Discontinued Hopper io

Since the three 3 packs of batteries shipped almost immediately, I took a chance and ordered a replacement backend as the 420 code was working on parts and accessories too, and was still active two days ago even after the banner was removed from the site. This order I’m more pessimistic about, even with the batteries shipping quickly. So I figured I’ll give it a week or two then just do a chargeback if it doesn’t ship.

That three-pack I ordered on the 23rd, which shipped on Monday(the 25th), arrived today(the 30th).

BTW, I thought I was having problems with my charging ring, it's been happening off and on for years. I replaced the USB adapters several times over the years, so I assumed I had that covered. Wrong again! Apparently I've been buying the cheapest adapters available, thinking they're all the same. Regular USB plugs are designed based on 1500 cycles, which isn't that many if using multiple times daily. However, they are not designed for a lot of movement. The female connector is apparently most likely to be damaged. Anyway, after struggling with it for "a while", I'm finding that my charging ring works as designed when pugged into a new adapter.

What can I say, am I really an idiot? Is life just complicated, is it more complicated for me because I'm stupid? Could this be a symptom of excessive cannabis use? WTF? How many other things have I missed?

You paid for your stuff my friend. i still do not get how they are still allowed in business, i do not think this would have ever been possible in EU, it has been years and these clowns are still there shipping batteries. But they can get away with ripping people off, well, respect Hopper Labs, what else can I say?

Is everyone getting GHB3 batteries in their orders? I ordered 9 batteries and got a dead GHB2 from what I can tell. I know sneaky pete said in his review video for the hopper io that the company claimed some new GHB3's were mislabeled as GHB2's but I'm a little skeptical.

I guess I made off better than most, in the past year i have only been ripped off for the bubbler and 2 of the glass mouthpieces for the performance front ends.

The mis-labeled batch was in 2020, highly unlikely that they're still shipping those, but then again, look who we're dealing with...
I ordered some last week and haven't got anything yet.
These guys sure have left a trail of woes in their wake.

I ordered 8 batteries on 4/20, but apparently I ordered on an older version of the io website and I did not see or receive any discount. Then, I read on this forum that HL was offering a 420 discount on a slightly different website identified here on FC. So, I logged in there, saw the 420 discount for 3-packs and ordered 9 batteries for the lower discounted price on 4/23. I then went back to the older website and tried to cancel the older order (was it actually live and active for new orders? why are there 2 almost identical websites?), and then sent HL an email requesting order cancellation. I never received any confirmation of the first order cancellation. Then, less than a week later, I received two shipments on the same day for both orders, both of which contained GHB3 batteries. On 4/23, I also asked my CC company to reverse the charge for the first order. So far, I have not heard back from HL about the cancelled order, but I am confident this will work out through my CC company.

I am still a big fan of the functionality of the io (I own a few) and use one at least daily. But it's pretty obvious that HL is failing more than ever as a business. I only hope that the people at HL wake up and sell this innovative product to a REAL company that can capitalize on the design and continue innovating and supporting it. But that very likely will mean the official end of the not-so-real lifetime product warranty. Oh well, that's pretty much what we have now, but at least we might be able to obtain replacement parts when needed.

The OG Hopper and then the io showed me how much was possible with small battery-powered vapes. I often thought that I'd like to see them make a "magnum" version, using an 18650 and resembling a large marker or small flashlight instead of a pen. I'd always had surprisingly good luck with RMA requests so when my io started to burn my fingers I thought nothing of sending it back. That was six months ago. A few emails with questions were ignored. Finally, in February, someone responded, "The warranty system is very backlogged waiting on parts." Okay. By that time I already had a new TinyMight – which, in many ways, fulfilled my desire for a magnum Hopper. The form was sacrificed but I think that a large SS tube would have been too bulky anyway.

I really agree with Reefer Fiend's comment above. I have one working io which I hardly use anymore but I took it out a few weeks ago because I was going to visit some friends and it's more compact than the TM and easier to put in a pocket. And I was very pleasantly reminded of the power of a working Hopper. I'd like some benevolent millionaire to buy both Hopper Labs and Lotus!

