Hey all. I'm new to the forum but I've been lurking for awhile. I'm in the market for my first vape and I'm looking for some opinions.
My wife and I will be sharing the vape, at least to begin with, but I'm assuming eventually we'll each have our own. We smoke organic homegrown flowers, some medicinal and some recreational. We'll mostly use it at home but with the holidays coming up it'll be nice for stealthy hits when we're traveling. Value, simplicity, durability and manufacturer customer service are high on our priority list.
The HR Fierce looks like it could be the one for my needs. Am I missing anything? The replaceable batteries are also a huge plus. We've got some glass so we'll also get a WPA. Boundless Tera is another contender but I need to research it a bit more. Boundless CFX looks good but no user replaceable batteries knocks it down a bit.

Forget the CF/x unless really cheap
, the 2 you have left will both be great and are a big step up from the CF/x, I already have a Tera and love it.
I dare say I will love my Fierce too, when they become more readily available and I get one.

Do you guys think the Fierce runs a bit cold? Regular readers will recall the trick I stumbled upon: clicking to raise the temp one degree after or during your draw updates the display to the actual temp, which is kinda fun to see how much your draw lowered the measured temp.
Now I grant you I mostly use the bent stem or wpa and they create a slower extraction with the insulation of the glass itself plus the added distance from the heat source. Still, it seems to me like the Fierce is a bigger car with a small car motor. I kinda prefer the performance and flavor, I just have to rethink the temps compared to other vapes and draw slower to play nice with the heater maybe.
@Urahara honestly, I think you're right. It doesn't make much sense but I was struck by the heavy feel of my preorder Fierce and I don't notice so much with the new one that arrived Wednesday. Maybe I got used it that quickly?

First off, howdy! Welcome to the Forum, good folks with ready advice.
I also applaud your decision to dump combustion and switch to vaping. Smart at many levels. However we don't 'use the s word' here. Notice the title of the Forum? Smoke is evil......
FIERCE is probably a solid choice for a 'first vape', although it did just go through a big recall. No doubt it'll eventually become another dependable unit from HR, but for now I think that's a factor worth considering. Something like a Solo I with it's very long history of excellent service for about the same money might make a more sensible choice? If the goal really is outside use, I think Fury 2 is a better call despite the limited battery life (how much did you intend to use it in one trip?). And you can bring a 'power bank' to recharge on the go if needed. Very small and 'hand friendly', while FIERCE is much bigger and heavier, harder to 'palm' and doesn't fit in pockets well.
F2 has the 'simple, easy to use' nod I think.
I agree with 'forget CFX' it's OK but not in the same class.
No really bad options, your call.
Again, welcome. Expect to want more/different vapes as your experience grows.

I only have a CF and just got the VapCap M. The small amount of hesitation I have is if the Fierce is that much better than the CF to warrant double the price. Would you say it’s money well spent?Forget the CF/x unless really cheap

I really like the HR website--lots of great info. It really seems like they've got their act together. The Fierce recall doesn't bother me. The company seems to be very open about the issues and they're standing behind their products. The Fury 2 has a great reputation so I'm assuming the Fierce will be similar. Also, we're in a non-friendly state so we won't be carrying this around with us most of the time so the larger size doesn't bother me.
And I really like the idea user-replaceable batteries. Non-proprietary would be better but as long as the factory replacements aren't overpriced I don't have a major problem.

Honestly the fierce isn't that big. I will carry mine around in my pocket when I go on trips.

