I'm all in with you on that one man. Just overturning Citizens United would help a lot, but publicly funded elections would have an incredibly powerful and positive effect on our political leaders. We would get many fewer political hacks who are in it for the money. That, by itself, would push back corruption and help recreate a meaningful body there for us rather than themselves. It wouldn't fix our government by any means, but it would certainly make it easier to fix it if that is really our desire. We know for a fact that money is a corrupting influence. The more you take the money out of politics, the more you take the corruption out. It isn't all financial, of course, but it is driven by finance, even when it's not.
But notice how it is barely a topic of conversation anymore in the run up to this election. We are working on more critical government corruption right now, and we have to resolve that first. If we do, then maybe we can address the money next...

I hate to break it to everyone who thinks our long national nightmare is gonna end in 2 weeks time. Even if he loses. Even if he strokes out and dies tomorrow (inshallah). We live in that dumbfuck game show host's country. We have for the last 10 years. We will for at least the next 10 years. A crueler, stupider, more evil place. And we were pretty fucking awful in 2014 to begin with.

The guy who might win the Presidential election in a little over a week has been praising Adolf Hitler. Not a peep from the ADL. Now... I don't really believe this. Soon Shiong's daughter is a left wing activist. My guess is she is spinning the real reason (Donald Trump writes policy to benefit billionaires like her father) for her own purposes. But given the number of journalists who have been hunted down and murdered with American weapons over the past year, I wouldn't blame a paper for withholding support for that reason.
