On my solo, for my usual settings (4-5) i have tried shorter stems (glass, wood) and it was too hot to really enjoy the session. So it seems that a minimal length should exist ..... The indica air path length (~3'') seems to be short vs the solo stem (~5'').

How does the 'heat sensation' compare with the solo ? - Thanks ! -

I also have a shorty for my solo and agree anything past 3 is a little too hot. No so with the indica. It has a smaller air path and bigger oven. Definitely not uncomfortably hot IMO. Just a much different design allows for a short airpath to be effective. Probably similar heat to a solo with a 4" stem. If your heat sensitive, vitolo posted a video using a whip with impressive clouds somewhere in this thread.

Thanks @Vape Dr. for getting back to me. I have on loan a new black Indica V2 unit. I'll be running it through the paces. It doesn't have a battery that the user can remove by the looks of it. I'm really excited to try it this evening.

Oh, and I know the v2 is supposed to have removable batteries. Does the unit you have in had have that, or is that still to come? The v2 I have doesn't appear to have an obvious way to remove the batteries. (I didn't try pulling it out like the way one would refill a zippo, as I don't want to break things if that isn't the case.

I would like to offer some clarification about the replaceable batteries in the new version. @Indica Vaporizer touched on it in the post below.

A couple of updates for FC followers, over the next few days you may note several pre launch October models being commented on or photographed. These units are not in mass production. One change that is absolute for this October unit is that it is with the replaceable battery.

For those questioning the One-year warrantee, here’s how I see it. Normal battery life is about one year (300 to 500 recharges). If you continue to be pleased with the Indica’s performance after a year and the battery fails, You can purchase the replaceable battery plus the labor of installment for under $100.00. Indica will replace the battery then extend your warrantee another year at that time. I’ll kick this into writing on the warrantee in about a month.

The replaceable batteries are not user replaceable. They can only be replaced by the manufacturer. I feel that there has been some anticipation of user replaceable batteries, so I wanted to clarify the issue and set proper expectations of the new unit.

IMO the Indica does not need user swappable batteries in any case. If someone needs to have more than 7 or 8 sessions before returning to "the grid", then they should be considering a butane-powered device IMO.

Some of my observations so far comparing the new version over the old version are:

• Faster heat up time
• Denser vapor production
• Cooler to the touch (by about 7° - 9°F)

I'll try to post up a vapor comparison video sometime this weekend.

I just received my replacement indica yesterday. Very happy to have a working indica! I know some have had to wait for responses, but I must say to this point my experience with their customer service has been flawless.

Ok so a couple changes on the replacement unit. It came with the silicone mouthpiece cover and the area below the mouthpiece is sealed like the black one. The button also feels better, just clicks nicer. It appears to have the same size airpath as the original. It also looks like they changed the gasket where the oven meets the housing. I just hope the bugs have been worked out and I'll get a year or so of trouble free daily use. It still quietly hums like the last units when heating, can't really hear it unless up to my ear.

That is a real shame in my opinion. The heat sensation with the Indica is so very subtle.
Especially using the newer rubberized mouthpiece, the Indica is cool on the lips.

Try packing it a little bit tighter. I fill the oven to the top, tap the side with my finger, add some more until the Chambers full then put a spacer in and push it tight. I never get particles in my mouth. The "funnel" in the mouth piece should stop anything from getting in your mouth.

What @Vape Dr. said. Also, I'd bet a lot that you're pulling too hard. I used a screen only once and decided that it wasn't worth the hassle. I have tried all sorts of loads, including small (.05 g) finely ground loads that weren't packed at all, and I've never gotten particles in my mouth.

A "too loose" pack is a sure formula for crumbs to get through.
Pack it tight or use a screen.
The tight pack also helps with the efficiency of conductive vapor production.

I appreciate Vape Dr.s attitude, and how he is moving on in spite of a recent injustice.

I agree with @pakalolo. I did try a screen once as well, then I took it out the next time.
The Indica works surprisingly well without a screen once you get a good idea of the amount you should put in the oven.

Agreed. If its got to go back to the manufacturer then having replaceable batteries makes no difference to us what so ever. I'm a bit disappointed by this. Oh well.

So, regarding waiting a bit for the new ones, since the battery is not going to happen (and was the main reason I was waiting), the new changes are a coated mouthpiece (hopefully this will be obtainable as a retrofit?), and a black color (which would be really nice, but is not a deal-breaker). Otherwise, the hole in the mouthpiece is larger, and that's about it? I am plenty comfortable drilling one out.

All that said... I do wish the black ones were available now, I am in need of a portable ASAP and my timing with gadgets like this seems to always have me looking to buy right before the improvements are rolled out.

So far so good. I've found it clogs a bit easier than my old one but I'll post again with more comments once I test it a bit more.

I will add though that I think Mike told me my replacement would be a beta of the new version, minus the black powder coating. Sure enough, that's how it seems, with the black mouthpiece, bigger opening and cooler running temps.

The mouthpiece isn't coated btw (well its black so maybe yes-ish), but it has a little silicone cap that is removable. I think thats what you were referring to? And the original is an excellent vape, the differences of the new model don't hurt the originals excellence!

Regarding the factory replaceable battery program, please be aware that the batteries are rated for 300 to 500 recharges. As sales in the EU expand, a European Fulfillment center, not yet determined at this time , will likely be setup as our secondary operation and battery replacement service center. For those concerned about freight, this central hub will eventually allow for the same affordable battery replacement program and the added warranty extention of one year offered to to those that elect this upgrade/renewal process.

This offer is one that will be offered to the customers after the one year warranty period has lapsed.

Does anyone know when the indica v2 comes out? I'm practically on board for this vape, but if a newer version is about to come out, might as well wait.

The matte black Indica that is currently in my hands is a V2, but without the user changeable battery.
I approve.
The taste is good, and the vapor production is good... but that was the case for my V1 also.
What has changed that is most obvious are :

• Heatup seems faster.
• Battery depletion is slower.

I used the unit for 3 full sessions, and the light was still on the white/pale blue... meaning I was still at a top level of charge.
It took a 4th session to bring the battery level down to green.
This is a positive attribute!

After messing around more with my replacement I'm finding it clogs much easier than my old one. I've not changed my process. Maybe I'll try the mouthpiece mod discussed earlier in this thread.

I don't think the battery has changed, I will get the same amount of sessions. What has changed (for me) is I get more sessions with battery power on light blue and less on red. Works out to be the same

Yeah that could just be because the battery level was originally 3 on white 3 on green 3 on red (on average), then it became percentage based so it would match the charge level indicator. I personally like the original way, since I could remember how many I had on each color and always knew almost exactly how much I had left. But since i accidentally damaged my original se la vi, I'm sure I'll get used to it this was as well
