Discontinued Haze Dual V3

I was running lots of concentrates in my Haze and was neglecting the cleaning. It got very gross and sticky a few times. Getting all of the residual concentrate off was quite the chore until I tried cleaning it while it was warm. Cleaning it right after doing a session was so much easier as the wax warmed up again. ISO on a q-tip got it clean in probably 1/10th the time it was taking me before.

I was to the point that even after cleaning the Haze the mouthpiece would get stuck right away, and that was with a lot of scrubbing. Cleaning right after a session got it clean as a whistle with no more sticking mouthpiece.

This is probably common knowledge but it took me a few months to figure out. Only cleaning it while warm from now on.

I'd also wondered if maybe some concentrate spillages might have contributed to any of the sticking switch/pivot failures PHB has experienced - but his clarification that he uses dry herb only removes this thought. Makes me wonder if the extra oiliness from 'trates might actually alleviate the problem? Seems unlikely. If defective memory serves, this is the first we've heard of this failure mode. I hope it doesn't become epidemic!

I do recall reading of some top levers coming loose; was that sometimes caused by pushing the switch lever too far or too aggressively? That's probably only remotely related if at all, but thought I'd mention it.

However, is it possible to use too much Iso wetting when cleaning any of the air path and maybe some Iso and resin flows or back flows over to the switch pivot? I'm guessing here, but I don't think I want even small amounts of Iso free flowing inside the unit.

@NickDlow - You use a lot of 'trates in your Haze, correct? If yes, do you do anything special in usage, cleaning method or cleaning intervals to keep your switch/pivot from binding up from resin buildup? Have you noticed any binding? I'm using wax and shatter only right now, hence my interest.

It's about time I clean my Haze for the first time. I'm a bit overdue for it and no binding yet, but it is still very early for this unit.

Will try to keep the 99.8% ISO off the paint to prevent crazing and lifting and no more than damp on the 3 Q-tips for cleaning the main air path versus very wet. For now, at least, until I learn more.

To be honest I mix mine with herb until new 'leak free' lids are available. Concentrates only is a pain in the ass worrying about how to hold it n blah blah.

But as apathy said, clean while warm. Hell I just let mine keep running the whole time while I clean it. Other than that I don't do anything special. I usually clean mine when the resin builds up so much it blocks one the oven inlet holes lol.

I have been busy at work conducting more heater strength tests. I'm the only one failing these tests as I am having trouble keeping up.

What I have here is
1 HAZE V2.5
1 Eds TnT WonG
1 SSV J- Hook w/clip
3 feet of Whip
1 Ash catcher with triple honey comb perc

The Haze is still blowing my mind in versatility. I am only using dry material, but I can only imagine a dry+shat+dry sandwich. Sounds like an assignment.....
Show Off. :D I have to call you out here. Include the Haze unit in the video as well. Is it not the true shining star of the show with supporting cast members. ;) Great video, cheers !

Bet, all in! I have seen what is on the horizon and it is good. :brow: Well stated my friend, I could have not said it any better.

Once you make a delicious sandwich it's more like a welcome assassination courtesy of thee Haze! I'm happy to see someone else is geeking around with the Haze also.

Thank you for sharing that wonderful experience with us all. It is not only about the Haze but also the health, education and all the benefits that come when one says fuck combustion.

I have had some similar experiences myself with others that combusted their herbs or concentrates. I luckily ( wink wink) had my Haze with me for these green horns to the vaporizing world. Thanks for always having my back Haze Tech. !!!!

Most of these uneducated and I say that with no ill will and truth .... just get into a routine. Once they tried the Haze or vaporizing in general for the first time, liked it in the end or even sometimes right away.

It is just mind blowing to me that a few have not even tried to open up to the idea of the Haze of vaporizing. They just cannot realize all of the pluses even after Haze sessions talking about how great they felt. Only to later be like "it takes to long" or " so much to deal with". Yet even with these people they still ask if i can bring over my little black beauty.

It's hard to see the hegelian dialectic hard at work in some of the most brilliant people. I say to them all. Give me Haze or give me death, well that n liberty too. Cheers!!

I was vaped and meant cognitive dissonance not the hegelian dialectic.

Well Damn. I made a quick video. Missed most of the first exhale, second one was way too much vapor :ko:
That's a quartz chillum that I'm using to connect that whip to the D020.

