? I much prefer its look to the wispr, is there any benefits to that new model?

I'd love your general pov and input on this here vape, if you'd be so kind.

Yoosh... OF will chime in, I am sure.
I wanted to put in 2¢ about the classic Iolite, and it's ability to last.
I had a pair of them for 2 years, that never stopped, and I gave them to community members that now still use them daily.
I used them daily also... both of them on my Post Office run... one on way there and one on way home.
Vector is only butane they ever used.
As I said both are daily drivers now for other vaporists.
I have two others.
Both of my current Iolites fire up and work reliably each time.
The Wispr was not good for me.
Shape was bad, and the hose inside came loose in time.
Enough other vaporists had the same experience to turn me off.
The Iolite will last.

That's how it works out for me. I learned early on 'Vector only' for fuel (had some adventures......) and learned to keep track of the weight to know the fuel charge. I used to carry a small can of fuel (drained, flushed and refilled with Vector) but now fill it up (3.1 grams of gas net), load the bowl with about 1/8 gram of ground bud with maybe .05 or .075 grams of bubble in the center. A pair of small vials contain a second load (bud in one, bubble in the other) goes in the case as well. I feel I'm guaranteed four great, trouble free sessions on demand. Since changing to good fuel, keeping track of the fuel load and making sure the vapor path is reasonably clear each filling I've never had anything but smooth sailing.

BTW, I also use a short (half inch) piece of 1/4 inch Silicone tube to attach the smaller VG mouthpiece (tough Polycarbonate plastic), much nicer than the round factor stem IMO. I cut the skinny part of the VG MP.

I've had good success with iolites too. Bought one on preorder when they first hit the market, and have a couple of beta units as well. The WISPR goes a little hotter, and has a fuel window. I'd probably pay an extra $20 for it, over the iolite, but that's about all.

I use a 4 inch piece of the tubing (5/16 ID-7/16OD I think) and a mouthpiece from an Arizer V-Tower I did not like the stock drawtube but other than that this unit continues to surprise and impress me with its reliability and even heating qualities whenever I use it. You just need some patience for l o n g sessions :>)
