Discontinued Glass Symphony XLR

Son of a....

I was sure I was gonna pick up a flowerpot on black Friday, until I found this!
Anyone own both and care to share a comparison?
Maybe one has already been shared, I haven't gone through every page yet
I don't think we're supposed to compare vapes in vape threads, there's some vape compare threads in the vaporizer discussion forum that get used sometimes:
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/please-compare-vapes.24809/
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/question-for-those-who-owned-tried-more-than-1-vaporizor.18051/
(I'm sure there's more)

I will say without going into details I prefer my glass symphony for flower, they're both absolutely amazing though.

have you thought of 3d printed ceramic for a stand? You'd be able to make your own design, maybe it could have a couple of 18mm's in it for the bowls. Of course I say this with zero knowledge on making... any part of any of this stuff.
No! Great idea! I also agree about having a couple 18mm.

Check this out:
https://www.shapeways.com/tutorials

Anyways, on another topic. Is anyone else building up residue next to the handle like this?
This is normal. Being able to see through the entire air path can show the realities of inverted vaping. The GS was made to be very cleanable. You should be able to disassemble it in under a minute. The handle and 3way are small enough to fit in a 1 gallon bucket or 1 gallon ziplock. I keep a second 3way adapter in a bucket of simple green to swap out as needed.

New 3way adapters are $25 + shipping.

Also would it be beneficial to try and fill the beads up to the top of the heater? Or no not really?
There is no need. The heater starts just below.

Bee!

Welcome! Be sure to take a look back. If you like scientific glass and fast extractions...

I got the new bowl, it definitely extracts better. At my usual temp I was getting abv that was a lot closer to black then I'm used to seeing and it's knocked a hit off. With hand tearing and not grinding (AS RECOMMENDED) I extract in 2-3 hits depending on how much I load into the stadium bowl, with the smaller bowl it's 1-2. I'm going to turn the temp down and try it some more tonight. I'm torn though because I absolutely love the view of the stadium bowl. I'm hoping they both perform similarly, but the new bowl is just able to handle lower temps better.

My bad, thanks for the tip though!
Someone actually tagged me in the compare thread today, though they asked why I preferred the symphony to the flowerpot so it's more about that then a comparison of the 2.

@StormyPinkness Sweet shot!

Be sure to try to temp step w/ it. I view the new bowl as +80F or so on the controller.

I start with the "stadium" for the show. After that hit, I dump and wrap it up in the "funnel". Dump to jump!
Ah starting with the stadium is a great way to do it. Last night I actually turned the heat down 50 degrees to 900 and am still extracting in the same number of hits. Better taste and abv much lighter the way I like it. I was actually going to try lowering it again tonight, I'll try 30 so it's 80 lower than what I use with the stadium.

There's got to be a way to do concentrates with the increased heat in the new bowl, I'm going to start thinking about it. I have some fritted glass discs and a crucible layered with screens and glass beads I want to try if I can get a good fit. I'd try hemp fiber but my last batch was bad and I had to toss it.

Also funnel bowl is the perfect name for that one. Tonight it's an 875 stadium start with a funnel finish.

I started to read through- just too many pages. I use flowers only. So can someone say how difficult this is to use. There seem to be a lot of pieces and I'm used to simple vapes. And does it require coordination? I was looking at the flower pot but found out that shaking hands might be a problem.
And current cost. Is there a website or is this it?

It comes in a few pieces you need to put together, but it's incredibly easy. I think it's basically a 3 way adapter, heater, glass beads, handle, and clips. If I remember correctly you put the heater in the 3 way, clip it, pour in beads, pop on the handle, clip it, done. Mine came with 2 bowls with the screens already pristinely in place.

Once it's put together it's just the vape and the bowl. Load up the bowl and put it in some glass, then just put the glass symphony on top and go.

The glass symphony and the bowl it plugs into are 24mm which I think is easy to line up and insert. You can put the vape on and get it set before you actually start drawing too without worrying about cooking the flower. The heat travels up away from it until you start pulling air through.

