Discontinued Indica Vaporizer

The Indica is a nice little portable unit to have on the go. It doesn't seem to put out a lot of unwanted oder either. You can shut the lid if in a situation where you need to be more stealth. The black doesn't stand out like the silver does IMO.

It does a great job of producing large vapor clouds that are flavorful. It's an easy portable to clean with a bit of ISO on a Qtip. My unit seems to be very well made and easy to operate.

I think the FCer that had the unit fall apart while he was using it was a fluke. Its wise if you are having problems to stop using it and send it back to the company. Its good to have a back up vaporizer in those circumstances. It's nice to have a variety.

I don't know if the perfect portable vaporizer has been made yet? I will have fun trying to find it. IMO the Indica Noir is one of the top portable units out there right now. It seems to be very well made. Also made with quality materials. The company has done a good job of working with their customer base right here on FC to make this a stellar product.

In search of the best terps and smoothest vapor
So I received both a 14mm and 18mm SonG from @Ratchett . These SonGs rock. For me they are a much more straight forward way to use the Indica with water pieces.

I paired the 14mm with my MFLB Orbiter. I find the size and function of the Orbiter to pair very well with the Indica. Cloudy session for sure.

For the 18mm, I can now pair my Indica with my GBD Assassins Necktie. This makes for a great on the go water vaping setup. Very pleased with the results.

I wonder what costs would be for indica if it was assembled in USA or Canada ,most issues seem to be from factory assembly and not parts. Wouldn't it be cool but the guess is not practical if this was offered in a unassembled kit. The people with knowledge and interest could assemble themselves. Kinda like old radio kits.

*increase the heat setting timeout or make it user selectable. I am a session guy and always have to reset and toggle through back to my last setting which is a minor annoyance.

*internal tool storage

*cartridge system for loading- I love this about my Haze and Inh. Prepackaged for quick swapping on the go.

*Make it smaller without sacrificing performance.

!

Seconded.
Seconded. As others have pointed out, the lid has a lot of empty space.
Seconded.
Seconded.

* Memory! I sometimes run up to the green setting in 1 session and turn it off to save the rest for later. Sometimes later is a day or two later. Sometimes it's frustrating to forget if the material is spent, so I usually waste a bit of juice and crank the vape up to purple or red and see if I get any vapor clouds.

This would be a big one for me. Seconded.

* Bluetooth capability - all the cool vapes have bluetooth! It would be fun to see various stats on the vape - temp settings, battery level, hell some sort of odometer to track sessions or hit count would be SWEET!

A friend just got the Crafty, and the app eliminates the need for a screen for user feedback on the device. So that saves the cost of the screen and some real-estate on the device, and let's face it: most on-device displays are rather limited anyways, and an app can do a LOT more.

Oh, also a setting to dim the LEDs in the app. :)

I realize BT would be more of a deluxe model option for further down the line, but might was well start thinking of it.

What percentage of the vaporist have that paranoia bug up their crack?

A lot. But then FaceBook has proved that people are willing to surrender privacy, just to get "teh bright and shinny." In the short term principles win. In the long run, convenience tramples that for most folk.

Another thing would be some different spacer sizes, since two is usually too much for my bowls and resitricts airflow, while one can be too little (or sometimes one is too much, so like a small, medium, and large size would make sense).

The spacers are great, but the first thing I noticed was it would be good to have a few sizes.

@nigel , pleased to have you back in the forum.

Here's a bit of a heads up. regarding the timeout, memory, and maybe bluetooth potential, the PCB on the next vaporizer will surprise most. I won't say if all owr upgrades will be applied next April but our miniaturization prepares us for models to come. One thing I've thought of is the option of analog interaction for those w/o wireless access.

All space will be accountable for come mid April. This first model out of the gate has been a wonderful learning curve for us all. Thanks to all involved we, collectively, have learnt what is needed on the go. Thinking the swiss army knife of vapes is an awesome challenge to chase.

One thought that I would like to share with those thinking screens. On version one, it might be easier to put a piece of cheesecloth across the bottom of the mouth piece. 98% of current users of the Indica, vape screenless.

Lastly, the spacer that we created is sized to adjust to the volume of herb in the chamber. There really is no need for longer spacers. Test for yourself and you'll find actually better performance with one supplied if you had thought otherwise. The draw of air, pulls the spacer tight against the packed herb and the outer walls.