Not much going on there, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.

When it works, it is by far the most convenient and discreet vape ever made. That being said both my OG and IO are broken, warranty claims on both. The IO is with Hopper labs for almost a year and they wont answer my emails or update the claim or anything. I don't know what to do. At this point I've kinda given up with them. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

managed to fuck up and select the wrong preset while playing around with the ATM, AC adapter and hopper - so RIP to that unit, only lights up for a second when you press the button and seems to be dead for now.

interestingly enough while looking around for spare bodies/backends, it looks like the hopper is also gone from vgoodiez atm: https://vgoodiez.com/collections/grasshopper-labs
no idea if thats just because they dont even have enough units to stock their own online shop or if its a sign of the company shutting down for good...

Oh how were you using the ATM with it? I don't see what the purpose would be, I plug the PA assembly directly into the wall with the power adapter, and the hopper is controlling your temp, so were you just playing around? That sucks!

yeah the idea was just to use the ATM with both my verdamper and hopper io and not need their respective power bricks anymore - I could also just set it to 4.2V and skip on the custom converter and just use a dc-to-xl30 plug - but when I switched them around I had the 12V preset set and that probably fried the hopper

Haha yeah that I remember, Scott was willing to put in a word with the CS to help flag cases, but I don't know that it ever made much difference? And especially now I don't know what's going on, I have semi-defective hoppers that I've accepted will never be serviced or replaced, lucky enough that I have some usable parts, and that I don't rely on this vape at all because I have much better options now... (TM, TB, xmax v3pro)

So interesting @Spleeeno and scary haha it does sound super awesome practical, like to be able to use the knob of the TM instead of the dial of a hopper, but I wouldn't want to risk it especially now, lucky that I have a frankenhopper PA setup along with my blue IO, though I almost never use them, I don't think I could part with them... I have a spare Ti body that is underpowered (one of the defects) so I used its back end with my steel hopper (because the steel back end got stuck to a PA assembly with old threading)

Hey, the replacement backend I ordered shipped today lmao.

Not bad for $86 and a company I thought was dead and there was 99% I'd never see it.

Sorry to all those waiting on batteries and backends and other accessories that never shipped from years and months prior though :-( Maybe re-order via Sezzle (maybe the discount code still works lol). I did attempt to dispute my backend order a week or so ago via Sezzle since there was no movement on it and that was denied saying it was still within their shipping timeframe (lol), probably had nothing to do with it shipping today though.

@Spleeeno maybe ordering a backend is an option still?

yeah I was kinda trying to get both an ti backend and a ti body (no need for battery or mp/pfe) but as usual their shop structure is confusing and complicated. a few months ago they had body and backend spares on hopperio.com, but now only the backend is even listed as an item:

I can find a few stainless hopper ios listed, mostly in canadian shops, but the ti version or spares of it is basically impossible to get atm, and I really dont need another mp and battery...

but I'm in no hurry to get it fixed, so I might just look into it again in a few months or drop them a mail.

Hey, the replacement backend I ordered shipped today lmao.

I got notice about shipping on some batteries & condom ordered a few weeks ago on the 40%-off.
Maybe they will spark some new interest for me in the one half-assed hopper I have left. (tight back end and hot flashes out the air holes, pita).
During the waiting time our Bowle had an issue, went to Canada for service and came back to NY working great.

My warranty claim on 2 bodies and a back end has been in limbo since Nov '21

I don't think ti hoppers have been available a la carte or full kit for quite some time.

It's incredibly sweet and strong. This is probably greenhouse weed considering the lower cost. It has flavor and vapor at every step from the first hit at 220° to max temperature at 430°f. Only vaping 1.5 - 2 bowls per day, and that's too much. Getting 9 brain-scrambling hits per bowl.

My io will be 21 months old in a few days. I'm trying to think positive thoughts. I consider myself extremely lucky to be able to fully enjoy dangerously strong weed with the io. .