@Prolusio did a really great video showing it off and talking about it in this post:
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/glass-symphony-xlr.24261/page-9#post-1151918

My stuff is mostly "the flower vaping looks so pretty!"

I think for now you have to message @jojo monkey to get one. Also you need an e-nail controller/pid if you don't already have one. I had bought an auber one for another vape that I was able to just change the settings on and use.

Almost there...
@little maggie @jojo monkey

Been meaning to do this for a while, now seems like a good time!
Here is a basic assembly guide and tutorial and how to use...
Assembly is easy and you do it once.
If you can lift a mug of tea and place it on a coaster, then you can use this vape.
Just remember: If you break a lot of glass adpaters/WT's, this is NOT the vape for you.

The Glass Symphony Vaporizer

Pure glass air path with only a Stainless Steel screen to hold your herb.

Contents of package:
1 – 3 way adapter
2- Heater module
3 – Air inlet tube
4 - Glass beads
5 – Herb bowl
6 – 2 Stainless Steel Kek clips
7 – Spare screens, Joint lube and a bar of beeswax.

You provide:
1- Digital controller compatible with heater pin layout
2- 18mm Water tool of your choosing.
3- A stand of some sorts, this is being worked on and will come with the final version.

Assembly

This is what you should receive in the Beta package.
6MaK4pa.jpg

Assembly is very straight forward!

First place the heater in the 3 way adapter.
WR1Vhef.jpg

Then turn the assembly upside down being careful to hold the heater in place. Check the position of the heater; it needs to be centered for best results.
Hard to capture due to all the clean glass.

BnoiV5P.jpg

Should be nice and centered.
kyncCLC.jpg

Add the Stainless Steel Kek Klip.
ncAaOC4.jpg

Grab the bag of beads and snip the corner off. Large enough for the beads to slowly pour out, under control!
jK1D8rO.jpg

Slowly pour them in while gently shaking and tapping the three way adapter on a soft surface till you have used up all the beads.
eSKjxku.jpg

Add the draw tube and a KEK clip and you are done!

How to use

1- Plug XLR connector into your controller and switch on.

2- Depending on your controller you may need PID settings which will be sent prior to the GS arriving.

3- Allow GS to heat up to your preferred temp and allow to heat soak for 5 minutes.

4- Grind up your herb to a fine consistency and add 0,1g or less to the bowl.

5- Tap the sides of the bowl to center the load, it does not need to cover the whole screen.

6- Add bowl to your Water Tool and place the GS on top

7- Empty lungs and inhale quite rapidly and consistently until vapor decreases or stops.

8- Hold in for a few seconds and exhale.

9- Stir load and you may get one smaller hit.

10- Discard and reload, rinse and repeat as required.

Since writing this i also use larger loads and smaller draws to finish the bowl.
I have also dropped my temps by almost 100F and am still blown away!
It's an awesome vape!

What a tasty design!

I break so much glass it's SCARY.
We have a family budget for my well known breakage.(thank goodness)

Make me one from you?

Your the best ever!
If you don't want to make me one I understand. (people think I'm a prick of misery?)
My wife or daughter can put it together for me if you can not?

Not simple to me but looks very cool. I've never succeeded in attaching one of the klek connectors that come with some of my tubes. I guess I should add lack of coordination when I ask about vapes.
Preassembled though would be good but I guess that won't work if you need to be able to assemble it as some point.

Maybe @jojo monkey could help with a pre-assembled one?
Considering the amount of glass this vape consists of, it might not be the best for you.
Woodscents maybe?

There's got to be a way to do concentrates with the increased heat in the new bowl,
Only 1 way go find out! :science:

Have you tried steel mesh up the 24/40 on the 3way? I'd pull a thread out so you can pull it out. I can also get it out with a fine stir tool.

