Need advice from you glass experts.
How do I clean colored glass without risking the color to fade? My clear glass parts always get an ISO wash, works fine. Hot soap water didn't clean the gunkiest areas.
Hey man, good question and the answer is simple, you would clean it exactly as your clear glass. There’s absolutely no risk of fading as the colour is in the glass itself and not on the surface. Unless the colour has been painted on, then a solvent like isopropyl alcohol will dissolve the paint. I have seen baked-on decals fade with time and harsh cleaners, but the only ones that wash off are labels on counterfeit products, which are painted on. Tinted colour glass will never fade over time or due to cleaning but it can be permanently stained and marked by hard water and the minerals it contains.
Myself, whatever the glass, the song remains the same: warm iso rinse, then hot soapy water + rinse, and a final rinse with distilled water. The last step is to prevent hard water spots and stains, I use distilled water in the glass for the same reason. Our tap water is so hard it could ruin glass over time. Depending on the hardness/softness of your water supply or if you even care about such things, that may not be necessary.
I learned all of this through FC and not my own intellect, just passing it on. Good luck!