I imagine the Haze doesn't agree with rough handling of its oven selector switch. The snapping of the oven selector switch doesn't seem to be a common problem. I believe if it was then it would have shown up by now on more units.

I believe you're correct in your thinking of too much ISO is a bad thing. That could cause it to flow into places it shouldn't be, taking resin with it and getting them gummed up. This is most likely why Haze advises to only wet the qtip slightly and not have it dripping wet.

Thanks for that. You still aim to please I see. I also enjoy your music selection in your videos, the music just seem to always match up great. Cheers!

I also hear, (wink wink) when one waits this long to clean, a treasure of amber/honey goo goo is easily reclaimed. Just slightly warm your unit up on both ovens, slide the stainless MP all the way in making sure that is contacts the sides of the AP on the way down. Do this a few times and the sweet nectar will be built up at the end of your MP. Just something I heard though. ;).

Side note: The most simple way to keep your oven lids clean is to pop it open after your session and give it a FAST swipe with your finger while it is still hot. I mentioned this many many pages ago. Just a recap for some of the green horns here.

I also wanted to extend a nice and happy welcome aboard to all of the new Haze owners and members of FC. You will enjoy this thread and site immensely. It's great to see this thread growing like a weed! :D Cheers!

Would you battery gurus, please is it a big 10-4 to leave the Haze batteries in their Haze charger overnite?

I am assuming there is a cutoff switch the prevents it from overcharging?

Thanks in advance, don't want to return to a mini IED disaster.....

Glad to hear you are enjoying the Haze!

Maybe check out the last 20 pages or so of this thread.

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/cheap-high-quality-bubbler.5255/

There are lots of cheap reliable options direct from China that can be purchased off DH Gate. I myself purchased the original FC-187 and it's my least expensive and most used piece of glass in my collection.

You are also going to want a way to pair the Haze with the Glass. Haze sells the @Ed's TnT WonG or you can get the nuSonG from @Ratchett which works well with the existing mouthpiece. Make sure you get matching sizes to the glass.

Good luck and let us know of questions!
Thanks Scott. The FC-187 looks good but after much reading I'm going to try the D-020 everyone here seems so high on (I think the video in another post sold me on it). Seems like a good starting point in the world of glass. Have been in touch with Ratchett and good to go. Can't wait to try my Haze with this bad boy. Happy hazing and thanks again.

Yeah I have been thinking about one of those myself. Can't beat the value. Just waiting until I need something else to help on shipping.

Glad to hear! You won't be disappointed!
The bonus was there was no charge for shipping and the total was under $20. Not sure if it will get flagged by Canada Customs for tax and duty but at these prices I'll gladly pay it.

I would trust it to be safe. The batteries are protected. They will prevent themselves from being overcharged. I'm certain the Haze charger has a voltage cutoff to protect from overcharging. That's double protection.

The Haze and Nitecore i2 have a very similar exterior design and the same power adapter setup. I would probably be cracking open my Haze charger and the Nitecore i2 if I owned it, just to see if they are the same on the inside. I wouldn't doubt they have almost the same specs.

I may have used the Haze charger one time but that was so long ago. I always use my Xtar vp2 charger to charge my batteries.

I started writing something along these lines yesterday, but my reclaim jar finished evap :science: so everything I had planned went out the window, was a very hazey day.

Personally it's not something I do, but I know others that do and have never have any issues, for me though because of the way i treat some of my batteries, being around while charging is just a habit I have gotten into.

On a charger note...damn @Count Vapula you got my interest going :goon: ;)

So the nitecore i2 which I also though would be the same as the haze, was nice and easy to get into pretty basic inside.

The haze charger put up a fight, seems like it's been designed to not be easy to get access to (which I suppose is a good thing really) now I should say I stopped halfway through (didn't remove the board) as I didn't want to chance damaging anything (just yet ) but from what I did see the haze charger like the PCB has more going on, although exactly what I can't say just yet, but IMO it seems like more than just reverse polarity and over charge protection, even the little things were better, like the rails were a much better design than the nitecore (they should last longer with less issues) so even though they do behave the same way almost exactly I do think the haze is better quality  and IMO could have more than the double protection going on (maybe heat  sure I will have an itch one day and find out)

Also have to say I've always been a flower guy (for ease), but after yesterday I'm going to put a few oz to one side and have a little play, tried the reclaim in most of my vapes and the haze just took it to another level, it just kept going pumping out goodness  so can't wait to get started with something better quality, seems I've been missing out

I'm liking my Hazing setup better now (the Ryot case was too tight at first) so here are some pics in case they're of any use.