As always, it's helpful guidance that makes this product the success it is and will be in the future.

@nigel , pleased to have you back in the forum.

Just for the record: I never left. :) I read *all* of the posts. Just sometimes I get behind, and lurk rather than comment on stale posts. :)

But thanks for the update, and listening to our input here at FC. I'm really excited to see what the next generation(s) hold!

Well, I'm not sure anyone wants a *longer* spacer... just more sizes.

The ones now are "half-bowl" sized. (Okay, they are smaller, but I'm rounding up here for sake of discussion.) So that leaves two options: A full bowl, or half of a bowl. [Okay, a third option is an empty bowl that is 100% spacers, but who wants that?)

If we had, say, 1 half-bowl and one quarter-bowl spacer, that leaves us with: Full bowl, 75% full bowl (quarter-spacer), 50% full bowl (half-spacer), and 25% full bowl (quarter-spacer and half-spacer). More options.

I think I speak for a few of us that fill less than our load plus one current spacer, but more than what is allowed in the space that is left by stacking both spacers. [Again, I realize the current spacers are less than 50%, so with them stacked there is still some room in there for product. Although I never measured... silly me.]

With one spacer, I'd pack product and then the spacer on top would rattle around in the free space. It was ever so slightly annoying (plus the pack of the product could expand into the void, and I felt the performance was better with a light pack to it), so I wedged something inbetween the spacer and the door, and it *SEEMED* I got better performance that way. Or maybe that was just in my head and the performance was the same?? I dunno, but it seemed like it was better with the spacer keeping the product in place and the pack not expanding.[/user]

Usually I use one spacer that seems to be the ideal amount for me. My herb usually can go for about 2 - ten min sessions. The product that I am vaping comes out in a uniform dark brown evenly toasted color. This portable consistently gives nice vapor flavor day in and day out.

This portable I prefer using the lower temperatures due to the short air path and never disappoints in the flavor department. The black unit is quite stealth. It has some odor like all vapes, but less than most. It gives off less smell than the Solo, Ascent or the Pinnacle Pro that I have. What's so nice is that you can shut the lid and that seems to cut down on the smell.

I enjoy a portable vaporizer and this is one of my favorites on the market today. With the flavor and the ability to be stealth. Whether you are on the trail or just in your yard this is the perfect on the go model. You don't need to worry about an electrical cord.

@CarolKing I love your indica posts bc they save me the trouble! Couldn't agree more with everything you said, the Indica is still the best conduction portable that I've used, and the most portable portable I've ever used as well!

Looking forward to the next generation and much continued success from Mike and the team!

Well I'm sad to say that my Noir packed in last night :( Exact same problem as before, charging works, the LED works and shows the different colours, but it doesn't heat. It worked great as usual the night before, and I put it on charge until the LED turned white, took it off charge, and left it. The next day when I tried to use it, it didn't work. I don't know if this is a design flaw, but due to the fact that most people don't have this problem I think I'm just getting some extremely bad luck (Especially as it packed in on my birthday!). Oh well, despite this I will continue to put my faith in this company, I can't turn my back on them after everything they've done for not only me but the vaping community as a whole (Thanks Mike!)

Can somebody please PM me the return address? I still have my Silver one as I never actually got an address to send problem units to, and it will help with saving money sending both at once.

Sounds like a combination of bad luck and a small design flaw - haven't heard *many* reports of the issue yet. We'll see what happens to mine - it's getting quite a workout with the PNWT and my 14mm WPA! I wish I had a video camera today - cranked up to red and milked my PNWT - I was quite impressed

I can't handle red anymore dry, the PNWT setup has really spoiled me (ugh, never though I'd say that! But for road trips, the PNWT is perfect! And to think I was about to GIVE it away)

I've heard of a few of these issues and heading to the factory this week. I'm pretty sure that I have the correction down. Sorry for these inconveniences. The Customer service department will be diligent to make sure your time between vaping is minimized.
That's great to hear, but you already have my faith. If there's a correction coming soon, I'm more than happy to wait until then, my Solo (Well, what's left of it) will do for now! Can you sneak us any other info on what's in the new version or am I just being impatient here?

Nice snow scene by the way. I always used to love those first days after a big drop when the pines were so heavily flocked with snow...:)

My Noir also quit heating. I called cust support. They sent me a new vape.
Should I send in the warranty information on the new one? (I thought this might be a question others need answered).
With the Ratthett song and my MFLB Orbiter, this Noir keeps me singing a happy song. Thanks again.