I started to read through- just too many pages. I use flowers only. So can someone say how difficult this is to use. There seem to be a lot of pieces and I'm used to simple vapes. And does it require coordination? I was looking at the flower pot but found out that shaking hands might be a problem.

I hope you read the back pages. There's lots of knowledge in what people have shared. Pretty images too.

As far as the coordination, I like the idea of doing as little as before, during, and after a draw. There is nothing to carb or cap during a hit. Breathe as fast or as slow as you like - the vape does reward a fast draw though. The GS on top of the bowl does not get hot enough to cook herb so there is no ticking clock. Stop and start when you like with the vape on the bowl. The temps are regulated by the controller so there is no thinking with that other than finding a temp you prefer. There is a massive amount of heat that gives you a dense hit very quickly so your draws should be shorter (bubbler permitting). I hope this sorta frames things.

I've been selling them privately for now. PM or email symphony.vapor@gmail.com.

Not simple to me but looks very cool. I've never succeeded in attaching one of the klek connectors that come with some of my tubes.
The big 24/40 clamps give you issue? You ever try a little grease or oil on the clamp?

What a tasty design!

Thanks! You have good taste.

I can ship an assembled glass symphony. It will just cost a little more for the bigger box.

How about a heat gun with an adapter for herb?
I once looked into these before I walked this path. I kept getting stuck on two questions: How do you clean the insides of a heat gun and can you trust the air path you can't see. Besides that, I leave the GS on all the time and can get a hit as soon as I load it. I don't think I'd leave a heat gun running all day.

@lazylathe :rockon::bowdown:Thanks for all that. I am floored.

Yeah me too, I move to a temporary housing situation at the end of this week until mid-december. Once I move to the new house I will be pulling the trigger on my next VAS vape! Please keep one aside for me JoJo!

Curious though JoJo, when do you plan to officially roll this baby out?

There are a few more corners to round and then I am ready.

The heater's configuration was changed a little and the new ones have only been in the wild a couple weeks. There is better heat transfer and it runs 100F lower than the previous build to get the same color ABV. I want to see them run a bit before I jump. (current owners aren't missing anything other than it running -100F). The new refinement was the last thing I wanted to do with the vape's heater before scaling out. So the heater is done!

The 220V will be out soon.

A stand might be the last nail.

This vape is just such a work of art.

Almost there...
Today is a quieter day with no house showings so far, time to break out the GS!!
And of course i will be test driving the new micro bowl!

I was told to drop the temps by 100F which i did and the results were amazing!
Flavor, clouds you name it, it had it! Had me sweating and humming! LOL!
But the herb was still green!!
Have to try that again...same results!
Bump up to 800F, 40 lower than my usual temps...
Holy cow-a-bunga dude!!!
Almost instant whitewall, great flavor and more major sweats...
Herb was slightly darker but still green!

Next up was a sipper bowl! About 0,5g and just small sips till the tube is white then stop, do not remove heater.
Savor the outstanding flavor and effects of each hit! Vapor only takes a second to start again.
This time i went till i could no longer see any vapor and the herb is slightly tan color!

Just tried my RooR bowl for comparisons and it keeps the terps right up front!
First hit and my nose is tingling for the past few minutes, no sneezing just this odd tingling!
Flavor was even better but not by much, just the terp rush is stronger.
Super sweaty...LMAO!! Such a noob still after 20+ years...

Lots more testing to be done with the new bowl!

Another winner @jojo monkey !!!

Mine has been rock solid, zero issues, zero build up in the elbow since day 1!
A superior vaping experience for the flower lovers!

EDIT:
Just did about 0,5g in the micro bowl as a sipper load!
About 5 good hits and then whispy ones.
Herb was darker this time as well!
Effects are way strong with this vape!!

Fantastic news!

Were you trying it with your custom basket w/ a handle or the installed screen? I partly had this made to beat up your basket.

"zero build up in the elbow since day 1"
Cotton or no cotton in the handle? I think @MileHighHuman is not using it. I suspect that it helps w/ the backflow.
