The past couple years living in the Free State I've gotten myself into conversation with several Oakley wearing dudes who, for whatever reason, decide to bring up Slavery and why it wasn't that bad. They all basically looked like this:

Specifically, they all point out that slavery and indentured servitude have been practiced by many societies throughout history. And that's true. The difference is, American Slavery selected one specific race of people.... and developed this entire insane Race Science to justify enslavement. Not just for the individual slave, but for all of their descendants. That's an extra layer of horror and stupidity beyond the type of slavery practiced in the ancient world.

Tell any young people you know to start learning Mandarin.

The Chinese company didn't steal this technology. It was given to them — by the U.S. Department of Energy. First in 2017, as part of a sublicense, and later, in 2021, as part of a license transfer. An investigation by NPR and the Northwest News Network found the federal agency allowed the technology and jobs to move overseas, violating its own licensing rules while failing to intervene on behalf of U.S. workers in multiple instances.

I was taught when everything goes wrong by the numbers it's not an accident.

Yeah, moving decent paying jobs to China and leaving Americans with shitty service industry jobs has basically been the official policy of the US Government for longer than I've been alive at this point. This all seems about right, to me. Even if a US based corporation got control of the patents, my guess is they'd still choose to do the manufacturing overseas.