I had a couple of needs the below addresses - requirements, actually:

1.) Portability to help with (too?) frequent leisure travel :myday:.
2.) Portable bubbler for protection of damaged lungs  that are worsened by dryness, etc.

I'm using 'trates exclusively right now, hence my need for the bent mouthpiece. That is, the Haze needs to stay level to avoid spillage, conversely, the h-tube needs to stay upright to prevent spilling water.

First pic is of my Hazeroo with DIY bent SS mouthpiece, Nu-SonG and Pinnacle Hydrotube up in place. It'll just sit there like that although I only do that on soft surfaces to protect the tube.

The Nu-SonG is great for this setup. Here's why: In the below setup, I hold the Hazer in my left hand, tube in right. So there is some movement between hands - especially when stoned silly. The Nu-SonG allows quite a bit of flexibility - so nothing has been fractured by clumsy-stoner-me yet.

The Haze is the gentlest vape I've ever used. Even still, I get a pleurisy-like ache in my defective airbags without bubbler - partly due to new-vape over-usage, eh? Anyway, with the hydrotube, no ill effects at all. Surprisingly to me, the weed puts my asthma in total remission with no other meds needed. (using funds earmarked for asthma meds for weed instead: Priceless. :leaf:)

haze_w10.jpg

The below is in an open Ryot Packrat large soft case. You can see I need a 2 battery holder/protector to organize the top of the case. It's on the way from fleabay. Also visible is DIY bent SS MP with Nu-SonG. I wrap the yellow felt around the HT for added protection between the Haze and the tube before zipping the case up. And yes, the felt is named "Towellie".

haze_i10.jpg

And finally, here is what the Ryot looks like with the stuff zipped inside. Ruler for scale. Gotta try to remember the tube when unzipping it to prevent droppage/broken glass bummer.

ryot_c10.jpg

I've traveled with it twice already and it works well. Running the zipper past the tube is always tight and the fit between the Haze and the tube inside the case is tighter than optimal for best protection. I think it would take quite a bit to break the tube in this case but I don't think it would tolerate sitting on the case or dropping it on a hard surface on the zipper side.

edits:

1.) Notes re: Nu-SonG: Ad info is correct that the silicone may arrive needing some more curing. Since 'cone needs humidity to cure and there's almost none here, I tossed it into a cup of tap water overnight and the next day it was firmer and the odor was gone. Easy peasy. The fit to the mouthpiece is perfect. Very nice product, IMHO. Highly recommended.

2.) I found that Ryot had the large size of Packrat case on sale from their direct website cheaper than fleabay sellers. Had to find a place in notes to sneak in what color I wanted as that wasn't just easy to do. They shipped super fast and the bag is well made. It does not have a built in hardshell so it is soft bag type protection only.

3.) A guy in fleabay sells an 18650 double battery holder case that has a seal and is supposedly waterproof. Some of our fellow Hazers said they store cans in one side of a battery case. Wondering if the sealed type of battery case might help contain the herb odor? Wouldn't bet my freedom on it but maybe it would keep the bag from soaking up odor?

@stark1 I should have added that I wouldn't leave the charged batteries in the charger as a common practice. Decent chargers will monitor the voltage and do mini top offs if the battery is left in the charger for a long period of time. You usually want to remove the battery from the charger no later than an hour after it's full. This just prevents extra wear on the battery. Not a safety issue as the chemistry of modern batteries, their protection circuits and decent charger protection circuits have taken out virtually all the danger of a battery disaster. Now disasters are left to user error and/or cheap/damaged equipment.

@UnshavenFish Sorry about that, I should have known. It's been nagging me ever since I discovered Haze Tech and their awesome vaporizer. I finally forgot about it until stark1 got me thinking again about the charger. Bravo to you for taking the matter and risk into your own hands. I would have done it myself but I don't own a Nitecore (Sysmax) charger. I figured there may be more going on inside the Haze charger. I would be very interested in a spec sheet.

I'm doing a test of my new Haze charger. I hadn't even taken it out of the bubble wrap. Put a couple old unprotected Samsung ICR18650-26A batteries into it and am running them up to full charge. Looks like one just finished. Will pop it out and check the voltage. 4.21V fresh off of full charge. Will let the other one hit full and sit for awhile. Closely monitored of course.