@Mikey @oshannon @roonsy the Fury 2 was my first vape and I'm glad I have both now.
When you own both it makes the Fury 2 look ultra portable or travel sized, like an 11" laptop that's a bit too small for reading text but worth it for being thin and light.
I also find the Fierce to be less harsh than the Fury 2 at the same temp, which makes sense since I mostly use the bent stem and wpa.
It feels like the two vapes use the same heater and the larger chamber of the Fierce makes it notably slower to extract. With the glass accessories it takes more temp and time to extract fully and it seems near impossible to get avb as dark as the Fury 2. I prefer that slower extraction because the vapor quality is better. The Fierce performs more like a convection/hybrid than the Fury 2 which has vapor wisping out of the mouthpiece pretty quickly at higher temps.
When you own both, the Fury 2 looks like the obvious choice for a pocket vape or for a microdose. A bent stem or wpa is a perfect way to fully vape .5g or .1g with quick heat up time and full extraction before the cut off time. If you want to vape any more than that, you have to use the black mouthpiece and sacrifice the glass airpath.
At home I mostly always prefer to reach for the Fierce. I prefer the bigger glass accessories, adjustable session timer, swappable battery, USB C charging, as well as improved vapor quality, better flavor, and convection effects. It really does make the Fury 2 look like a Fierce Mini.
Lastly, while I'm a big fan of the Fury 2, the meager battery life is a drag. It seems to sneak up on me: like I'm sure it had two bars left when I finished last time and then I turn it on and it's showing zero bars instead of two or even one. Combine that with the slower charging and non-replaceable battery and I'm even less likely to reach for it at home.

Indeed, I agree. The trick you mwntion dropping the temp by 1degree and increasing again shows the temp to be off by around 20f. Also the abv definitely shows at a lighter colour at the same temps compared to in my other vapes. I don't mind so much as i just stick my Fierce on 420 and go for a full spectrum extraction which is really enjoyable. To be fair I have a tendency to do this with my convection vapes. Conduction ime is better for temperature stepping. Convection getting everything in 1 go.
I love my new Fierce vape which I tend to use around the house and my fury 2's more when out the house.

HR sent me multiple batteries and I'll be wanting to put a couple into storage. What would the best charge percentage be for this? Full bars? 3? 2?

Store them in a cool, dry place (heat and moisture are bad) with 2/3 to 3/4 charge. No more, just storing them at 100% will damage them over time. Which is why you get them (new) charged at this level, makers know the rules. You can estimate this based on the primitive 'meter' or charge them fully then do sessions......
I'd default to the low side, half charged is still fine for many years.

HR website says the Fierce will be available 11/26. I'll keep researching until then but I'm planning on buying one ASAP. I'd really like to be combustion-free by the new year. My wife even mentioned taking a t-break last night. We're both getting tired of coughing and we don't want the house to start smelling like a smoker's house. Ya know what I mean?
The Fury 2 has also caught my eye. My wife might prefer the smaller size as her daily driver and the lifetime 1/2 price replacement warranty is a nice alternative to not having a replaceable battery. Thoughts on buying a Fierce and a Fury? I've got to wait for the Fierce to be available anyway so I might as well wait and see what happens on Black Friday.

@Moses Baca combustion free is the way to go buddy...if you want something asap..grab a fury 2 from puffitup...use the Puffedup code at check out for 15% off...the vaping high takes a lil bit to get used to...some people need to see a plume of smoke to feel high...idk why my brother was like that for a long time...but i set him up w a vape and a bong...and that keeps him away from the joints and bowls...definitely worth converting to vaping...more efficient..flavor galore..and you can reuse your spent flowers for edibles and tinctures...oh yea and your not inhaling all that nasty carbon monoxide from smoking

For me as a life-long rec user and switching to vaping 3+ years ago (mostly, like 98% of the time), I’m less tired and feel better overall with less sinus pressure and headaches than combustion was contributing to. Everyone is different and trying new things, i.e vaping, with a cautious trial-and-error approach is the way to go.
Vaping is a different kind of delivery method and, for me, not as intense as combustion. Just my personal observation as a relative novice and with only a few vapes under my belt compared to many herein.
EDIT: I have a Fury and love it! Contemplating getting a Fierce and I actually ordered a pre-order and cancelled before original shipping date since I got the Fury (it was a last-minute serendipitous thing before a trip as my since my main vape died and I needed something - and I found the Fury). HR makes great products and customer service is tops.
