Haha kinda true. All my daytime posts I’m at work and don’t have the unit so I’m just going off what I did the night before. Sitting in court you get a lot of down time.

@Magistra well what you need to remember is the following:

This is a convention vape. You do not sip it like a conduction vape. One of the most important factors it’s your draw. You need to draw for about the full 10 seconds. It cannot be a soft draw. It needs to be a hard draw. You need to hear the air flowing through the intake valve. Think about this vape like hitting a bong. Yes I’m still using that reference. Press button. Let it heat up. Take draw. Release button and inhale for an extra 2-3 seconds can be quick or slow just to clear out the chamber like you would with a bong. It’s not too complicated when you get use to it. It’s like driving a manual car. Took me about 2 weeks to finally get 4 days of consistent draws. Just gotta pull hard with your mouth. Sometimes when I draw I’ll pull hard for 5 seconds and then lightly draw for 1-2 and then start pulling hard again. When I do that on a fresh bowl I usually get a crap ton of vapour at 365F. Last time I did it, I coughed hard twice in a row. As for packing you’ll want to do a very light tamp. Like barely anything. Just to even everything out. You will also need to fill the whole pod for best results. But it’s okay cause you don’t have to vape it all in one day. Like I’ve been saying I’ve had the 2 same bowls going for 4 days. I hope this helps. This is the most basic way I can explain to use this device. I think DJsleepy would agree. Earlier we all were complicated it. And never double button press. If you do, you deserve to be slapped. You’ll cause way more problems than good. I’m serious. Stay away.

My abv on one bowl of the 4 day session was almost perfectly even brown. Was amazing. Didn’t take pics. Tired of the imgur crap. I took a lot of time and effort making my precious posts. My second bowl, did not look as good. But since it was 4 days old tasted like crap.

Thanks Gin, your posts were so helpful to me in choosing the Square. I like to microdose, not get too high and I have kids around, so repacking the Solo at the beach was not going to happen, and I was ending up using disposable oil pens from the dispensary, which aren’t as nice (obviously) as raw flowers. I’m thinking I can pack two bowls of sativa and two indicas and be set for the week.

It’s been 25+ years since I hit a bong HAHA I’ll have to practice!

Other tips I recall are about the fine grind. Do I really need a MFLB grinder? I’ve been lazy and just stuff whole buds in my Solo. Not the Most efficient, I know, as half my abv is often still greenish. I wonder if there is a good electric one that could rip through an 1/8–1/4 quickly. Ones I’ve looked at seem like the get gunked up and you lose Kief. I have two rather normal type metal 4 piece grinders already, and like to keep it simple.

So:

Check the coil is flat
Fine grind
Dry herbs
Full bowl, lightly packed
Single button push
Learn proper draw
Finish whole tray before cleaning/reloading

@Magistra Don’t bother buying a grinder if you already have one. I have a puff by pipes. A Zeus grinder. And a 2pc space case. I’ve been using my puff grinder the most. Just make sure your stuff is dry. I store in a mason jar. But the last shit I got was damp a bit and that didn’t perform well. Now that it’s dried out it’s gotten better. You can always grind upside down.

If you want to microdose in this vape someone suggested place a screen on top of the half filled bowl. Yet to try that. I just pack full bowls and hit them periodically. No one said you have to finish the bowl in a session.

I did have ups and downs with this damn vape. Going back to page 100 or so I was having good times. Bad times. And then wanted to give up. But then I finally got the hang of it. I like to be able to use shit immediately. This vape had a bit of a learning curve for me. Wife picked jr up fine. Buddy picked it up fine. Neighbour just couldn’t do it.

You don’t have to finish whole tray. Lately I only been packing 2 bowls and I check them every 4 or 5 draws to see how my abv is going and sometimes for a quick stir. Not needed but since I opened it fuck it why not.

See I told you gino had it !!!!! Also don't be scared if you have to remove coil it's more intimidating than it looks! Flat laying coil is crucial!