I actually registered my Noir at their website the other day. Sad to report that I'm having the same problems as PlasticTastic and Dynalowrider. Mike is the man, he is already helping me out with everything!

Happy to hear it! I'm loving the red setting with a bubbler! My only wish is that @Indica Vaporizer included a spare mouthpiece like he does oven doors and spacers! The only downtime I have is when my mouthpiece is soaking in ISO

Here's the first sneak-peak at my new Indica Charging Dock - holds the Indica at a nice angle so you can load your Indica while charging. The dock also has an assortment of slots for my SonG, loading funnel, pipe cleaners, extra spacers, and a few other slots for shits and giggles. Still haven't printed it yet, I'll probably try later tonight.

(This is the low poly version, I'll also include a smooth gradient version as well. Charging hole and cable channel are not visible from this angle, the hole will be friction fit to hold the standard Indica USB charging cable )

Yes Mike stands behind his product, it is too bad that more people and businesses aren't the same way.
Ugh. Now the return center was closed or something when my broken Indica was attempted to be returned to them. Tracking says "attempted delivery December 10th 3:15PM, notice left, no authorized recepient available". Now it will automatically be shipped back to me on December 26th if a redelivery isn't requested by Indica or if they don't go and pick it up at the local post office. I will not be paying to ship it back to them twice so I hope someone gets it or requests the redelivery.

Not sure why they use UPS only, USPS was faster. It took UPS four days to get my new Indica from Los Angeles to Portland Oregon. It took USPS only three days to get my broken Indica from Portland Oregon to Springfield Missouri.

Not exactly the smoothest exchange I've ever had, but at least they live up to their word and will honor their warranty.

EDIT:
Mike got back to me via PM very quickly. He is obviously a busy man but will try and have someone pick up my broken Indica from the post office this week.

...put it on charge until the LED turned white, took it off charge, and left it.

If I am reading this properly then part of your problem could be you aren't charging it all the way. You are not supposed to unplug it when the LED turns white, you are supposed to unplug it when the LED turns off. You have been only half charging it.

Edit: found this referenced months back, seems to only be very few units possibly affected. Will PM Mike.

My replacement Indica has a very quiet high pitched buzz when in use. Is this a bad sign? My first Indica Noir the charger buzzed, not the unit itself.

I noticed my battery life on my first Noir and my replacement is a lot less than others have stated. I get about 40 minutes (2 sessions) out of a full charge. I start on dark blue for about 10-12 minutes, then switch to purple for about 3-5 minutes, then red for 3-5 minutes, per session. I can do that twice and then my Indica needs to be charged again. Does that sound like it is around the norm?

I plan on getting a good portable charger so I can charge on the go because I go on all day hikes sometimes and two sessions is not enough for an all day hike.

I also noticed my Indica doesn't stay in the green zone long. It will show white when I turn it on for both sessions then will suddenly show red when I turn it on to attempt a third session. Once the battery is down to red the heating chamber will not get up to vaporizing temperatures, although it will show that it is turned on.

Well, I searched and searched for a portable vape is extremely stealthy, produces a relatively little smell, is well made, and very easy to store(with or without a bowl packed) and I can find no other vaporizer that fits the bill as good as this one. Read through a large portion of this thread and it just fits everything I'm looking for.

So, I'm planning on placing my order for a Noir tomorrow, but just want to ask a couple questions. Is it fairly easy to load? I saw the Indica loading funnels for sale on etsy(from someone Im pretty sure I've seen posting in this thread) and I'll definitely place an order for one of those, but if for some reason I dont have that is it still fairly easy to load? Also, I wanted to know how long a full bowl with no spacers would last. I plan on almost always using spacers when I'm at home using it and whatnot, but I would like to re-pack it as little as possible when I'm out skiing. Thanks for any help in advance guys!

With a small enough container its easy, and otherwise I never have trouble with a folded business card or the like. Unloading is easy with a pick. A full bowl should last at least 3 full sessions unless they're all on red. But yeah this is a great pack and go vape

One suggestion, I softened, (rounded) the corners of the picks hooked end to make it easier to clean the bottom corners of the oven. The MFLB brush helps out here also. 7-11 Slurpee straws, (spoon end), works great to fill the oven. Just cut it about 2" and slip it on the handle end of the brush. When done, turn the brush around and use the straw to protect the bristles.