Edit: Second battery came off of the charger at 4.17V. It has been sitting in the charger for an hour after the lights went solid.

@Micke Nice work my friend. I do love that custom elbow. Marketing it soon?

@Count Vapula,

Input appreciated, thank you.

This SS was an odd duck; it had to be nearly white-hot before it would bend. As you no doubt know, that's pretty unusual. Anyway, excessive heat along with the borrowed oxy/acet rig and fading skills, I ended up with pitting and such that had to be filled.

That is to say: I don't have the equipment or skills to do this right. 2nd thought was: Don't even have a lathe anymore to try drilling & turning a different SS alloy MP that would bend normally.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Not sure if anyone tried this before but I just got several flavored Hookah tobacco bags from my local shop. I mixed mango flavor with my favorite bud in one chamber, had the peach flavored one on the other one. Vaped at setting 1 in cans. Amazing taste, no mess no fuss. We have had a blast with it. Love the versatility on this device. If anyone is into hookahs, try this. You will love it. Setting 1 was great for me. Finished it at setting 2. Setting 3 was too high.

Folks, I apologize for my absence in this thread as of late. I assure you, it is not due to any dwindling of enjoyment.

In fact, I have a success story for today;

A good friend and PA that I work with celebrated her birthday today with a float down the local river running through town. I was able to attend and normally rent a canoe or borrow a raft but have been housing an inflatable kayak (sea eagle) for a physician I work with, it had yet to see the water so I decided that today was the day.

I tipped that sucker over within 2 minutes of putting in the water. The launch site has a notorious amount of sandbars and I got hung up on one, I tried to push off the sand bar but really hadn't thought how silly of an idea that would be and tipped myself right over with one good shove. And of course, stupid me thought to myself that I wouldn't need my dry-sack for this day trip and only loaded stuff into my backpack. Luckily it was at the launch site and the backpack didn't float far, however I discovered that the container that had been housing the Haze was not waterproof. I was pretty worried as I had just gotten into the water and had a good 4 hours ahead of me. I dried the Haze as best I could and found a dry spot to tuck it and hoped for the best (I removed the battery and the cans, which were also soaked.

When I arrived home I immediately dumped the Haze into a bowl full of Instant Rice. I had no idea if it would work but I left it there for about 4 or 5 hours, even though the Haze felt dry at that point.

I am pleased to announce that after popping in a battery and a fresh can that my Haze is still operable. I ran a can through each setting for a few minutes before finishing on setting 4. I don't believe that there has been any negative effect from a good 2 minute swim.

Please folks, don't open yourselves up to the same troubles that I did, as your mileage certainly may vary and I wouldn't want anyone to think their unit will handle some laps in the pool, but my unit has really surprised me here.

I will invest in a more reputable waterproof container, that much is certain. I may have dodged a bullet once, but I will be way more protective in the future.

Talk to the Beard
I recently got a Haze v 2.5 and love it. One thing I don't love is once the draw tube gets a little sticky it can be difficult to extract from the unit. I emailed the manufacturer with an idea to address this issue. Namely to install a small spring in the draw hole and trim the draw tube so it compresses the spring when closed and emerges when opened, just like an old school pinch hitter and dugout. I received a response stating they were working on a fix for this issue and including it in v 3.0. Myself being the impatient type I found the requisite materials and supplies in my garage. From a jar or springs I found one of ideal diameter and tension. It was a bit long so I cut about 40% of it off. Using a tube cutter I reduced the stainless steel mouthpiece (cutting on the narrow end) from 2 3/8" to 1 7/8" length. The stem needs to be depressed slightly to close and does not provide excessive pressure when closed. When opened the stem falls freely until the thicker end encounters the o-ring. This mod has been absolutely brilliant so far.

I knew someone else had to be trying a "spring solution" to the sticky MP

I just took an old click pen, removed the spring, cut off a small piece, and rewound it to it was wider, and dropped it into the airway. Voila! Now when I open it, about 1/4" of MP pops up. It's a very light tension - maybe only 3 spring curls worth, so it's really nothing to push it in while closing the unit. Yes indeed, it seems to be a brilliant solution.

Not sure now long before it too would get too sticky to work, but if it cuts down on cleaning to once a week and allows me to store the steel MP inside the unit, I am thrilled.