There are no differences in units between Phase 3 and current phase. We divide the phases to control inventory and data. We want to make sure that we take care of our resellers/wholesalers/distributors as much as we take care of all preorder customers. The Phase 4 was not originally planned but due to the volume of sales, we need to make sure that we do not upset any retail customer. It is also good like @Djsleepy said to gather feedback. So far, since Phase 2, we do not have any issues with the units.

The coil isn’t the easiest to remove. It’s a bit of a pain in my opinion. But you do not remove it daily or weekly. It’s not as flimsy as you think and needs to be pulled out with a bit of force. It’s kinda wedged in there.

With the material tool it works good for me! Yes it sometimes takes a gentle snug to get it out but coil is durable! When I was db l pressing it would warp daily and once a day i reseated and flattened out. So yes with single press not as much of an issue but I'm sure with time and heat it will probably need adjustments.

What about the bug that @Zangano Cruel and I (when my unit was working) have?? Is there any plan to fix it through firmware? Which version is the last one in your website?

I'm sure it's a bug because it only happens on the first draw after turning on, like 70-80% of the times for me. Even if I had it in 335 the coil will glow like crazy and combust, it's easy to avoid as long as you aren't too stoned and forget.... But will be better if it got fixed.

Simple is the way
Microdose Update: Method #2

Just tried using a rimmed basket screen, basket screen is much smaller then the Square bowl but when placed upside down the rim on the basket covers the outer circle of air holes on the squares bowl perfectly. The basket is also just a hair taller then the Square bowl so when pinched together they stay seated in place nicely. Basket vaped evenly tasted great, zero mess. I'm going to do a deep clean and use solely baskets for a bit and see how long I can go before maintenance is needed.

Totally agreed.
Still happens to me.
I honestly decided to give pod/chamber #1 assignment just for concentrates.
First turn on, I always remember to bring back chamber #1 to the heater, specifically after auto turn OFF if I was vaping on #s 2,3,4 chambers for flowers.
That way, I’ll never combust oil.
Still a PITA if you tell me.
After years of trying vapes, I’m believing that convection vapes need to be unregulated, I’m feeling that they’ve been trying to regulate, but IMO they can’ get it yet. Too light ABV with no full extraction most of the times or plain too much heat and combustion for “regulated convection vapes”. We trust the “regulation” keeping pressed the trigger, confident the “regulation” will stop heating but nope, combustion happens.
That’s why Mighty resolved this problem hybridness. Full convection plus the help of some radiant and conduction heat.
IMHO Milaana still is for me the “king of unregulated” and portable convection vapes.
Still haven’t got my hands in the Nomad.
Waiting patiently for it.
If you look through the Square air intake, you’ll clearly see when the bug happens.
Coil glows bright orange almost from last half of the blinking button till steady green light.
Do not draw then jajajaja.
So far how’s working for you???
Best.
Stay vaped...

Why wouldn't the coil glow as it warms up? Its made of metal.

My unit behaves the same way and I've had no combustion.

Is your coil misaligned?

Haze and many of us a have said the coil will go to over 800 degrees to prep material for vaporization....that is what you are seeing when you look thru vent...the coil goes to 800 comes back down to your preset temp. I am not sure if it's a bug maybe just waiting sec to draw will fix issue.

@Haze Vaporizers please confirm i am saying this correctly.

Even if coil heats to 800 or whatever number, the material is not being heated. The pods never touch the coil. The heat does not touch until you draw. Hence the on demand convention.

Also I noticed that some draws my coil never gets red because it’s already warm from the previous hit. And this happens because I do two back to back rips within seconds. Sometimes vape takes 10 seconds to heat. Other times it’s almost instant.

New to this but just preordered on the last day of stage 3, yesterday, and was wondering if anyone knew when I should expect to receive the device? My order is still processing as of today. I have the V3 so I am pretty excited for the square.

I agree until you draw- no transfer of heat so do you think those having first draw combust due to too early draw while it's still red or do you think it is a bug?

