Discontinued Indica Vaporizer

Damn. Took me a long time to catch up on this thread, but I've now read 100% of it. I've had the unit a week, and have been *trying* to use it exclusively.

I have the new black unit, and I find there is a lot to love about this little guy.

I've also found I've had some mediocre sessions, and then a few *excellent* sessions. I'm blaming the difference on user error, and just need to practice more. :) MORE PRACTICE!!1!

I'm not ready for a full review yet, but I do have a few thoughts collected. I'll post more once I have had a chance to collect my thought, but overall, I think I need to expand my quiver. :)
Try grinding your herb a bit finer. That seems to work very well on the black beta units.
Also make sure the air path is clear.

Has anyone heard anything on when the replacement units will be sent out?
As of tuesday (I think) they still haven't been sent. Still having issues. Not sure if there's an update. Atleast that's what michael said earlier in the week.

Edit: my orignal payment for a davinci ascent was made like 3 months ago lol. I decided on an indica after the ascent was fumming. So i've been waiting a really long time for this.

@Indica Vaporizer
So if I was to buy one today, what unit would be sent out? Would it have the larger air path and replaceable battery?

Also are the black units any smaller? The size is killing it a bit for me. Looks very large in review videos. Am I just tripping?

Finally is there a FC discount?
:brow:

Thanks

Hello @Higher than a Pterodactyl! If you ordered today you would receive the stainless steel 1st version.
The V2 beta units are still being tested for maximum satisfaction!
I believe the black units are scheduled to be released sometime in October.
They are both the same size. Take a look a few pages back, I have a black beta next to a MFLB so you can see the Indica is absolutely the smallest "internally powered" vaporizer on the market.

Lame. I was about to order, but I don't want to buy an outdated model. Guess I'll be passing on this vape for awhile longer.

@Vape Dr. Thank you for the info. I did see your size comparison, as well as read most of the thread now. Thank you very much.

The first versions are still an excellent choice and are the latest model, they are a great vaporizer. The newer version is definitely improved, but it is still in beta testing mode.
Maybe Indica will do an upgrade/exchange when the new version comes out:shrug:, we will have to see.

This vape and I are just not meant to be I guess. I was finally convinced by the owner in a pm (seems like a nice guy), and I go to buy it and they don't take paypal. FML.

Does anyone know where I can buy it with paypal?

PuffItUp.com (one of the Forum's Supporting Retailers) takes PayPal. They have outstanding Customer Service. Also has an FC discount (FC-1 I believe, but if that doesn't work check the thread).

Hey guys,

I just ordered an Indica from VaporNation. Love the matte black v2 one, but no way in hell am I going to wait till October to start vaping :D

VaporNation just said they got a new stock of Indica vaporizers today, so I'm getting one of the latest units (that don't have any manufacturing issues). Can't wait till it comes in!

Hey @Vape Dr. So how's everything with the beta unit? I'm anxious for some new news haha. How is the draw compared to vs. 1?
@TNT_error, The new black units are awesome. They look way stealthier which I love, but they also have less draw restriction, and better taste IMO. The larger air path made a huge difference. The newer V2 units definitely give bigger clouds for sure.
I have been putting my beta unit through the ringer and all I have to say is, Well done Mike! Well done indeed.
Don't get me wrong, the stainless steel V1 Indica is an awesome vaporizer too, but the subtle differences Mike has made to the new V2 black Indicas made a huge difference.
I wouldn't be surprised if we keep on seeing improvements on the Indica as it progresses.
I love the rubber mouth piece tip. Some may or may not like it, but no worries, it comes right off and has a nice anodized black mouth piece under it.
All in all throughout the time I have been testing it, this is what I've noticed so far:
-better taste
-bigger clouds
-oven seems to last forever
-cooler to hold in the hand
-cooler to hit (depending on the temp obviously) with or without the mouth piece tip
-less draw restriction
-long battery life (have yet to have it die on me)
-the powder coated black is awesome baby!
-very enjoyable!

Dr. Vape, I. Always enjoy your down to earth reviews. You always have a great way of spotting the details the average vaporizer needs to know, in a language all can understand. Also you seem yo be a very honest person with a knack for details.

I may buy this vape when the new revised version comes out to the public for sale this fall.

Thanks for all your hard work writing out the reviews. The homework is fun though I'm sure.:D

@CarolKing Thank you so much for the kind words!:)
It means a lot to hear that I am helping people such as yourself out. My main goal when I review a vaporizer is to make sure its safe, ergonomic, and user friendly.

Thank you again @CarolKing I will continue to review vaporizers and give you guys the real deal on them with down to earth, easy to understand reviews.

I have 4 reviews coming in the next month or two!

I really hope they offer a trade in for v2. I would definitely pay a little extra for the improvements.

One of the only things that I don't like so much about the indica is how hot it gets. Even just on green I feel like it gets too hot to hold. I end up holding it by the lid, but I find that slightly uncomfortable. Not the biggest issue, I know, but if the newer version is less hot I will definitely upgrade. But, inn the meantime, does anyone have any tips to combat the heat of the body?

Also, I was wondering how fine everyone grinds their material. I use a four piece grinder that I got for free from puff it up and I grind upside down for a little bit. Is that fine enough, or would something else be better?

All portables I had the chance to test get hot during the session, it's normal.

The problem is that the batteries don't like heat at all, it reduces their lifetime.

While it's tempting to do very long sessions and enjoy the low temperature flavors with these nifty portable devices, it's unfortunately better to keep the sessions short and/or spaced away.

Of course once the V2 will bring replaceable batteries to the table, this will be even less of a concern!

If it gets so hot you feel you need to hold it by the lid something's wrong. Either your ultra sensitive to heat or you have a defective unit. I use mine on purple all the time with no discomfort.

I've been getting caught up on this thread. I didn't see anywhere if you can use wax inside cotton or mix in the middle of some herb with this unit?

Yes @CarolKing I used a small swatch of organic cotton with some oil and kief previously and it works well. Just make sure to clean the chamber good after!

Thanks @Vape Dr. for getting back to me. I have on loan a new black Indica V2 unit. I'll be running it through the paces. It doesn't have a battery that the user can remove by the looks of it. I'm really excited to try it this evening.

It's a beautiful portable vaporizer. It feels very sturdy too. The new mouthpiece is soft, I like that. The size is small, that's always a good thing. The spacers are a very nice feature. I gave it a full charge and wiped the oven with a bit of ISO and cleaned the mouthpiece. I have some top shelf so I'm ready to go.

It will be a week or so before I give my take on it.

@Vape Dr. - I have been trying to get a finer grind as you suggested. I'll use the Santa Cruz for stage 1, then run it through a freebie ginder I have as I don't have a finishing grinder. Also I have been packing lighter/looser of late.

Oh, and I know the v2 is supposed to have removable batteries. Does the unit you have in had have that, or is that still to come? The v2 I have doesn't appear to have an obvious way to remove the batteries. (I didn't try pulling it out like the way one would refill a zippo, as I don't want to break things if that isn't the case. I had a LOT of trouble getting the mouthpiece off for cleaning as I suspect the black coating might have locked it down.... Kinda like painting a window shut. I had to keep rocking the mouth piece little bit by little bit, back and forth, just to get it off eventually. (Also didn't want to break it.) But now the seal is broken, it is quite easy to remove.)
