Kind of an odd experience watching this. It's supposedly one of the top comedies of all time- made during time of legal restrictions.

Jodorowsky is a great artist and a great man. A very interesting character to discover and study thoroughly. He is one of the great fathers of psychedelia. I was lucky enough to meet his son Cristobal a couple of years ago, during a psycho-theater show. A man full of empathy and humanity.
Another of his films that I really liked is one of the last, The Dance of Reality.

Rosemary's Baby is the best movie ever made . A masterpiece of cinema, every single camera shot is pure artistry, not to mention all star cast, incredible acting, etc. My favorite film by far. I Own a first edition of the book, pretty much word for word same as script of the film. If you have not seen this film, treat yourself, it's up there with the greatest cinema of all time. IMHO of course. Oh and "Lara Louise"and Ruth Gordon steal the show. Every movie buff needs to see this film. Hail Satan! Cheers, D.

Recently, I finally got around to seeing "8 1/2" (1963) and "Last Year At Marienbad" (1961)... I love so much about these films.. They're definitely not for everybody, but if you like surreal and abstract masterpieces, and don't mind subtitles, these are pretty damn special.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I recently got around to watching "Motel Hell" (1980) and "Blood Rage" (1987), and "The Editor" (2014).. Fun times! :spliff:

^^^I saw Jodorowsky mentioned above.. Holy Mountain is definitely not one for everyone IMO.. I own it, but don't know many people who can appreciate it.. It by far isn't one of my favorites, but I can definitely appreciate it; it's just sooooo extremely over the top and self indulgent, but looking past a lot of that, I really do like it.. Jodorowsky clearly poured his heart and soul into it.. El Topo has been on my list a good while too; and Santa Sangre.. I'll have to add The Dance of reality to the list too.
Random: I recently read that the guy who made Tourist Trap, who is from Texas, was in film school w/ Jodorowsky in Mexico City.. I thought that was kinda interesting, and random thing to come across.

^^^I really like Rosemary's Baby too.. and Chinatown too..

Anyone see "Hereditary"(2018)? Toni Collette killed it!

Really enjoyed this film. Did you see midsommar? My wife thought it was too scary, I thought it was hilarious.
No, but it's been on my list for a bit.. I plan to stream it sometime soon though.
I was really impressed by Hereditary, especially as the director's first film, it seemed really polished.. haven't seen anything quite like it.
Toni Collette's range was on full display, she's was great.. I thought everyone was really.

For sure. If you haven't checked out the "heredity explained" video on YouTube, it's got some good background story information which usually doesn't interest me. It almost made me want to watch it again.

This movie was a blast to watch blazed. Helps if you like first person shooters! I've never seen a zombie movie from a first person perspective.

Like Doom eternal live.

Drive f'n blew me away again just recently after near a decade from watching it last .

I'm even more impressed now than when I first watched it. There's so much art house going on.

I found lots of Google search results around that to deep dive. The director & movie pay homage to many other earlier legendary movies. Lots to see and digest.; even a distinct 80's nod in the lead song and scenes; here's the song on YouTube with >215M views... what a vibe :luv:.

92% on Rotten tomatoes.

Look at the quadrant system nod to Drive.

And content warning, it's way more graphically & physically violent than I remember... very intense :science:.

Serious wow recommended.