There is a Haze shipping thread too check that for up to date info on shipments.remember they are gonna check everything, do any updates, and then process orders. Customs is always a pain and can sometimes delay shipping as well. once they get them in you should receive email.also check your spam folder I know I missed several updates about delays due to that.

I’m not sure to be honest. I’ve never experienced it though so I couldn’t say. What I do have to say is wait a second after the light go green to start your draw for those who thing they have a bug. If they truly think they have a bug, being a select few, return your unit to Haze. If it needs a firmware upgrade they should know about it to fix it. We are trying to make these devices good for the retail customers. Could very well be a bug. Coil not turning off when it heats up. But sometimes when I hit my coil is still red but it’s not st 800 degrees. Maybe these units with the “bug” are still heating well after the vape has reach temp and not cooling down or maintaining temperature as it should?

@LitPot this vape is no where near the same as the V3. Think of the V3 as a lazy man vape. It does all the work for you. Do not hit the square the same way you hit your Dual. Or do not think you can hit it the same. I made that mistake. I own both. Love them both. First 2 weeks I was hitting the square like I would hit the Dual V3 and that was not working.

I literally take every single draw during the heat up (and using 350 temp) and get massive draws and have never combusted doing so. I don't even change temps - I can fully extract a pod using the method of starting my draw before the led goes green. Stay at 350 the whole time. Its a beautiful thing!

Just some added perspective for my :2c:

Just had combustion at 395F. Buddy pulled way too hard and combusted. Was my second bowl of purple wreck. Huge cloud. I then had a hit and I knew. I was out when it happened chilling. I’m now cleaning it. I just cleaned the thing too. Don’t Hoover vacuum. You will combust.

Someone a page or so back said the key WAS pulling hard... Lol.

Oh I know. Just don’t pull that hard. You gotta feel the vapour and ease up. This guy fully ripped it and possible when vape was heating up. I want paying attention. We all were drunk. I had everything soaking in soap and water for silicone and all metal pieces in iso. Damn I got a little tipsy. But I need this back and working for Portugal game. I’m thinking that this vape shouldn’t be brought out or shared with everyone. Never had an issue until last night. And it wasn’t even me who combusted.

My technique is still evolving, but here's what I've learned.

* keep it clean - dirty screens affect performance more than you'd think, even when they look ok.
* always do a 'priming' hit. By that I mean press the button until it vibrates, then draw air through at a decent pace. You won't usually get much vapor from the priming hit. You need a priming hit whenever the unit is cold.
* after the priming hit, do your regular hit. Velocity of the pull is important, it has to be fast, but not toooo fast. There's a feel to it, and not every draw is identical. This is the learning part.
* wet herb doesn't work well, it needs to be dry.
* a fairly fine grind is best, fill the bowls, no tamping just level it off.
* you can actually use finger-busted herb, but you'll probably have to stir it at least once to get full extraction.
* double pressing is like turbo boost - you can force extra heat in but it's easy to overdo, and as others have said may not be good for your coil. I only use it as a last resort on damp or nearly-finished herb. It's better to raise the temp and not double press, I think.
* THINK before you draw. I tend to daydream and not pay attention to my vaping technique. You have to focus for a bit to use the Square. You can't just puff randomly like I do with the Dual.
* Herb efficiency is not the strong suit of the Square. It's more about on-demand, tasty vapage, with really fast extraction. I find I waste some just because it extracts so fast I wind up overdoing it. Also the bowls are huge.
* It's not so good as a 'session' vape - it gets too hot and the battery drains fast. It's best for 2-3 draws of exceptional quality, then let it cool.
* position of the unit doesn't matter, hold it any way you like
* the button is kind of quirky - sometimes it sticks, so you have to pay attention to it.

Those are all the tips I can think of so far :)

The Square is an excellent device, but it takes a fair amount of getting used to (at least for me it has). I find it ideal for those times when I want a few nice big hits, right now.

It has a place next to my Dual now, and I use it in conjunction with that.
